  • @gh515 - HAHA! I honestly wouldn't be able to keep it a secret! I feel like I'm going to explode with so much excitement! We are keeping the name a secret, though. That I've been able to do... with only a few almost slip ups, lol!
  • @cford08 Would your neighbors really confront you about fall decor? Nosy neighbors make me stabby.
  • @kalawa 9 years and 3 kids? You deserve like 5 rings at this point!        TBH I don't even care about the ceremony or gifts or traditional wedding stuff. I want it all low key. And, I already feel comfortable that the commitment is here to stay with or without marriage. What we have is working and it's fine. But. I'm ready for the rings and the husband wife title to go with the life we basically already live.

Yeah girl, I've had some sly comments before about me making them look bad by having my decor out before everyone else. I wish somebody would say something now with all my hormones going crazy.

  • @ivfgotthistwice - they said within a week! Hopefully sooner rather than later! :D
  • @HappyMonkey817 - the train of thought wasn't that complicated and yet it totally escaped me. Thank you for helping me put it together - that's totally why I associate it with fall!
  • @LaurenAnn0405 I have a Swedish Fish craving too! But I want the small ones, not the big ones. I just can't find them!
  • @kalawa oh definitely the small ones!  And not the multicolored ones either, just the good old original, small, red fish!
  • @triplejplus1 We've lost the man of our house to the fall harvest as well. Can't wait till all of it settles down. At least long hours = bigger paychecks.  But it sure is exhausting!  My SO has been harvesting during the daytime hours and spraying pesticides at night about 3 times a week. He's so tired  :'(
  • Ugh, @jeanbean15 summer is the worst with jobs like that. Our first 5 years of marriage DH harvested in the day and baled hay all night. He pulled several 24 hr days in the summer and summer used to be my favorite time of year. I got tired of never getting to do all the things I wanted like camping, vacations, fishing and just picnics outside. Finally last year he sold out of his baling business and started working for another farmer and its sooo much better. And way less stressful! So even though I complain about fall harvest now, its a million times better than it used to be! I hope you get your SO back soon! Do they do corn beans and milo? or cotton?
  • @triplejplus1 TBH it's not corn beans or milo hay or any of that.  :| We're in WA state so, legal marijuana. (And before you think it, no, I do not smoke weed! I don't enjoy it at all and have no interest in using it. But I think it has great medicinal purposes and it's important that it's all legal now and tested for mold, bugs, dust, etc. that could really get patients sick if they were getting it from unregulated sources. I know this was a big discussion on this board a few weeks ago but I didn't chime in.) Anyway he runs 2 farms just outside of town and takes on a good chunk of the responsibility. Harvest goes from now until November. If we're lucky the end of October. Its exhausting.
  • @jeanbean15 Hey, no judgement here! I didn't get into all that discussion either. But dang, that is a long harvest! :( I hope the next few months aren't too rough on you!
  • @triplejplus1 Thanks!! Yes it lasts forever. Different strains take longer to mature I guess. He explained it to me but I always accidentally stop paying attention cause it's all so technical lol. We will make it through! I hope the same for you!
  • @jeanbean15 LOL at “but I always accidentally stop listening” —I do this so much!
  • @jeanbean15 @mdfarmchick, at least you guys pretend to "accidentally" stop listening. When my SO goes on a rant about work, I literally tell him I'm not listening.
  • @crossfitbabybump Just a heads up that I had a friend who did that - her and her H knew the sex of the baby but decided to keep it a secret from everyone else.  Initially I believe she planned to keep it a secret until the baby was born.  Unfortunately for her she and her H kept accidentally letting it slip - saying "he" or "him" while talking about the baby.  I always pretended to not notice because I felt bad and didn't want her to be upset.  Plus it was a bummer for me being her good friend and finding out on accident rather than on purpose.  Eventually she realized the cat was crawling out of the bag so she decided to do a "reveal" at her shower where the cupcakes had frosting on the inside that was blue.  It was the most awkward, anti-climatic thing I've ever seen.  People either already knew and were faking surprise, or just weren't THAT excited.  The thing is that apart from your immediate family and maybe your best friend, no one really cares very deeply if you are having a boy or girl so when the parents already know and try to surprise other people it's not usually as thrilling.  People DO really like watching the parents of the baby find out though - that's really fun!

Anyways that's just my cautionary tale on the subject.
  • 1. Only one more week until Fall Break.  GAHHHHH Two weeks off!!
    2. I'm really craving maple sugar candy.
    3. I'm so excited to be in the 2nd tri next week!
    4. I really hate living in the desert this time of year. I want a nice cool fall breeze and apple picking and hot cocoa...
    5. My midwife said my nerve damage from my PIO shots will last another 6 months at least. Sigh.
    6. H is interviewing with a few jobs next week and I'm so hopeful he will get at least one of them. It would be a huge step up pay wise and lord that would be helpful with a baby on the way.
    7. I think I might be getting slightly more energy - I was able to go to an extra yoga class yesterday, which I haven't done since before getting pregnant.
    8. As a teacher I still have to take yearbook photos each year and I look extremely young.  I just always still look awkward and I hate that this continues to haunt me into my adult years lol.
    9. I am slacking so hard on grading.  I just don't wanna.
    10.  I am a psycho and have already purchased my outfit for my shower.  Odds are that I will change my mind and never wear this outfit, but I just like feeling prepared.

  • @antoto - thank you! We decided we are going to let everyone know! I am horrible with secrets and surprises so I know I would let it slip, haha! :)
  • @antoto I have the same issue with looking young. I also hate it and everyone tells me that I am lucky and when I'm older I will be glad for that. Well, for now I don't really like being asked if I play sports in high school or look like a pregnant teen when really I am going to be 30 in a few short months.  :s  DH thinks its funny when people ask me things like that.

@antoto @triplejplus1 - I used to have the "problem" of looking really young. I got carded for booze and even lottery tickets (you had to be 18 here at the time) until I was about 32. Not so much now, lol. My daughter turned me gray.

ETA: I was once mistaken for an eighth grader when I worked at a middle school. I was 23.
  • @antoto @triplejplus1 @HappyMonkey817 I have this problem. You have to be 19 here to by alcohol here, and I got ID'd last time. She looked and said..."omg you're 31...I'm sorry!" I wasn't offended...tell me how radiant, and youthful I look (I pretend this is why I get carded)...I know what I look like without make up though.
