Re: FTM Check-In: 9/25

  • 1) How far along are you? 34w3d
    2) Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? Had an ultrasound on Friday. I have had an SCH the whole pregnancy, so I get U/S every 3-4 weeks. She was practicing her breathing - it was so cool to see.
    3) Cravings/symptoms? Swollen feet, ugh.
    4) Rants/raves/concerns? MIL picked today to throw a huge hissy fit about FIL, her ex (divorced more than three decades ago). DH told her to stop, that neither parent is allowed to badmouth the other and she flipped. Told him "Let me know when she's born" and drove off. Yay drama!
    5) Anything else you want to add/ask?
    6) GTKY:  Pregnancy related - what has been on your mind most about the pregnancy or birth process as we near the end? Thinking about being a parent and not overanalyzing or being too protective. I have always been very laid back but something about becoming a mom has engendered so much protectiveness in me. I'm sure that's a good and appropriate thing, but I want to keep it in check and not become a helicopter mom.

  • @tsa208 OMG I'm so sorry for that drama! "Let me know when she's born" -- what the what! That's an unforgettable line.

    1) How far along are you? 31+4
    2) Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? 32 week appt coming up this Friday.
    3) Cravings/symptoms? Nothing special. Eating lots of salads the past few days, but still keeping ice cream in the mix too. :)
    4) Rants/raves/concerns? Just really excited to be coming in the home stretch!
    5) Anything else you want to add/ask?
    6) GTKY:  Pregnancy related - what has been on your mind most about the pregnancy or birth process as we near the end? I'm planning and preparing as much as I can for a natural birth, so I've been focusing a lot on the fact that birth is a natural, normal process and that my body is just as capable of giving birth as it has been of creating and growing this baby perfectly over the past months.

  • 1) How far along are you?
    32 weeks.
    2) Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go?
No..I have my 32w appt next week.
    3) Cravings/symptoms?
Leg cramps and back pain still. Had lots of discharge and mucous yesterday - if you missed my post about that. But nothing crazy. Fibros been bad but a lot better today than yesterday.
    4) Rants/raves/concerns?
DH doesn't understand the concern and importance of getting the TDAP. I swear I wish men had some instinct and were interested in knowing best like mom to bes do. Whenever I tell him something I always get a why or that's dumb or how come that's a thing, no one told me that. Well if you read your books or listened to half the stuff I tell you, you'd know!
    5) Anything else you want to add/ask?
I'm so stuck on breast pumps!
    6) GTKY:  Pregnancy related - what has been on your mind most about the pregnancy or birth process as we near the end?
good question. Everything. Will I make it full term? Will I come on or near my due date? How bad are contractions/labor? I wanna go natural and am trying to prep my body for it but I have terrible anxiety so that doesn't help. Will DH faint on me? (Most likely yes). With all the body changes in the 3rd tri it freaks me out cuz idk what to expect or what's not normal.
  • 1) How far along are you? 30+6

    2) Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? Appointment Thursday this week. I'm some how stuck on odd weeks

    3) Cravings/symptoms? Peanut butter!!! Anytime I stretch my legs at night rolling over I get Charlie horses in my calves so that's fun

    4) Rants/raves/concerns?
Just want to ask his position this week. Concerned he's transverse

    5) Anything else you want to add/ask?

    6) GTKY:  Pregnancy related - what has been on your mind most about the pregnancy or birth process as we near the end? Starting to freak out that "ph crap what have we done" phase because it's hitting me we will have a baby soon and little things like hitting the snooze 6 times in the morning and rushing out the door will be a thing of the past and we will now be in charge of something for the next 18 years

It's hard to believe I made it.  For a long time I wasn't sure this would happen for DH and I.

  • @DragonTrollMel I couldn't stop eating tonight to satisfy him or get rid of the reflux. Peanut butter and carrots, quesadillas, an oatmeal pie, and peanut butter crackers. The peanut butter is key!!!
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

  • @NYTino24 I accidentaly ate half a jar of peanut butter at work like 2 weeks ago. I went to have one spoonful and it was apparently the most amazing thing ever and just kept going.

  • 1) How far along are you?  34+4 weeks

    2) Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go?  Had an appointment on Friday morning.  Everything is still fine.  I get tested for GBS at the next appointment.  Baby rotated last week, but my midwife still thinks it is sitting breech.  I hope that switches soon.

    3) Cravings/symptoms? No cravings per se.  I've been loving all things apple lately, as has this kid.  Heartburn like crazy.  Restless legs if I sit in the same position for too long.  We had a heat wave this weekend (almost 90) that really sucked the energy out of me. I have noticed much more swelling this week with the heat and the humidity.

    4) Rants/raves/concerns?  Maybe because we waited so long to tell people I was pregnant in the first place, but this week everyone has had the "you're due in how many weeks!?  What?!" reaction.  Yes, I'm due in 5ish weeks.  I'm very well aware.  I'll have work done or in transition-ready status before I leave.

Also, my insurance co will cover any non-hospital grade breast pump that is carried by an in-network medical equipment provider.  The provider my birth center uses has several models.  The birth center even has a convenient order form -- but there is no place to add the model I want! I've been given 2 pumps from friends and family (the medela PIS and another one I have yet to open up).  I want to take this opportunity while the ACA exists and covers the pump to order a model that will be great for the office.

    5) Anything else you want to add/ask?

    6) GTKY:  Pregnancy related - what has been on your mind most about the pregnancy or birth process as we near the end? I've been really concerned with scheduling and child care and returning to work lately.  I've always known that my husband will be the primary caregiver and I will return to work full time.  I love my job.  My career also has the better potential for long-term stability and financial security.  But lately I've started to worry about how this plan will actually work out.  What about my baby's development will I miss? Will my husband be ok? (He already works from home, but will he be ok managing his schedule and baby and no adult company?) Will we be financially set? How much will heath insurance increase by next year now that we have to switch to the family plan? I know what the family plan premium rate is now, but I don't know what the premium will be for the new plan year, which starts in January.  Will we really be able to afford our part time child care preferences?  Lots of thoughts lately.

    2) Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go?
    Checkup on Monday, went well.
    3) Cravings/symptoms?
    Feeling huge.
    4) Rants/raves/concerns?
    5) Anything else you want to add/ask?
    6) GTKY:  Pregnancy related - what has been on your mind most about the pregnancy or birth process as we near the end?
Most of my concerns are financial, with changing insurance companies 3 weeks before my due date.
I am also nervous about becoming a parent. It's so exciting yet nerve wracking at the same time.
@DungeonTrollMel I'm having the same "Oh crap" feeling. We got this!
