Naptime Routines

Anyone have any words of wisdom?  I've been trying to follow the Eat/Play/Sleep intervals but this LO fights naps so hard that by the time I get him down it's almost time to eat again!  I'm worried about when he starts daycare in a month, they're not going to have the individual time to spend with him to get him down like I do.

Re: Naptime Routines

  • No advice but I know with my nephew he's a terrible sleeper/napper at home but goes down no problem at daycare.

  • No advice here either. The struggle is real!
  • Ugh! I'm having the same issue!
  • My baby sleeps fine but if you miss that time frame for his nap... he goes on a sleep strike!!
  • No advice, we're in the same boat. I am trying to tell myself that part of the daycare fee is them "teaching" LO things. One of her first lessons will just have to be how to take a nap.
  • No advice here either : / I can't get mine to nap unless she's being held.
  • Baby should be awake for no more than an hour.  At 45 minutes I start getting him ready for nap; in his PnP, paci and patting.  He'll fall asleep in 10-15 minutes.  If I miss the cues or window it takes longer and he doesn't sleep as long.
We have been working on it for a while but its working for us.

  • OMG. I just got my LO down for a nap...in his crib! Only took 10 weeks!
  • Reflux babies : I start feeding him a good hour before I want him to nap (or the nap time he has gotten us used to! And make sure his sleep starts off as an incline. I swaddle him while he's asleep or atleast using the paci. It really helps!
  • I'd like to get this thread going again!

What have you ladies done for nap training?

My 7.5 month old is fighting naps so bad!! I work during the day so the only time I have him for naps is on the weekend and the only way I get a decent nap out of him as if he nurses and falls asleep on me. He's with my mom during the week and same with her she can maybe get a decent nap if she gives him his bottle while laying on her but he will not lay down in a crib or fall asleep on his own for naps.

He sleeps great at night if he's napped. He still wakes up one or two times to nurse but besides that he sleeps from 7pm to 6am.

My mom barley gets an hour total in naps for the day but I know he's tired. The less he sleeps during the day, the more he wakes at night or fights falling asleep. It's so hard to nap train when I'm not there to do it myself.
  • @kmelton811 I'm in the same boat. My LO is 6.5mo and a terrible napper. I want to nap train but you have to be so consistent and I'm not home to do it.
