  • 1. How many weeks are you? How big is baby?
18 weeks!!! Almost half way there! :D -TB says it's an artichoke.. however big an artichoke is lol.

    2. How are you feeling?
Overwhelmed... can't sleep. Hungry but not. Actually had some nausea last night which I haven't had since mid August. Weird dreams still, if I can sleep. Accidentally smacked my boob yesterday with my key fob to get into work.. almost put me in tears. Emotions are higher. But I'm so in love with my little smoosh!

    3. Any appointments next week?
    Nope :)

    4. Rants, raves, questions?
    Nope!

    5. GTKY: What were you like as a teenager?
Oh boy... well. I actually never partied or drank alcohol until I was 21. I got good grades.. never broke the law. But then I met my DH. I snuck out all the time to meet up with him, lol. That's probably the worst thing I've ever done. Other than that, I was a pretty good girl, haha!

  • 1. How many weeks are you? How big is baby?
    15 weeks - a navel orange

    2. How are you feeling?
Pretty good, I don't have a ton of energy during the week but I have noticed increased energy on the weekends (mainly Saturday morning haha)

    3. Any appointments next week?
Ugh, next week starts my weekly check up appointments.  I'm high risk because of an auto-immune disease which could cause issues in heart development.  At 16 weeks is when the placenta starts absorbing antibodies from the mother, good and bad so basically my bad antibodies could possibly start causing problems at week 16 so I have to go every week to my OB's office to have them listen to baby's heart beat to make sure that it stays within the normal range.  While I'm glad for the extra precautions this whole going to the dr's office every week so early in pregnancy is getting a little old.

    4. Rants, raves, questions?
see above for mild rant! :)

    5. GTKY: What were you like as a teenager?

Well if you asked my parents I was bad...I was a good kid in highschool, didn't really drink or go to parties, got good grades, graduated with honors, got a scholarship to college.  I went a little crazy in college with drinking and partying (it was my first time away from home and hey, why not?) but not getting arrested crazy.  I still graduated college with honors but in between entering and graduating I went a little...wild :D

    1. How many weeks are you? How big is baby?
15 weeks. Ovia gives me four choices size-wise, and today I'll go with éclair (cos my grandma used to buy them for me on Sundays). Four inches long, tho!? Seems huge all of a sudden.

    2. How are you feeling?
Not the greatest. I feel like my mood has been all over the place & I can get into this place where I weep at the slightest (imaginary) insult (like, "my cat looked at me weird  :'( wahhhh"). My husband is a few weeks into his first teaching job ever and is (understandably) stressed and busy and overwhelmed, but I keep feeling so sensitive at him, feeling that he should be more enveloped by Baby (like me, who has no choice). Sigh.

@crossfitbabybump I've been having trouble sleeping too. I'm SUCH a back sleeper, and I'm getting to the point now where I either literally feel uncomfortable that way and/or get paranoid I'm cutting off blood supply to my baby/brain. If my cat (I swear she hates me now! see above!) or bladder wakes me up at 4 am, I'm done for.

    3. Any appointments next week?
No! I'm feeling a little fragile today and really wanna hear my baby's heartbeat, but I don't think I can call up my midwife office for that purpose haha.

    4. Rants, raves, questions?
Really fixated on trying to feel my baby move! It's really nice out, so I should make myself take a hike.

    5. GTKY: What were you like as a teenager?
Riot grrl theater geek meets the Grateful Dead. Made straight-As, smoked a little pot, and carefully lied to parents about my whereabouts (and got away with it). Was mostly a good kid tho: my best friend and I just made ourselves chunky hemp jewelry and danced a lot and wondered about the universe whilst trespassing to beautiful places at night.

  • @crossfitbabybump When is your anatomy scan?  You must be getting close!

    1. How many weeks are you? How big is baby?
13 - the size of a hot jalapeno

    2. How are you feeling? Definitely starting to feel better.  I still have no bump but I feel like I'm definitely just looking thicker.  I can't wait to have a bump and actually look pregnant! I've started using Bio Oil 2x a day in hopes that it will improve the appearance of my stretch marks, which I'm sure I will get plenty of, from the start.  I have super pale, sensitive skin so I hope this will help.  At the very least it feels pretty nice!

    3. Any appointments next week? Nope not til 16 weeks.  These appointments are all sort of boring anyways lol.  I'm so used to going to the fertility specialist and having an ultrasound every time and a blood draw and tons of into.  At my midwife appt this week it was just blood pressure, doppler, and "So ..... do you have any questions?"  lol.  Pretty underwhelming!  But the 20 week appt will be so cool and I can't wait for that!

    4. Rants, raves, questions? My midwife office sent me the estimate for my bill for birth and it's slightly confusing.  It gives me a total, but then says since I have a deductible there could be more charges... why?  Why not just decide right this moment what you will charge me since you know my insurance info?  Side eye.  I'm nervous the total will end up being a total random surprise and way higher than the estimate they gave me.

    5. GTKY: What were you like as a teenager?  I had clinical depression and generalized anxiety so I was a bit of a mess.  I was really into reading and painting and I had a few close friends who I really cared about.  Even though I struggled with my mental health I definitely wasn't a bad kid - I was generally respectful to all adults, had a good fear of authority, did decently in school and also worked part time. Thankfully my depression was likely brought on by puberty so by the time I got into college I started improving drastically and haven't felt depressed in many, many years now.  I am sort of nervous about post partum depression though.  I've already warned H and my mom knows to keep an eye on me too.
  • @LaurenAnn0405 Oh wow I'm sorry you'll have to be so heavily monitored!  Hopefully all the monitoring will help keep your mind at ease and worry less though.  I'm very familiar with the weekly and even multiple times per week appointments (with the RE) so I feel you on the rant about that.  Hopefully it's close to home or work!

@orbmaker Sorry you've been feeling so down!  I really recommend getting your own doppler.  They are pretty cheap and it is just so wonderful to hear baby's little heart whenever you want.  It always cheers me up if I'm feeling down.
  • @antoto I've honestly been thinking about it! do you recommend one in particular?

I think they are probably all pretty similar.  I have this one:  https://www.groupon.com/deals/gs-us-sonoline-b-3mhz-fetal-heart-doppler-baby-monitor-lcd-backlight and it works just fine.
  • @orbmaker - I hope you feel better! sending good vibes your way <3

yes I am so tired of side sleeping already but I get paranoid too sleeping on my back. And my belly feels super tight when I lay on my back so I just can't anymore. but I did buy a body pillow and that's been so comfy!! :)

    @antoto - my next apt is Oct. 17th and I can't wait!! :D

I feel like this is going by so much faster now-a-days, too!

  • @antoto - I also agree with the post partum depression. really worries me because I know a lot of friends and close family that went through it, too. Good vibes your way as well :)

Also, thank you for this! I've been looking for a good one and this looks almost like the one my OB uses. Can't wait!! :)

@antoto @crossfitbabybump thanks  <3 I took time off from work this week cos my PTO bank is dangerously close to max, so I've just been putzing around the house alone all day, like, organizing the closets. Not helping!

ETA: also some worries here about postpartum depression (or even during-pregnancy depression!), since I have a history of depression/anxiety, esp around big life transitions (gulp). I've never taken meds, and for most of my existence just wrote off periods of melancholy as part of the artist life (am also a painter), but I actually e-mailed a therapist yesterday to get ahead of all this.
  • 1. How many weeks are you? How big is baby?
16, avocado or pickle depending on the app.
    2. How are you feeling?
Constant pressure in abdomen, and exhausted.  I think the 2nd trimester energy boost is a straight up myth.
    3. Any appointments next week?
Yes, on Wednesday just a general blood test and possible ultrasound.
    4. Rants, raves, questions?
Rant.  I feel more irritable than I did in the first trimester. Dh is probably ready to strangle me because I've been so b*itchy and angry all the time.  I'm not one of those women who enjoy being pregnant.  Also getting irritated with friends inviting me to alcoholic events.  I'm glad they are trying to keep me included, but I just sit there uncomfortably most of the time.
    5. GTKY: What were you like as a teenager?
    Really quiet and shy.
  • @vaewelch I keep turning down invites to alcohol related events as well.  Someone invited me out for trivia and like... when is that fun if you aren't drinking with everyone else?? It does feel nice to be included but... pass.  I'll stay at home snacking on the couch watching Netflix instead.
  • @orbmaker - enjoy the time off!! My PTO is just about empty for this year so I've been holding onto what I can lol! I also agree with the depression during big life changes, that's I think what scares me the most. I'm glad to have a support group here of awesome ladies though!

If you ever need to chat, feel free to message me!

    1. How many weeks are you? How big is baby? 16 weeks!! Baby is an avocado

    2. How are you feeling? Feeling alright. Having some issues with blood in my urine that we just can't figure out, so it's causing some stress.

    3. Any appointments next week? Minus my random trips to the Dr because of blood in my urine, next appt is on the 3rd :)

    4. Rants, raves, questions? Just wish we could figure out why I have blood in my urine.

    5. GTKY: What were you like as a teenager? I was pretty good. No drugs, no drinking, no parties. Worked a ton because I loved making $$. Only thing I did that my mom didn't approve of was have sex.
ETA: I have been feeling my little bambino moving pretty consistently, which is awesome. But when I set in the car with my seatbelt on they stretch completely out and it's gives me this weird pressure sensation in my sides lol
