I had my first appointment today! I went in expecting to give blood, but this practice waits until the dating ultrasound at around 10 weeks. So, all I had to do was pee in a cup and talk to the Dr.!
I wanted to run a few things by you ladies to see what your experiences were, as well.
I was borderline pre-eclampsia with DD in 2014 and was induced 1 day early. I was bed-ridden (not by my choosing), the epidural made me super sick to my stomach and also lowered my blood pressure which lowered DD's heart rate so low we almost had an emergency c-section, and I had an episiotomy.
My new Dr. said that not long after I had DD, it started to become common practice to give small doses of Aspirin to women at high risk of developing P/E and in the majority of cases, it did prevent it. Has anyone had this before and did it work for you?
He also said that if I do have to be induced, he allows me to eat and walk around. With DD, I had to beg for ice chips and use a bed pan. This excites me so much that I'm not near as scared of getting induced as I was before! If you were induced, were you allowed to eat? If so, do you think it helped your energy levels or do you wish you hadn't?
I also asked him if I'd be higher risk to need an episiotomy again, and he said he hasn't done one in 6 or 7 years. If I get by without the gosh-awful recovery this time, I might actually be able to sit properly and poop within 5 days!!! LOL!!

Oh, I like your new doctor. I don't have experience with P/E so I can't really offer anything on that. As far as the inductions I went into labor on my own so I can't say on that either. Essentially, I'm just here to say I think you picked a good doc.
@zizzabell523 i went into labor on my own, but I did have to get pitocin to help speed things along. I was having contractions from Friday night to Sunday night, sunday, around 11pm is when they were getting about 3 min apart so we headed to the hospital. I was only dilated to a 3, so not much was happening. I got checked into a room, and then around 7am they started the pitocin and broke my water. I hadn't had anything to eat since sunday night around 8pm... they let me have a popsicle that afternoon and some ice chips, I finally had DS at 4:43pm. I honestly don't remember being too upset about the lack of food though. The contractions were enough to keep me distracted from any hunger pangs I may have had.
I had my first appointment today. Had an ultrasound and heard the heartbeat. Baby is measuring right on track for being 7w5d. New doctor seems amazing! I go back in 2 weeks to meet with the midwife about past pregnancies and genetic testing.
@zizzabell523 I have heard of using baby aspirin to help prevent p/e. For DS2 I ended up having my RCS about a week early due to p/e so I plan to talk to my dr about it at my first appointment in 2 weeks.
@zizzabell523 you may not be higher risk for the new doctor cutting an episiotomy but you are higher risk for tearing down the same line. Not to scare you, but since it's straight (as apposed to jagged like a spontaneous tear) your body cant repair itself as sturdily. This may not happen but just wanted to mention to keep expectations real!
First appointment went well enough. Got to see Peanut but no take home pictures as expected. Heartbeat was visible but as it was a small portable sono, don't know the exact number or size of the guy (or gal, but I think guy). Nurse said I would have been 8+1 yesterday by my LMP and I told her I thought I would be 7+3 from my ovulation date. When she looked at the scan she told me that while I may know my ovulation date, she's was still inclined to go with 8 weeks and s/he's probably just growing ahead. She said she would have been thrilled with what she saw for 8+1 if I hadn't told her any different. Oh well, we shall see at the official dating ultrasound in... 5 1/2+ weeks! What? That's ridiculously far away
Edit because math is hard. But it shouldn't be! I have a freaking BS in Mathematics. Get it together, woman

@zizzabell523 I was induced with my daughter because of pre pre e. My OB advised me to take baby aspirin, one a day, as soon as we started trying for #2. I've been taking it for a couple months now, but I don't know yet obviously if it's going to make a difference.
I was allowed to eat and move around during my induction (mirasol? + foley bulb, and then pitocin) and it was 24 hours from start to finish with only one hour of pushing, and no episitomy. Eating and doing laps around the hallway definitely helped keep my energy up!
I had my first OB appt Monday. It was my third u/s as I had two with the RE. We saw the baby measuring at 7w6d and the heartbeat was 174 bpm. And I finally got a due date of May 1! Which is only 8 days before DS's bday. I really hope this one is born in April so they are at least in different months :-p
@zizzabell523 I had pre-e with my first. 27 week delivery. With my second my doc started me on baby aspirin right away, and baby was able to stay in until Around 37 weeks give or take. I don't know if it was the only factor that helped me go almost full term, but it definitely appeared to make a big difference. I'm on it again this pregnancy. FX for you!
I had a checkup yesterday at 7+3. Baby is measuring 9.5mm ish and 150 bpm. I think it's measuring 7 weeks per the ultrasound and I'm basing my EDD on ovulation. Maybe I'm off a little bit, who knows. But I'm glad to hear that heartbeat!
My TTC journey:
Me and DH: 30-35 Unexplained infertility TTC #1 since 2015 11/2015 - BFP! 12/2015 - MC IVF #1 July 2017 freeze all (20 eggs, 15 mature, 10 fert, 6 blasts, 4 PGS normal) FET #1 TBD Surprise BFP 9/2017 while waiting for FET... hoping for the best!
We had a tour/consultation today with one of the two birth centers we are considering. Got an hour through the tour/interview, then as we were leaving the midwife called us back in. She took a closer look at the health history I gave her and because I have an "obese" BMI they won't take us on as patients. She apologized for not catching it earlier and mentioned that I don't "look" obese. I'm definitely fat but otherwise healthy (I'm active and play a competitive sport).
Not a huge deal, but because of pregnancy hormones I've been crying off and on since then. I'm really hoping that the other birth center we're meeting with will take us on. I really don't want to give birth in a hospital (no judgement for folks who do, just not our preference).
First appointment in a few hours and my mom just canceled on watching DD so I'm going alone. And panicking. I thought I'd be fine without my husband but I'm so nervous.
