I have been so busy and as selfish as it sounds, I am really missing my exercise/me time. The last 3 weeks have been filled with birthday parties, a baby shower, a field trip, and multiple doctors appointments. I am totally ready to become a winter time homebody.
How is sleep going for everyone? I remember last week we had a lot of wakeful babies, I hope some are starting to get more sleep.
Tomorrow is our 5year wedding anniversary and the H and I are going out for a few hours, I'm looking forward to it. Seems like we rarely spend any time together anymore.
Sleep is slowly improving over here luckily, LO now only wakes up about every 3 hours from 8pm until 4am and then seems to cluster feed from 4am until 8am. I've been working on putting him in his bed drowsy but awake. It was tough at first but it's really helping. Now I don't have to spend an hour rocking him at bedtime. Unfortunately he wants his pacifier back most times he wakes up so I might have to get rid of that.
@mcvgal that's not selfish at all. I told My H today that when ds2 starts sleeping through the night and I actually have energy then I'm going to get back to the gym. I used to go a couple evenings a week, when I was super tired from being pregs I would say I'm going to the gym and just go walk around target instead. Us mommas need some time to ourselves!
@mcvgal definitely not selfish. "Me" time is essential to staying sane. Since we received the keys to our new house, it's been non-stop and we still aren't done. Stuff at old house that still needs to be moved and stuff at new house that still needs to be put away. Not to mention poor DS1 is sick. This is his second time being sick EVER (MH and I think his mom got him sick) and with Rowan here now, it's tricky to keep them separated. Of course, it means I don't get to spend too much time with him because I'm taking care of Rowan. So this threw a wrench in our already tight schedule of needing to be out by next Friday. Ugh! Sorry to dump. Trying to stay positive IRL so I guess I needed to vent on here. But for now, my drive to and from work is my "me" time.
On a brighter note, @lrwardrop, Rowan seems to be emerging out of this sleep regression as well. The past two days he's been napping throughout the day again and sleeping at least 6-7 hours before needing some sort of intervention, which is usually his pacifier. But it seems 10 hours is his max and then he's up for the day. Also, MH and I just "celebrated" our five year wedding anniversary earlier this month. I use the quotation marks because we put off a real celebration until things calm down enough where we actually can. Hope you enjoy your few hours together!
My birthday is next week so I'm hoping things actually do calm down so it'll be enjoyable. FX.
Congratulations on the anniversaries @lrwardrop and @mrsrep123 . September must have been a great month for weddings because we celebrated our 7 year anniversary at the start of the month
@mcvgal Totally not selfish to want me time. The other day I ended up telling DH that I wanted him to leave me alone while I was in the shower because I just needed to be alone for a bit, nothing personal, but being a mom means spending a great deal of time not only just not alone, but with someone in your face and needing you.
@lrwardrop Congrats on the anniversary, hopefully you and your DH can really get to enjoy being together
@mrsrep123 Congrats on your anniversary as well! And FX your have a relaxing and fun birthday
We're moved in to our new place and almost entirely unpacked although I somehow managed to forget my brand new crock pot at our old place. Fortunately I have yet to turn in the keys so I still have time to get it. On an exciting note, my grandma is staying with us for a few days before she flies home (she lives out of the country for most of the year). It's been 4 years since I've seen her so I'm very excited to have her meet the kids and spend some time together.
I saw on pinterest you can use a pet costume and wrap it around a baby carrier. I found a dog shark costume that I'm going to try. I think I'll wear a wetsuit top and goggles on my head. I'll be a diver and he can be a shark. My toddler got a Dragon costume and he loves to put it on and run around.
Since DS1 is totally into Curious George and we have a brand new monkey costume that he didn't use last year, I've been thinking of putting Rowan in the monkey costume and then dressing DS1 up like the Man in the Yellow Hat. Lol. Or... DS1 has a boxer costume and I can find a punching bag costume for Rowan.
Also, I wish I had a pause button so I can get everything done and some sleep without having to worry about anyone else.
@mrsrep123 naps are awesome! I get pretty excited when I get to take a nap.
So far same ol same ol this week. Baby has been waking up every 2 to 3 hours at night still. Continues with 25 minute cat naps all day and fusses most of the day. I think it's been over 100 days in a row since I slept through the night. I miss sleep...
Also I'm tired of feeling tired all the time. I have literally no energy. I keep pretty active with walks and taking my toddler places everyday but I'm not shedding all my weight as easily this time. I feel like an out of shape...tired...run down momma.
@lrwardrop man, I thought Rowan was emerging from this sleep regression but he, too, is waking up 2-3 hours at night and taking 2-3, 5-30 min naps during the day. I guess those couple of days last week were a fluke? He also wants to be held while walking around... you sit, he'll cry or fuss.
@mrsrep123 yesss story of my life. Baby wants to be held and walked around all day. I put him in the stroller this week without the car seat and he likes it so much better. So we have been going on 2 walks a day because it's impossible to keep him entertained and happy
@lrwardrop we picked out our costumes yesterday, we're going to be a family of beanie babies and DH is actually willing to participate so I'm excited. Also, I'm in the same boat with feeling tired of being tired. DD has been going to bed earlier so that one isn't an issue, bit between DS and DH's late work schedule and then DD being up early, I feel like I never sleep because someone always needs me or wants my attention.
@mrsrep123 I could seriously use a pause button here too...just to catch up on everything and nap kid-free would be amazing.
We seem to have gotten through the sleep regression, we're back to two wake ups during the night and day naps have gotten 10x better, he now has 2-3 at least hour long naps during the day. goes down for bed around 7pm, wakes up at 1am, 4am then he's up for the day at 7am... I am feeling amazing with all this sleep lol

DS1's school does a trunk or treat, I am thinking about doing a Toy Story theme and dressing DD as Jessie.
