Re: September IVF

• @BusinessWife The protocol for triggers definitely vary. I did a 40 unit Lupron trigger and went in the following morning for blood work to see if it worked. They had already decided to do a freeze all due to OHSS risk so no hcg booster. Morning of trigger my P4 was 1.5 and estrodial over 4300.

They only retrieved half the number of expected eggs so I do wonder if the Lupron trigger alone was enough to complete the final maturation process on all the follicles.

• @sunnyrain2. I am sorry to hear you didn't get the results out of that cycle you were hoping for. Mine had actually switched me from just the HCG trigger to dual, she said to help prevent ohss. But I have also read some research (linked on page 7 or 8 I believe, of the July/August thread) that the dual trigger can yield better birth outcomes!! But I'm not sure better than what - I would have to re read, but i think it was compared to hcg alone, not to lupron alone. :/ some were even just 1,000 hcg+ lupron, so somehow even a "micro dose" of hcg in there is supposed to be beneficial? Maybe worth looking into, but I know so little about this stuff. I am just hoping my doctor knows what's best for me! :#

• @krenee124 Good, I'm so glad you called them! Let us know what they say. Mine was an IUI cycle w/ stims so I paid for follistim (which is expensive) but not NEARLY as much as what you would have to buy/put your body through for an IVF cycle and waste so I think your strategy above is sound. Good luck!!

• Xpost from TTGP IF/Testing thread...

I had my morning monitoring and second part of trigger - the doctor said when I pressed a bit, we should get 5 mature, hopefully more.

5?????? We had 10 last time! And only ended up with 3 to freeze. I sure hope we get more than 5 mature, bc at that rate, we might MAYBE just get one or two more out of an entire second cycle???? I mean don't get me wrong, 4 or 5 frosties to try would be 100% miraculous!! And really 5-7 is about what I think we would feel comfortable with in terms of eventually transferring them all. I guess I was just assuming this cycle would be about the same or better than the first one, not worse. i.e. 6-7 total. So anyway, just trying not to let it get me down too much, bc the truth is she really doesn't know, and we'll find out whenever we get the fert report. I can't remember if it was later that same day? Or the next? But it's gonna be what its gonna be, and we'll find out soon enough...
• Oh hallelujah. Just talked to my dr, we apparently have a bit of an egg quality issue. 9 retrieved, 3 immature, 2/6 left were abnormal. That being said though, 3/4 fertilized and have begun dividing. So tomorrow morning we'll be transferring the 2 best. Hoping the 3rd will stay healthy enough we can freeze it. But either way, as long as they stay healthy through today we'll be transferring tomorrow! Wasn't expecting a 3 day transfer but I can't lie and say I'm not so excited to be PUPO come tomorrow!

@BusinessWife I thought you were expecting 18ish eggs, is there a reason she's expecting 5 mature? Or has that changed in the last few days?

Sorry for the disappointing news, especially on your second cycle! Fingers crossed for more mature eggs

@buisnesswife I know exactly how you feel! That's why I was having a breakdown earlier in the week which you were so great in supporting me. It's so hard when you think that with your second cycle you will have better numbers and then it doesn't work out that way. I'll say this, you may be surprised by how many they retrieve. They got more eggs than the number of follicles I thought I had, and same with @rainbows2018! Also quality over quantity and your eggs still have time to grow between trigger and retrieval.

loverin we are numbers buddies! Mine was the same, two transferred D3 and hoping for the best for the remaining one to freeze! FX lady! How Is your body feeling today? Recovering quickly? I actually didn't find D3 much more painful then D5 so hopefully you have the same experience tomorrow. Heating pad before the transfer definitely helped!!! Thinking of you tomorrow!

@rainbows2018 yay for those numbers! Great work getting fertilized, egg babies!!

• @cmiller73 Congratulations!!!! Yes, I am tomorrow morning!!! So excited, and on my way to a nice massage now... ;)

@loverin. I don't know. Maybe she was trying to be conservative? Discrepancies in different people counting from one day to the next? I'm going to try not to worry about it and just hope for the best...
• @cmiller73 Yey! I am so excited for you! our pupo club is growing!!!! Your embryous are so cute! ( people who don't go through IVF will never understand how a cluster of cells can make you emotional)

@ businesswife during my entire cycle nobody ever discussed my bloodwork results with me so I don't even know what my levels were.
@ loverin we are excited to welcome you to pupo club tomorrow! Were you planning to transfer two from the beginning or is it a new development? Fingers crossed you get to freeze the third one as well!

AFM , I found myself driving in circles around a pharmacy talking myself out of buying a hpt. ( DH confiscated my secret stash of hpts on the day of our transfer) Sanity won this battle and I did not go in. But I am dying to test and terrified to tears at the same time. We are 5dp5dt. It will be a long wait to Friday!

@hopefulmom yep I transfere on the 18th so we are transfer buddies. I've been lurking in other threads so I am familiar with your story. How many did you transfer? Do you have any symptoms? My boobs have been sore sinse the ER so I think it is just progesteron, and I have AF like cramps on and off sinse the night after transfer. *TW with my EP in May I had gagging, sore boobs and cramping too but I am afraid to be super hopeful end TW* your beta is on Wed, right? I will have to wait till Friday, my RE is conservative like that. Fingers crossed we all get bfp's soon!

• DecemberDoll27 my beta is wed and i have to say all of your symptoms as few as they might be BUT what you describe actually sound very promising!! Its hard for me as the first time around I got my bfp with twins so all my "symptoms" were more intense...so I keep trying to remind myself of that. Only transferred one as my OH was not letting me do more (TW since we lost both at 10wks for no reason TW over). I really couldn't argue with him on this point AND I don't have as many normies to play with so hoping this one will be happy to have the place all to itself ;)

• @emmasemm lol no, sounds like fun! But I have a polypectomy scheduled for Oct 18 before we can transfer.... my clinic only does fresh if the patient's insurance mandates it, otherwise FET only.

Your party sounds wonderful! That is really big of you to be able to handle two pregnancy announcements! Kudos! ...and then the comments, of course. :/ I feeling being in the ivf treatment process has made those kind of questions a little easier to brush off and take lightly, so hopefully it didn't have to ruin your day! (((Hugs))) We are so close to VICTORY!!!
• @businesswife ahhh forgot about your polyp... but then hopefully you can join @sunnyrain2 and @rainbows2018 in the November FET club! You will be ready before you know it.
Are you up early for your ER this morning? Got my fx for you.

And yes the party was great and no it didn't ruin it. The nice things was both checked with me in advance - mostly because they knew people would ask why they weren't drinking, and both said they couldn't trust their husbands not to let the cat out of the bag after they'd had a few drinks hehe

• @emmasemm your party does sound great! I hate people with "you are next" comments though. I recently called my own grandma to chat and check on her and she blasted me with comments like : "you are no spring chicken so you should work on babymaking, you better think about growing your family and not your career, and the worst one - don't you want your own child instead of obsessing over your step son? " I swear it took all my will power not to throw my phone into a wall! I get that she is old and slightly crazy and she hopefuly means well, but really, lady? We never told her about my ep and my diagnosis to not stress her but I think nobody deserves this from family members. Rant over, sorry .

All the ladies from the PUPO club, anybody feels anything? Any crazy intuition going?
For example I looked at the picture of the embaby we transfered and imidiatly told DH that it is a boy so I m pretty sure if it sticks we will have a boy. Even though I originally wanted a girl. I can't explain that. Anybody else with something like that?

• @emmasemm you are a stronger woman than I am! Glad you had a good celebration but those comments at any friend or family gathering are always so hard.

Afm i I am officially PUPO!!!! Gosh that is so cool to say  . I don't think I've ever been more uncomfortable than I was in the waiting room with 1.5 liters of water making it's way to my bladder and knowing it was going to be an hour before I could pee! But so worth it :) Beta is 10/4, I'm debating telling DH it's going to be the day after that so I could potentially suprise him if it's positive. IVF takes a lot of the suprise out of pregnancy so id love to find a way to take this one thing back.

Starting progesterone in oil tonight, any of you ladies have to do these yourself? Any tips??

• emmasemm - wow, quite a baby-rich party you have. Glad you can be happy for your friends! We all get the baby comments, and usually it's from people closes to us that are the most painful to hear.

BTW, correction for my PUPO info: 20nd Sep 1x day 6 frozen transfer, PIO, beta Sept 30

DecemberDoll27 - wow, my parents do the things your grandma does. Almost in those exact words. And they do know about my problems and all. I think they hold it against me that I found a person I want to have children with later in life, like it was my choice. Grrr.

On the "feel anything as a PUPO" - today is my 4dp6dt, and yesterday I had cramps - just this nagging dull pain and comfortableness. Still feeling a bit of it today, but not as much. On the day of transfer my blood progesterone was waaaay low (2.7), and I pretty much decided that it's all over. I was switched from suppositories to PIO right away, but I kept thinking that it's too late. I don't know why - before the transfer I felt very hopeful. Yesterday that hopefulness returned again. I feel like my uterus is a bit "sore", and I now got the positive outlook back - something is happening there. Might be just from switching the hormones, or maybe even just an echo pain from the PIO shots, but I now believe in success again. My little boy bean is growing strong (we know the gender), attaching deeper to a nutrients-rich spot. I too look at the embryo picture I got right before the transfer, and keep believing that it will work.

@loverin. Congratulations on being PASP!!!! ❤❤❤ fx for more good news in the 4th...

@emmasemm. Yes! I think FET will be early November, hopefully in time for positive betas by Thanksgiving!!!

Thanks ladies for all the love!!!

I just got home a little bit ago, and we are going to settle in and rest, but it went well! We know they were not all mature, and we have to wait til Monday for the fert report but...

We got 21 eggs!!!!

The nurse told me they get fertilized about 5 hours later, and the procedure went from 7:05AM to 7:25AM, I was back resting and waking. So praying for beautiful fertilization, and thinking of them especially around noontime when my lil girls get to meet their boyfriends!!! :D

• @emmasemm thanks for pulling all of our info together! (I am crinone vaginally and beta on 10/5)

AFM its only 1dp3dt so lots of bloating still and crampiness. So much so I woke up twice in the middle of the night with some (what I am assuming) gas pain. I also slept like 10.5 hours last night... bless DH for letting me sleep in. This time he is forcing me to take it very easy, doting on me and making sure I don't get a wild hair and decide to go out and till the garden for winter crops or something crazy like that.

SO I am bored. VERY BORED. I get laundry and vacuuming duty. And meal planning/invite making for our Christmas gathering (we are hosting his parents and sister/her family for Christmas this year... sooooo that should be fun.)

At least October is shaping up to be a great month, our 3rd anniversary escape to the mountains in Vermont, and we see the Boston Symphony Orchestra perform Nightmare Before Christmas on Halloween! :)

@BusinessWife FX for your retrieval this morning!
@loverin CONGRATS on joining the PUPO club! :)
@DecemberDoll27 As far as symptoms, I wouldn't think I should feel anything for another few days since it was a Day3 transfer but I am super twingy, tired and have sore nipples (sorry if TMI, but these were sore even a few days before retrieval this time... weird.)

Also: I swear I have no idea if the Crinone is 'in there' or I'm getting it all in.... my applicator is a two piece thingy and doesn't look like the ones I find in online videos... and UGH. #discharge But I guess its somewhat better than a shot in the a$$ every night?
• cmiller73 sore nipples is a good indicator that crinone does make it there ;)

• Congrats to everyone who’s PUPO!

Fx for a great fert report @BusinessWife That’s a promising number of eggs!

Thanks @Hopeful_mom :) So glad you finally got to transfer! I think of your negative microdose lupron protocol experience from time to time since that’s what I’m on now - but trying to keep the faith.

@emmasemm That sounds like a great party, though the multiple pregnancy announcements a little challenging. I admire your grace :). We also got married last year though I’ll be 40 in a couple of weeks. I also feel you on the ridiculous (for just two people) house in a neighborhood with tons of young kids (“well, we *TW* WERE pregnant when we bought the house...”*end TW*). Sometimes when people ask about our kid plans (like a pregnant coworker did just the other day), I will just tell them about our *TW* loss (she was further along than 12 weeks).

@cmiller73 That sounds like a lovely anniversary trip!

AFM, I had my first monitoring appointment Friday morning (after 3 nights of stims) and the Dr. reduced my stims (from 450 to 375, down to 300 tomorrow night). I had couple 11s and 7 less than 10 on the R and like a 12 and an 11 and 6 less than 10 on the L. Lining already 10mm and trilaminar. At first after the u/s, he said I didn’t need blood work and to continue on the same dose, but the nurse had already drawn my blood so he took a look and subsequently decided to make a change based on the blood work (I was kind of wondering about my E2 anyway b/c of CM so early...).

New RE, but this is actually the first time I’ve had stims reduced, so I don’t know what that means in terms of how this will end up. Anyone had any experience with stepping down stims? Good news is that as of Friday AM I had no dominant follicle about which I was concerned since I had no suppression before. Next appt isn’t till Tuesday (because of my preferred location).

Hope everyone’s having a great weekend!

• Wonderful to see so many people PUPO! Next stop betas!

@artemis618 I don't have personal experience but as long as you don't have a dominant follicle I imagine it should be fine!

@cmiller76 I've been on crinone before and was reassured that it does get in there even if you have remnants on the applicator or extensive buildup. GL!

Afm -- thanks for asking @emmasemm, I'm doing ok. I now have 7 follicles between 10-14mm so my RE is expecting a retrieval on Thurs or Fri. I hope a few more will catch up between now and then. The increase in Follistim did help significantly but I guess I was hoping for more? I'll be giving my ovaries a @businesswife style pep talk each day between now and my next monitoring appt on Tues!

• @cxsimo08 - I called and doctor said we can't do the estrogen level test because I'm on birth control (duh! I forgot that was giving me estrogen) .. so back to the drawing board. I am stopping birth control Monday. We will have ultrasound Thursday morning and then will start stims Thursday night if things look okay. I am going to come up with questions I need to ask to feel good about this!

@Hopeful_mom hi! Good, but sad to see you back. I'm so sorry about our May transfers. :disappointed: I think that's where we met last. Best of luck with this beta on wednesday!!! Fingers crossed for you!
• @emmasemm you are so sweet to add me! Thank you!!!
• Thanks @emmasemm for the spreadsheet! :) Get some rest!

WOWZERS @BusinessWife, that is an awesome retrieval! FX for a great fert report :)

Who was asking about self administering PIO? Really, it is not that bad, its all about the technique and my nurse really helped set my mind at ease. Thumb on the hip, stretch out your fingers parallel to the floor and then pinch. AKA: "grab your muffin top" according to my nurse! I iced the area first and didn't feel a thing, my previous FET my hubby did my injections and we did not ice and I felt it all. Have faith in your strength! and Thank the Lord for 25g injection needles (and not the thicker ones they send for mixing!)
• loverin congrats on being PUPO!! The full bladder does take a minute, how long after did you have to wait before getting relief? Hopefully its all worth it in the end! Your OH can't help you with the shot? THere are some that do it themselves but this is one shot I like to have done for me! They do say to massage the area after and walk around so its not as sore, good luck!! I think its great you want to surprise your DH hope you get the opportunity!!

• @loverin congrats on being PUPO!
@emmasemm you are fantasticaly awesome for putting that spreadsheet together!

AFM, I am spotting a little and it freaks me out! ( I know it could be a million of different things like implantation bleeding or cervix irritated by vaginal inserts, or my ohhh so lovely stitch in my V post ER). *TW I think I am having a flash back into my EP nightmare and spotting was the first thing that started it* end TW and I think my boob hurt less today, and it is stupid but it makes me upset too!
I did not tell DH since he is stresses already. My step son twisted his ankle today badly so we spent our morning in the ER. He is ok now so that's good news.

I am crazy and I know it, I freak out and think the worst about every little thing. I wish I could talk to my mom about it, but she does not know about our IVF adventure ( I told her we will do it in 2018)
Sorry for the load of pessimism but I have no other outlet. I just hope my little peanut is fine in there

• Thank you for creating that @emmasemm! Amazing to see it all in one place. This lil group has done so much this month!

@DecemberDoll27 Hugs, that stuff can really twist your mind because every symptom can be for pregnancy or for AF. Keep breathing until your beta! I'm glad your stepson is ok.

• Thank you @adirat and hopeful_mom! I think stress just got to me and everything is actually fine. And it was like 3 drops of blood total.
I just need to calm down.
Hopeful_mom are you planning on doing hpt before beta?

DecemberDoll27 I usually give in the day before...I like that i say usually when there really was the one other time last november. With my fire vag it has been a distraction to say the least...
