Placenta Previa

Happy Wednesday Ladies!

Last week at my anatomy scan, I was diagnosed with complete posterior placenta previa. Was told go go on pelvic rest, not lift anything over 8-10 pounds (not easy with an active 18 month old!), and generally take it easy. I will have another ultrasound to check progress at 27 weeks (early September.) My practice had a few of the doctors on staff check my scans and all agreed that my PP is the least likely to move (but I've got fingers and toes crossed that it will!) Has anyone here experienced any type of placenta previa before or is currently dealing with it? I'm trying to remain optimistic but feel somewhat like a ticking time bomb just awaiting the first big bleed  :/

Thanks all!!!

Re: Placenta Previa

  • I also have placenta previa, but mine is marginal with twins.  I go back on Friday for another scan.  I have not been given restrictions yet, but I'm assuming if there has been no change since my 17 week scan, I'll be given restrictions.  So far I have not had any bleeding and the doctor seemed hopeful that mine might resolve on it's own.  I'm hoping you have no bleeding and have a smooth remainder of you pregnancy!  I'll update after my appointment on Friday!

  • I had bleeding last week at 16 weeks and got the diagnosis as placenta previa. Since it is partial the doctor said it will most likely resolve itself. However I have been put on pelvic test and told not to carry anything heavy. They will the status at my anatomy scan in 2 weeks.
  • I had bleeding from 9-12 weeks, but wasn't told that it was due to the PP until this past appointment. I also have a small SCH as well, so that may have also added to my bleeding issues. It's nice to know I'm not alone in this! Fingers crossed to you both that your PP clears and you have uneventful pregnancies! :)

  • I too have a marginal placenta previa and an SCH both have caused bleeding and it was super scary but they say the often travel farther up and away from the cervix as the uterus expands and I'm keeping my fingers crossed mine will, I'll keep them crossed for you ladies too! I have been on pelvic rest for 20 weeks and it sucks DH is getting pretty squirrely and driving me nuts.
  • I have complete placenta previa still present at 27 weeks.  I go back at 31 weeks to see if it has moved, otherwise will have a scheduled c-section for 37 weeks.  I am quite nervous, just hate the idea of surgery!!! I had 30 hour labor with my 9 year old daughter, it can't be as painful as that right ?! LOL
