Re: September IVF

  • @cmiller73 as much is your situation is stressful right now, I still think that you should keep positive and just go with it. I also read that article about embryos self correcting and out of 4 your chances are really good!

@loverin it will be the middle of the night here when you get to transfer. But if I wake up with my nightly 15 min of cramping session I will send you all the positive thoughts I got. I have my beta next Friday 11dp5dt which seems like I lifetime away. This TWW is already a mindf**k and we transferred only 3 days ago. One minute I feel totally optimistic and 15 min later I am ready to break into tears about the cycle being a bust.... And all the hormones are getting me extra crazy. BTW, I get the whole Brit in Germany thing. My DH and I are actually Russians currently living in the US. And I love your siggy, GBBO is my absolute favorite thing to watch, they just recently put the last season on netflix and I binge watched it all after my ER.

  • @cmiller73 great news to going for a freshie! And you will transfer all 4???
And yes the research is not easy to make head nor tail of, but if you look for the PGS testing research thread that came up this week, that might also help put your mind at ease. As much as we would like to think it's perfect science we're dealing with here, Mother Nature definitely still has a mind of her own and the science is a long way from matching her awesome skills. I mean, when you actually look in detail at what happens in detail to go from separate egg and sperm to a day 2-3 embryo it's totally mind blowing. To be honest I have no idea how the human race has thrived when you look what those two gametes have to accomplish. And even the mitochondria in the egg too... I'm normally a practical scientific reason-based person, but this experience is really making me believe in miracles.

@Decemberdoll27 thanks!!! How long have you live in the US? I've spent quite a bit of time in Russia too. My organization built a transformer factory in Voronezh a few years ago, so I was a very regular visitor for a few years!

  • @emmasemm OH yeah... after this, I swear that people who conceive naturally have no clue how lucky they are.

@adirat Hubby was like "hope that 1-2 decide to stick around versus 3-4" oooh. Did NOT consider those options, however unlikely due to my age!

@DecemberDoll27 Thanks for the well wishes. I firmly believe the PMA will make all the difference :)
  • @BusinessWife you are such a trooper! hoping you get your Sunday retrieval! And I second you on the last night of stims EVER!
@loverin, sorry I tagged you earlier, I meant to tag @emmasemm
@emmasemm I have been in the states since 2009 and met my DH here ( he moved here way before me in 1991). I am actually glad we got to go through IVF here and not in Russia since the medical science is still a little behind there)
@adirat I am sorry you are going through the frustration with the cycle not going as good as you hoped. Part of it is just exhaustion and hormones. Ones you go through your ER and your body gets back to normal, it will get better. It is a very dark place closer to ER, you just have to get through and hope for the best. And I struggled with headaches too, the only thing that helped was excedrin migrane. I am not sure if it is DR approved for IVF patients but it helped me keep my sanity.

  • Hi September ladies! This will be our first IVF, I'm on CD1 today so we have some time to go. RE wants us to do 3 weeks of birth control, another AF, then go into stims. Anyone else doing this protocol? I have to call RE tomorrow and get set up with my "calendar of events".

Me: 31, AMH is 1.4, taking Synthroid for low thyroid
DH: 31, had a vasectomy 8 years ago.

The worst part about all this is the financial stuff! We live in MI with no infertility coverage and it's killing us OOP!
  • @adirat so sorry about your loss. *TW I’ve had 4 early losses in the last year and it was extremely traumatic. End TW*. I can’t imagine how hard it must be for you. We are scheduled to do a PGS but if we only have 1-2 embryos make it to blast then I am seriously considering just going through with an FET without the testing. GL on your transfer - I’m with your husband on 2 sticking
  • The embryologist called today. Even though we had another blast today it didn't have the internal structures necessary to develop a placenta so they didn't freeze it. We have the two "beautiful" blasts frozen yesterday.

Af started tonight, 6 days after ER. The nurse warned me this could happen in a Lupron trigger freeze all cycle since there is no additional hormone support after ER. I'll call the nurse in the morning to find out when the FET will be. My clinic only cycles every two months so the next cycle isn't until November.

                    FET # 3 Nov 2017
  • @sunnyrain2. Congrats on your two beautiful blasts!  I know it's hard when you lose any.  DH was really bummed when we got our freeze report, bc he didn't feel right "celebrating" the three we had, when there were three we lost, too. :/  fx getting started on the next fet cycle will help you feel more excited about things! And the break may be a good thing physically /emotionally, too?  DH was even concerned about us rushing into FET, but I think for us with the surgery and BCPs and all, probably November transfer too, that will provide a healthy mental break, too.  This stuff can be exhausting! (((Hugs)))
  • <b>Update/non-update: </b>scan and labs done for the morning, but not entirely conclusive if we will in fact trigger tonight or push one more day...

    L: 4@13, 4@15, 1@17, 1@19, (8 <10)

<span>Gotta just wait for the call / vm from the nurse...</span>
  • Okay... so first of all... I have a beautiful 4 cell 2 day old embryo on board!
I have a photo of it from this morning, and watched on the screen as they prepared everything and afterwards to check that the tube it was sitting in was really empty.
Quick, painless, but very emotional! Seeing it on the screen and holding the photo made it suddenly very very real.
Now it's just taking the progesterone vaginally daily and we wait and see!!!
My RE said no HIO (and no orgasms :-(), no strenuous exercise and no lifting, to eat like I am already KU and otherwise try to relax (haha!!!) and see what happens.
My beta date is 6th October, so really 14 days away and he said he "can't stop me testing before that at home" but not to take any results either way conclusive until we have the beta...
So tomorrow morning I will start testing out the trigger ;-)

@adirat :-) for decision trees! Will you wait until Monday for next monitoring?

@artemis618 gl for your first monitoring!

@businesswife fx they give you the go ahead - that's quite a nice bunch of follies of similar sizes you are growing there!

@sunnyrain2 you have two beautiful blasts, and although I can imagine you hoped a few more would make it, it is two! Two more than you had a week ago.
Though wow I didn't realize AF could come so soon without additional meds... that is super fast

@decemberdoll27 if it's ok for you I'm going to take a seat with you in the PUPO club :-)
@cmiller73 you get to join us tomorrow!!!

@cxsimo08 when is your next update?

@zildjian95 welcome to this crazy rollercoaster! We're all at different stages, and @businesswife is aiming for a second retrieval within the month!

  • @rainbows2018 I am thinking of you! It will go great

@emmasemm It was getting lonely at the PUPO club so I am very excited you are joining! May I ask what's you progesterone dosage? It seems like on other boards everybody is doing PIO shots instead of vaginaly so I was worried my dosage is somehow not enough  ( I am an overanalyzer and I panic about everything). So I am actually a little relaxed now that you are doing progesterone vaginally too. Maybe it is a European thing since my RE is originally from Belgium.

@sunnyrain2 Congratulations on the two beautiful frosties! Are you planning to transfer one at a time or two together?

@BusinessWife fingers crossed for trigger tonight!

@cmiller73 Today is the day! PUPO club will have 3 members! Hoping for the smooth transfer!

  • @rainbows2018 Good luck today! Fingers crossed for 8 beautiful eggs!

@cmiller73 sorry for the quick change in plan, every small change in our plans has been tough because you prepare yourself for what you expect. I can imagine your mind was spinning yesterday! Good luck transferring them all tomorrow!

@artemis618 I'm currently on doxy but only for a day or two after ER and same for transfer. It is a pain to remember! Hope your appointment goes well today!

@adirat the headache is the WORST! I had to drink coffee, it's the only thing that kept mine at bay since we can't do more than Tylenol. I'd been off caffeine for 2 months before so for sure wasn't a caffeine headache. At least you guys have some insurance help and can plan accordingly! We are completely OOP and I find it so frustrating that wanting to have a family is an elective thing to insurances!

@zildjian95 welcome! We did the bcp before but I was on it for almost 6 weeks just to control my cycle. We are completely OOP too which adds a layer of pressure as well, I feel you on that!

@sunnyrain2 congrats on your 2 beautiful embies!

@BusinessWife you've got a good number of eggs going  Fingers crossed that you can trigger tonight so as not to mess with work stuff, it's hard to not be obvious when so much is going on with IVF!

@emmasemm congrats!! Officially PUPO!! Don't do anything at all but don't stress either as the doctors like to say :)

AFM egg retrieval went ok yesterday. We got 9 eggs, RE said there was some issue with my ovaries as the eggs did not come out easily. I'm trying hard not to worry or overanalyze because I could drive myself completely insane. I'll get a fertilization report tomorrow and will hopefully schedule a transfer date then. Not knowing after those last words to my DH is killing me but I'm getting out of the house today to take my mind off of the what ifs.

Im wondering if either I was too suppressed (bcp for 6 weeks) or if I wasn't quite ready to ovulate if that would cause the eggs to be harder to retrieve. I normally ovulate late in my cycle (cd 17-20 usually) and if maybe my body just fought the process? I'm sure it could be a number of things if it was even the result of decisions for this process and not just what my body would have given regardless.

Obviously not not doing so hot not over analyzing, this process is brutal!

  • @loverin hang in there, 9 is still a good number. Hoping for good fert report tomorrow. Just try to stay positive and treat yourself to something nice. I always tell myself that worrying over something I can't change is pointless, because ,well , outcome will be one way or another regardless of your stress. Only time will tell. Just try to stay positive ( easier said than done), we are all in the same boat here with you and cheering for you and your little ones. IF sucks! Virtual hug.

  • @decemberdoll27 yay to the PUPO club!
My progesterone is 8% crinone. I apply it every morning.
My RE said as we don't know of any issues, since my lining was great (trilaminar and 12mm) and unless I get any problems then this is what we will do this time. He also said the evidence between the different effectiveness of different progesterone dosing methods is patchy, since blood levels are cyclical and they are not sure if vaginal and blood levels really match...
Though I have to say I am already feeling the effects after only 3 days - super tired, sore nipples, feeling nauseous... this is really going to mess with my mind in a week's time...

@loverin completely understandable to analyze and then put the questions to your RE! Though 9 is a great number and I have everything crossed for a good fert report tomorrow

  • @emmasemm we got married on the 22nd, 18th of December is DH's b-day and mine in on the 23rd, so we chose a date in between. And we planed the wedding in 10 days, it was very small court house ceremony, just family and very  close friends, only 20 people. We were saving for a destination wedding but then decided to spend that money on IVF instead. I have no regrets, it was very cozy and romantic in it own way.
I am on Endometrin 100mg 3 times a day and it hits me hard. I have all the symptoms you can imagine: sore boobs, bloating, vivid dreams, night sweats, mood swings and oh so awesome constipation ( sorry TMI). But at least it make symptom spotting kind of pointless. Ohhh and I did make up in the middle of the night for a cramping session again so I sent you and your little peanut good sticky thoughts.

  • @decemberdoll27 we also decided on quite short notice to have our wedding just the two of us. But as my sister had a big wedding 8 months before most of the family was still "all weddinged out" and I think we're kind of relieved and not surprised as I am known for doing things differently ;-)

I am not looking forward to the symptoms getting stronger, but you're right that we won't be able to tell anyway, not sure it will stop me though hehe

Obviously my peanut was listening across the Atlantic!

Oh and I forgot to mention in all my crazy excitement earlier - today is my DHs birthday, so the ET was the perfect gift :-)

@emmasemm Yay for weddings in Vegas!  I got married there in 2012. It was a surprise wedding a week after our first IVF. Surprise as in we weren't engaged and I didn't know about it. We were going for a long holiday weekend with friends and DH planned the whole thing (theme wedding, I laughed the entire time). I was the last to know and only found out about it the day before because I had to go with him to get the marriage license. Lots of fun had by all. We do things differently as well :)

@DecemberDoll27 we'll transfer both embryos. If I had three I would transfer three.  I've already had two failed transfers of two embryos each this year so my RE would be ok transferring more

                                 19R, 13M, 12F, No Transfer - 2 "beautiful" blasts frozen
                    FET # 3 Nov 2017
  • @emmasemm and @Sunnyrain2 I second doing thing differently, life is too boring if you do everything like everybody else. ( except babymaking, I will take the old fashioned way any day but I guess I can't change it so no point in complaining.) @sunnyrain2 surprise wedding sounds like so much fun! How did you go about getting a dress on such a short notice? I ordered mine on amazon 1 week before the wedding and lucky enough it was a perfect fit.
Ladies, I am dying to POAS and I am terrified of a BFN. I do not know how I will survive till next Friday.

  • There are a ton of comments on here! I have been following here and there bc was supposed to start stims last week. When I went in for baseline, there was an "old follicle" left behind - guessing from last cycle which was a break cycle. It measured at 14mm. Today if measured at 12mm. Doctor says I am clear to get off birth control Monday and get started stimming Thursday. I am so nervous to stim with an already 12mm follicle. Has anyone had this happen?! I do not want to ruin this cycle. This is my 2nd IVF and I'm not sure we will be able to afford to do again!

@DecemberDoll27, @artemis618, @rainbows2018, @BusinessWife and @emmasemm Thank you so much for your responses.  I was an absolute wreck all day Wednesday. Thursday I forced myself to go to work to distract myself.  I think I just had a breakdown because last time, out of 10 fertilized eggs none did well so I thought with 4 it would be the same poor results and I would end up in the procedure room on transfer day again with no hope.  Anyway, I apologize for my insensitivity, I know 4 eggs is more than most could hope for, I just didn't want to feel like this was for nothing again.  I did speak to my doctor late Wednesday night and she told me it was what you had said @emmasemm.  The 6 non-ICSI eggs were not 100% mature, they were close but not quite viable for ICSI.  Unfortunately, they said they couldn't do it the old fashion way (which I would have wanted) because they had already stripped off the sunburst cells to support natural insemination.  This doesn't really make sense to me but at this point it is what it is, they got rid of them.  She said it points to poor egg quality so I'm trying to cope with that diagnosis and figure out what I can do to improve.

The good news is, I was prepared today to go in for transfer and have no viable embryos (quite the pessimistic defense mechanism) but since it's day 3, I had two 7 cell and one 11 cell!!!! So they transferred two and are going to give the second 7 a chance to grow to blast.  The procedure was much more painful because of my very tilted cervix/uterus (and not overfilled bladder) but she got it done. Praying, praying, praying this works.  Thank you all again for your support <3

@adirat How is the increase in Follistim going? I did a stim IUI once and was in the same boat with limited follicles, when they increased it helped a bunch catch up!

@cmiller73 I'm so sorry to hear your ER was so rough!  Lots of rest! It sounds like we're numbers twins, 14 eggs, 4 fertilized so fingers crossed! Maybe new lucky numbers for us! When is your transfer?

@FuzzyDust How did your transfer go?! I hope it went well and you're feeling good.  <3

@sunnyrain2 congrats on your transfer! Thinking of you

@emmasemm Happy birthday to your DH! I'm so glad to hear your little one looked great and the transfer went well!!

@decemberdoll27 and @emmasemm we got married December 28th (2013) but in Massachusetts! Yay winter weddings!

@loverin I'm glad to hear your ER went well.  Are you getting your fertilization results today?  You're doing D5 right?

@BusinessWife congrats on your last night of Stims.  Is Sunday officially scheduled yet?

@krenee124 I would be careful and consider getting a second opinion.  It sounds like a "cyst" /leftover follicle.  Did they tell you if it was producing estrogen? My doctor said your estrogen level should be under 100 at baseline, if it's over 100 it means the leftover follicle is producing estrogen.  This happened to me when I did an IUI with stims (mine was only like 5-6mm, estrogen at baseline was around 123 so not much over 100) and what happened was that follicle/cyst ate up all the stims so nothing else grew and the cyst got huge- ended up being almost 40mm!! It was a total waste of $$/meds/time and we ended up canceling after 12 days of stiming, because nothing else was growing, so I would just check on the estrogen and maybe get a second opinion before moving forward.

@DecemberDoll27 let the countdown begin!! :)

  • @cxsimo08 woohoo welcome to our little PUPO club!
And it's now three December wedding girls hehe.

A 7 and an 11 day 3 sounds right on track (and the 11 even a little ahead) so fx!!!
And for the other 7cell to keep growing to freeze!

Also relieved to hear the "not all ICSI" issue was down to something sensible, not down to incompetence. Yes I think she's right it could be due to poor quality, but can be due to other issues (e.g. Protocol, timing) so all is not lost. Do you already take CoQ10?

@decemberdoll27 oh dear, if you're hoping I will discourage you from testing you might be wrong there! I will test in the morning to start to test out my HCG trigger. Of course once that is negative then I will keep testing until beta day (unless AF arrives). I am fully stocked up on cheapy strips for the first part and with some "just in case" FRERs and Digis for the "is that or isn't that a line" phase in the 4-5 days approaching beta!

@krenee124 I echo what @cxsimo08 said. Be your own advocate and ask for those Estrogen numbers, just to make sure.

@emmanemm I started taking CoQ10 but just for about a month now.  Honestly, and it's shame on me, with undiagnosed and good numbers on eggs etc. I didn't think about doing extra supplements other than prenatals.  I got a second opinion after my last IVF and he said CoQ10 so I started after that.  Someone also told me DHEA.  Have you tried it?  Is there anything else I should be thinking of? My acupuncturist this week told me I needed to eat extremely healthy for 3 months and exercise every day and not eat cheese or ice-cream (my downfall).  I will try to focus on my diet better and look at supplements as well.

Last time I did IVF I didn't test at all lol, I think I was just tired of the BFN's, but your above strategy of seeing your HCG lower is definitely sound.  I will consider it so me, you and @decemberdoll27 can be buddies lol!

Is everyone doing progesterone in oil IM shots? I am starting to get sore!!

  • cxsimo08, thanks for asking - transfer went great. They did have to do it twice, as the first time the embryo stuck to the catheter, but my MA said that every time she saw this happen before, it resulted in a pregnancy. So fingers crossed for determined sticky embie! My Progesterone on the transfer day was way low at 2.7, so they switched me from suppositories to PIO - ouch!
I'm trying very hard not to over-analyze everything I feel. Is it just tight jeans, or implantation pinch? It is my stomach growling, or implantation going? It's pretty maddening. I'm pretty sure I'll start POAS next week :)

Congrats on your transfer, and welcome to the PUPO club!!! When is your Beta?

  • @DecemberDoll27. It's a dual trigger.  So I'll be taking 40 units of lupron along with 2500 HCG tonight, then another 40 of lupron tomorrow, 12 hours apart.  Weird, right?  Same as last time. And they just told me to keep the extra HCG in case they want me to take any additional HCG as well.
  • @emmasemm. I'm not there yet, but I will be on PIO as well for transfer. :p
  • @BusinessWife I did dual trigger too but mine was 40 lupron and 7500 hcg at the same time. Mindblowing how many different protocols there are

  • @BusinessWife Yay for ER on Sunday!
@DecemberDoll27 DH arranged for everything with the wedding: dress, rings, chapel, streaming webcast for friends and family, etc.  I thought it was weird he kept insisting I pack this white summer dress that he had purchased for me a few weeks before because he had never bought me clothes before (or since).  It was fun and casual.  He rented a tux and I had my summer dress.  If I was really insistent there is a booming wedding attire rental business in LV and I could have rented a traditional dress.  But I didn't care about it.

AFM: Nurse called and FET will be the week of 11/13.  I go in for BW 10/13 to see if I ovulated, if so I start Lupron and wait for my next AF.  AF should be around 10/20 if it's not thrown off by this weird short IVF cycle.

  • Hi Ladies, thank you for the kind wishes - the ER procedure went well but post op is kicking my butt. They got 15 - YES 15 eggs even though we went in expecting 8. In my drugged up state I even forgot to ask why the discrepancy. We get the Fert. Report sometime Tomm so Fx for that.

@sunnyrain2Yay for the FET date. I think mine will end up being sometime in Nov so we can be transfer buddies.

@BusinessWife GL on the trigger - you’re almost there with this leg of the journey.

@FuzzyDust @emmasemm and @cxsimo08 congratulations on being PUPO!! Sending baby dust your way.

@emmasemm sounds like the transfer went great - I totally get how this makes it real for you!! Surprise wedding sounds total bada$$ and romantic at the same time. How nice of your husband to plan the whole thing.

@cxsimo08 not insensitive at all. We all get the hormonal up and downs triggered (no pun intended) by this process.

@loverin Fx for a good Fert report.
  • I am so relieved to be THIS CLOSE to being done.  We will be happy to move on from the stimming stuff and fx onward and upward to all the transfers!

@DecemberDoll27. I think the specific doses have more to do with your actual hormone levels.  They tell me too, to hang onto the rest of the HCG in case my estrogen is not as high as they would like, they might have me take some more tomorrow, alone with the lupron part deaux.  Do you know what your levels we're? Now I'm curious!  Today I was at P= 0.5 and E = 2350
  • @cxsimo08 & @emmasemm thank you ladies! This is exactly what I needed to hear. I just left a message (it's midnight where I live) at the doctors office to request blood work Mon or Thurs. I'm sure they already think im crazy but I need this to work and be successful. @cxsimo08 I would have gone completely irate if my cycle got cancelled bc they thought it would be ok!
