TTGP Grad Check In 9/21

I thought I would go ahead and start one of these for the first time to see how everyone has been doing recently.

Hey there TTGPers! How are things going? Let's do a casual check in, but if questions/structure help you, then here are the usual to use as guidelines:

How far along are you?

How are you feeling?

Any recent/upcoming appointments?

Re: TTGP Grad Check In 9/21

  • I'm 7+2 today and nausea is kicking my ass.  Today (so far) hasn't been too terrible, so I'm crossing my fingers. Makes me wonder why I tried so hard to have another one, and then I immediately feel guilty for thinking that. First appointment isn't until 10/2 and I'm still hoping that they'll do an US.  FX.

  • @sandbar517 yay! I forget, you switched OB's right? I would totally call and ask if they do US's with the initial appt. No shame.
@doxiemoxie212 yay congrats! Lol to your OB living in the same building.. I would also be avoiding her if I planned to switch.
@mileswithmyles go for the meds girl, you need some relief.
@bjkay22 keep us updated on your appt next week!
@labgrand2012 I'm glad the meds are helping. My workouts have also been totally derailed, I've been lucky to get out and walk this week. Hopefully we can both be better next week.

  • @labgrand2012 I freelance now, but if I still worked for a PR agency, I don't think I would have told them until 14-15 weeks, even though my last PR agency was super family friendly. I would've had the same worries as you. I know a lot of people tell HR earlier, though, in a confidential capacity. Sort of just like a, "in case my boss comes complaining/thinking I'm interviewing, please tell them you're confident that's not the case" way.

@sandbar517 @mileswithmyles @bjkay22 @labgrand2012 sorry about the nausea! I get motion sick so so so easily, and my hangovers are always stomach hangovers not headache hangovers, so I am well acquainted with nausea, and it is the absolute worse. Completely agree I prefer pain to nausea. ...Now would I prefer being really, really itchy all over to nausea? Uncertain.
  • @hollieileen if you don't live in the same building as your OB, I would definitely go with your current plan. I still might. Depends if I want to worry about leaving my apt and sharing an elevator with her in the future. lol
  • @rachelg777 I did switch, from an OB to a midwives group.  I was thinking about calling to see what the protocol is, but I'm hoping that I'll have better luck if I just beg the midwife in person at my appointment.  They don't know anything about my history yet since I'm a new patient, so I'm thinking that if I tell her that neither of my previous pregnancies have been "normal", that she'll be more willing to do one to set my mind at ease.
+1 for preferring pain to nausea.  Although, that's easier to say when I'm feeling nauseated and not having any pain.....Overall, I feel pain is easier to tolerate/live with-except maybe a really bad headache when having your eyes open is torture.  But all day, every day nausea is the worst, IMO.  People gotta eat, yo!  I'd have to think about the itchy vs nausea question, that's an interesting one.  I had PUPPS with my twin pregnancy, and it was pretty terrible.

  • @sandbar517 lol lol I'd be so far behind!! Also, every woman in both DH and my families goes super late (I was born 14 days late), so IDK, I don't think my odds of going early are excellent (I mean.... assuming I make it past the first trimester hurdle, lol ::knocks on wood::). But I'll def keep coming to say hi in your TTGP check-ins if y'all don't mind! ;)

  • @doxiemoxie212 OMG congrats! I haven't checked TTGP in awhile so I missed your BFP. You should totally play here.

AFM I'm 7+2 and so nauseous. No vomiting but constant feeling like sea sick or hung over. DR appt on 10/2. Nothing else exciting in my life. I told almost everyone at work and if I hear "how are you feeling" one more time...
  • @charlestonchew omg I hate the how are you feeling.  My boss asks me every day and then when I say “ehh” or whatever he always says “well I haven’t had any morning sickness!” And thinks it’s hilarious. And I want to murder him. That could be the hormones though...
  • @bjkay22 Ugh.  I generally hate when people ask, "How are you?" because it's just banal chatter and they don't normally really care how you're doing.  And double when you're pregnant.  They just don't know what else to say. Unless it's a close friend that I know actually does care how I'm doing, I just smile and say, "Great, thanks!" and keep walking.

  • @sandbar517 I've had the same thought about my nausea. This will be it for me for a lot of reasons, but that's one of them.
@doxiemoxie212  I told my bff immediately, too.
    @bjkay22  big hugs. That's scary!
@labgrand2012  Unisom and B6 takes the edge off for me. I'm also hoping to get back to working out.
@hollieileen  omg yes to the smells. I am so sensitive to them
@rachelg777 glad the Doppler helps reassure you
@charlestonchew  I know!  I know people are just trying to be nice, butt honest answer is probably not what they want to hear.

  • Welcome, @catlady1215!  Stick around with us, we're fun!   :)
