Code names for baby/pregnancy

Morning! Since many of us are still rather early on and not yet sharing the good news, or (as in my case) have children at home you aren't ready to tell about the new baby, I thought it might be fun to share what we are currently calling the little beans, or code names for pregnancy. The Husband and I have trouble talking about things around our 7 year old who picks up on everything so I admit I am searching for ideas!

Best we had yet is The Husband randomly looked over at me and said "can't wait to meet Herbert"! With a big grin.

but of course our son was all "what's he talking about, mom?". Lol.

Basically, I can't mention anything in front of my 6 year old. She would figure it out in a heartbeat, nickname or not. We're waiting until 12 weeks to tell them and it's going to be HARD.

ETA: DD1 was jelly bean (her twin was gummy bear) and DD2 was blip.

My six year old apparently knows how to read a pregnancy test. She saw it on the bathroom counter and figured it out right away. So there's no keeping it from them. Which sucks because my four year old already spilled the beans to the sitter. My daughter has been keeping the secret like a champ. My son not so much. Lol. They are both really excited though.

We don't have one yet. When I was pregnant with DS, we didn't tell anyone the name and my little nephews called him baby Irving the whole time I was pregnant. I think it was MIL's way of trying to get us to name the baby after her dad.

My husband and I are called Jellie by our friends (our names are Justin and Ellie), so we have called all our babies Jellie Bean.

@firefliesandfjords That is adorable!! We haven't come up with anything this time, but when I was pregnant with the girls, we were trying to keep it a secret, so MH kept calling them "Fight Club" because we couldn't talk about it.

DH just declared this baby Peanut about two weeks ago and then the nurse doing our sono on Tuesday called it Peanut too, so I guess that's stuck now. It's all good. I don't have to hide anything from DS because he can only sort of say the word baby, doesn't have any concept of baby at all except for him. Joys of having them close together

DS got named Gonzo by his aunts, so we will stick with Gonzo for this bean as well. Only to each other so far, as the family would all get it!

DD is 2 so she doesn't "get" it. We have told our parents and my closest friends so we aren't really hiding it. I don't ascribe to the waiting to tell notion. Some know at 5w and some at 12 ish when we do a public social media post.

But I digress. We call them Tiny Lastname (our last name starts with a T).

DD is 2.5. We have told her that she's going to be a sister, that there is a baby in mommy's tummy, etc, but she doesn't really get it. So far I've been calling this one jelly Bean. DD was nugget.

Not much of a code name as it is a nickname, but we have been calling this one, Gremlin. DS is 2.5 so he doesn't really get it.

DS1 knows and DS2 is too young to understand but we call the baby Dino Nugget 3.0 or just 3.0. DS1 was Dino Nugget and it's just kind of stuck with each pregnancy.

husband sometimes calls baby "MJ" because he is determined that it will be a girl named Mia Jae. I guess he's just manifesting? lol. Considering we are team green, I think it would be funny to refer to baby as a girl the entire pregnancy, only to find out its a boy.

Haven't thought of a true code name though, probably pick a name that we won't be using (Hank, Bob, etc)

DS was Bubba Gump because DH thought that he looked like a little shrimp during the first sono. This one we call Squishy because of DS's undying love of Finding Nemo.

We haven't given this one a fun name yet. I'm waiting until the u/s. Luckily our twins don't know what we're talking about since they're shy of 22 months still and barely listen to us anyways.
When we found out we were pregnant with them, we only thought it was one since who assumes it's more than that? We called our bean "Olaf" since it was from a frozen transfer. Then when we saw 2 heartbeats at the u/s, I named the 2nd one "Sven". And that's what we called them most of the time until they were born because I couldn't decide on the girl name until I saw her.
So we have a couple different sized Olaf and Sven stuffed animals floating around our house. 2 are beanie baby sized that DH got me when I was down in the dumps about a SCH.

We call the baby Thrice since it will be baby number 3. My son is 4.5 and in preschool, so I'm not interested in having the whole school know just yet. We're waiting til after our first appointment which is Monday. We also only use male pronouns when referring to the baby. My husband definitely believes in manifesting what he wants....

We're not hiding anything. We are calling it salmon baby right now since we got pregnant in Alaska. We needed something, otherwise ds1 was calling this baby by his brother's name which was getting confusing

DD (2 years) was and sometimes still is Monkey. New little one is Poppy. I'm still 4 weeks and that's the poppy seed stage plus DD is obsessed with Trolls & Princess Poppy right now, so it's a great nickname. https://www.dreamworks.com/trolls/assets/downloads/hugtime412.gif

I usually nickname them after the drink that was flowing at conception time. Ds1 was conceived on our honeymoon in Hawaii. We called him maitai. Ds2 was conceived 2 years later celebrating our anniversary. His nn was limon bc I was drinking Bacardi limon. I guess this is our classy baby. Nugget shall be nn Malbec.

We have been referring to the baby as 'the project' and we have to be super careful what we say. I have an 11 yo and 5 yo that are always listening and we are not quite ready to tell them yet

"The Potato" or just "Potato" for short. We have to be very careful around the girls (11 and 9). They're pretty shrewd (especially my oldest) and would totally pick up on it. I don't want to tell them until after we've heard a heart beat, which means we try not to say one word about The Potato around them at all!

We called my first daughter Plum. That was the size she was when we told everyone we were pregnant. We ended up naming our company Plum after her. This baby, no name. My kids are too smart for us (and old- 6 and 8) to have a code name.

Dh has named this one pumpkin seed, which is adorable and easy to talk about around our boys because it's nothing that will drs aww their attention. Once in talking about things like kicking or measurements to other people though, it will be it. Not in the scary clown way lol or a dismissive way... My family is from the south, so thing more "bless its heart!" I referred to ds the same way since we didn't find it the sex to know he or she and thus will likely be the same way.

We called our first Spongebobesheia because there was a YouTube video of these 2 guys giving name suggestions.
We called our second Giuseppe because years before my friend said something about our one day children Matilda and Giuseppe.
So far, we've been calling this one "this one" or "3". I think once we start telling people it'll change. I'm sure the girls will have some nicknames ready.

I forgot to mention, DH says is when we're casually talking (ex: I can't wait until it starts kicking) so the one day he slipped and said she, but didn't want to jinx it (of course it wouldn't but you know how it goes when you're hoping for a specific sex) so he really quick corrected himself and said it so it came out she-it... I told him it sounded like a redneck way of saying sh*t lol so now when it's just us he jokingly says she-it sometimes. crazy men lol
