Difference between pushing out and bh contractions

I should know this by now but I just can't tell the difference. Every time it happens it takes my breath away and makes me cough. The last ones never really hurt but these ones feel different. Im 27 weeks with my fourth but its been 7 years since my son was born....anyone else having this problem?

For me, BH are definitely not that intense. They usually get my attention but I can ignore them if need be, they definitely don't take my breath away! I think you should talk to your care provider to make sure you're not having signs of preterm labor!

  • I get BH often and they don't take my breath away, and aren't really painful. It's just a noticeable tightening of my uterus that only lasts about 20-30 seconds. They come and go randomly and are not regular. I agree with @failuretofly that you should speak to your doc just to be on the safe side.

  • BH, your belly will get tight all
over and won't necessarily be painful. Vs pushing out, everywhere else will be somewhat softer except for where babe is pushing.
