Re: Weekly Randoms 9/18

  • Yesterday at work my engagement ring got too snug for comfort so I wore it on my watch, I'm afraid of it getting stuck. DH worked so hard for and on that ring. I was upset because I know how people judge when they don't see a ring. DH thought ahead and had bought a set of silicone bands to wear. I kind of want a fake from Wal-Mart, something shiny but he is so sweet.
I would say I can't stop cleaning but I can cause I get tired. The babies room is clean and ready to be painted, I cleaned and oiled the crib and did all the vacuuming today's an recycling and poop patrol.

  • @MaximumEffort I just got a set of silicone rings to wear as well. I've heard of people who have to get their rings cut off of them at the hospital (you have to take them off if you have a c-section) and I definitely don't want that happening! My rings are starting to get pretty snug, so better safe than sorry!
  • I haven't had many weird dreams but last night I dreamt I went into preterm. I lost my mucus plug and then had blood later on with contractions. DH was working and I couldn't get ahold of him so I called my coworker. We ended up taking the work van (parked at her house) and I had no bags ready because I'm only 31 weeks. So we were running around trying to put bags together when DH came home. Somehow I was coherent enough to pack bags for quite a while lol. And we still got to the hospital way before time. When I woke up I had to pee so badly I had BH. No wonder I had that dream lol!

I can still wear my wedding bands but my anniversary ring DH got me last year does not fit my other hand. So my right hand is swelling more than left. I take them off at night cuz that's when my hands swell the most so I don't have them not able to come off.
  • My husband just asked me when we need to get my "baby bed" ready. Like a cardboard box with blankets a dog uses.

He meant pack hospital bags but really?

  • I had a dream a couple nights ago that I had a little slit on the side of my belly and the baby poked its hand out and held onto my finger. I enjoyed the tiny little hand grasping me for a few seconds, then tucked the hand back in so I could sew up the hole in my belly. Super weird, but also a sweet dream-moment.
  • @DungeonTrollMel  - That is too funny.  My husband half-jokingly asks on a regular basis whether I can produce "chocolate milk, please!" when nursing.  When we were at our birthing class, I noticed a cartoon entry on one of the posters up around the room where the kid requests chocolate milk from his mother.  My husband and I both immediately burst out laughing.

No weird dreams lately.  Too tired.  But this kid really, really loves my homemade applesauce.  It feels like the kid starts up his own whole drum corp in my uterus about 10 minutes after I start eating a bowl.  As alien a feeling as it is, I've convinced myself I just need to keep a crock pot of applesauce going at all times for this kid to keep him/her moving regularly.  I think I'm going to miss this sensation a lot.

  • Curiousfool1 My LO loves apple juice. He goes nuts when I drink it!
@DragonTrollMel I had the chocolate milk dream a month or two ago. So bizarre. PS 20 oz is crazy!

I haven't been able to wear my rings since July. I bought some cheap ones from Amazon that are 1.5 oz above my usual size and they were still too tight. I thought about wearing DH's metal ring (yup, I have big hands to begin with) since he wears a silicone one most of the time between working and sports, but the carpal tunnel makes it painful for anything to touch my fingers... so I'm without.

  • As soon as I can get my ring off (too swollen with the warmer weather we've been having) it will be off until baby is here. I won't do a temporary replacement (judge away strangers!).

got my TDAP shot today. The shot itself didn't hurt but man is my arm sore now.
  • @mymulligan My fingers started swelling in June and I haven't worn my rings since the first week of July. Try runnning cold water over them or put your hands on something frozen. I knew I was done when it took 15 minutes of putting my hands on an ice pack to get them off.

As for the tDap and flu shots, I almost got them the day after the terbutaline and rhogam shots, but both arms were so sore I decided to wait until I had a day off (today).

  • Thanks for the up @NYTino24. I was actually starting to get worried about getting it off.

I didn't get my flu shot yesterday. They suggested doing it next appt since the Tdap would make my arm sore.
  • I opted out of the tDap shot, I've had it twice in the past 6 years because of having DD and then because of nursing school/work but I didn't have a record of getting it before. Flu shot will be next visit, I would get it at work but they use the multidose vials which aremy as safe.

Good news too, baby is head down, it's his head I feel on my hip.
  • I had an awful, vivid nightmare last night of being let go from my job.  So vivid it woke me up.  I ended up cuddling with my dog for a few moments before getting back in bed to try and calm down.
  • I'm both relieved and annoyed that my midwife isn't concerned that I'm having 6 consistent Braxton hicks and hour and that they are accompanied by pressure and sometimes a sharp pain in the nether region. They even woke me up last night. I called earlier, agreed to drink even more water after I had done the change of positions/activity, eating a meal and having chugged tons of water already. I just want some peace of mind especially going into the weekend.
  • Spent a couple hours in triage last night. Had contractions all day, did everything I was suppose to do. Drank tons of water, rested, changed activities, had a warm soak. After the bath they lessened to every 15 minutes but I was still sent in to check for a uti, don't have one. Did a ffn test and cervix check before be let go home. I'm 1cm dilated, and I'm guessing no news is good news for ffn cause if it was positive theyd have me come back in. So scheduled check up and ultrasound on Monday.

  • Also, we went to a big fair and I'm being towed in a red wagon. I don't think I could walk this much but DD has been asking about when it was going to happen.
  • @MaximumEffort did they give you anything to stop the contractions?

  • No, they did the ffn. She offered Terbutaline but said it's now more given for comfort and doesn't stop preterm labor. Told me to go hoke, take some benadryl to help me sleep. I work the next two days, will get checked on Monday. Really need to get the nursery put together this week.

@MaximumEffort I got the terbutaline after 11 hours of contractions (6 before hospital and 5 there)... they didn't stop immediately, but they did stop. The next time they didn't do anything and they stopped. The third time it was 6 hours before the hospital and 3 in. They gave me the Procardia and they stopped within an hour or two. So who knows! For my friend who delivered at 24 weeks, the Procardia didn't work. Spoiler: she delivered within a day or two and her son made it after a lengthy NICU stay.

I got my Tdap and rhogam 2 weeks ago. The Tdap shot did not hurt at all until the next few days. If I rolled up onto my arm while sleeping, the pain would wake me up instantly. I don't ever remember it being that sore in the past, and I've had a lot of Tdap shots.

Also, I haven't been able to wear my engagement right in over a month. I just wear my wedding band which is bigger than my engagement right by a half size. I never got it sized after I got married. I figured there is no need since my engagement ring is on top of it.

  • I got tDap and flu shots on Thursday night.  They didn't hurt at all, but now they do. The tDap shoulder is getting more and more sore.

  • @cwalker042 I dont remember the Tdap shot hurting this bad either.  I struggled to sleep last night and that was one r reason why. I got mine on Thursday.
  • It must have been tdap week! I got mine Thursday as well. Despite the 500 injections of IVF, I whined so bad about it because of he soreness. It actually hasn't been too bad. I made sure to give my arm a solid 10 minute massage right after

  • The tdap soreness lasted maybe 2-3 days. I'm supposed to get my flu shot at my next appt, this Thursday - I'm hoping it doesn't hurt as much because it definitely impacted my sleep.

My rings are off! I had them soldered after the wedding so it's all or nothing for me. It feels strange but I got nervous thinking that they would cut them off if I had to get another c-section.
  • My flu shot made me more sore than the tdap. Maybe I tensed up which made it worse?

I take my rings off at night some nights when the swelling is bad and then put them on before I leave in the morning. Yesterday I was in the car ready to leave for work and freaked out that I didn’t have my ring on. I went back in to get it and looked in all of the usual places and couldn’t find it. I got this little notion to look down at my finger and there it was. I was wearing it the whole time. I am losing my mind!
