Re: Monday Ticker Change 9.11

  • 1.  19 weeks, a mango!

    2.  Feeling mostly good, minus back/hip pain.  And finally felt the flutters!

    3.  Our A/S is on Wednesday, and we are finding out the gender!

    4.  I'm started doing research on epidural vs. natural birth and I have so many questions I'm not sure where to start.

    5.  I love all things fall!! Apple cider, pumpkin things, cool weather, hot chocolate, football, etc.  Maybe the only thing I don't really like it Halloween and all the scary movies that come out around that time.

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?   19 weeks! A mango

    2) How are you feeling? Pretty good  sleeping a bit better now which is nice change

3 Any appointments this week/last?    Currently in the waiting room for my anatomy scan. Excited/nervous to find out sex! Makes it more real to not call it an 'it'

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions? Nurse at blood clinic asked me how far along I was and I told her 19 weeks and she said 'oh really? But you're showing so much!' Grrrrr

    5) GTKY: Favorite thing about the fall season you are looking forward to? It not being a bazillion degrees out! I've been so cooped up lately because it's been too hot out. Looking forward to walks outside and just sleeping better at night

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • 1. 18 weeks size of an artichoke.

    2. Had some lovely hip pains this last week.

    3. Prenatal on Wednesday. A/S not for a couple more weeks.

    4. I've been going kind of nuts looking at stuff trying to figure out what type of stuff to put on my registry.

    5. Pumkin spice muffins and curling up with DH watching movies.
  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
    17 weeks - pomegranate!

    2) How are you feeling? Tired and sore with nausea.  This pregnancy is kicking my butt lol

3 Any appointments this week/last?    Nothing until the end of the month - anatomy scan

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?  I am having a hard time finding maternity clothes that fit.  I'm short and petite.  Everything I try on is too long or too baggy.  I've ordered online and had to take back to the store.  Next step is drive an hour to a maternity outlet store.  Macy's has a Motherhood section with 4 racks.  Everyone is phasing their stuff to online and I hate it.

    5) GTKY: Favorite thing about the fall season you are looking forward to?

    Football season!

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?   16 weeks - avacado!!

    2) How are you feeling? Pretty good for the most part...just very tired, and my legs are really getting sore  might need to dig out the compression stockings

3 Any appointments this week/last?  Yes! Midwife on Thursday.

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions? Just excited to start to 'feel pregnate'  with no bump, no movement, and no sickness it really isn't real

    5) GTKY: Favorite thing about the fall season you are looking forward to? excited for the cooler weather and best of all we are MOVING!! We close in October so that counts as a fall event right?! Lol

  • @hms1219 I am quite small aswell. The only maternity pants that fit me are the jcrew pants. If you can get them on sale or second hand they are very worth it. I got mine online for a good price with baby #1. Other then that I mostly wear leggings.  If you are like me you might be able to get away with mostly wearing stretchy or flowy tops that are not maternity.

  • @pandappanderson that's so exciting!! What did you guys find out?! Boy or girl i'm thrilled for you!

@katie12-27 I'm with you on the registry. It's kinda overwhelming and i've been stealing ideas from my friends lol

Yes on the leggings!  I'm living in leggings at home and on days off.  It's the work pants that are getting me.  All the styles are for straight leg ankle pants and I need boot cut type long pants.  Anything that works style wise doesn't work size wise and the online size charts are not translating well to my size.

I probably have a few more weeks where I can get away with unbuttoned pants and a belly band, but not much.
  • @corcola all my sisters did natural births  and I did epidurals... I'm the odd one in our family,  but definitely was the right decision for my first labor and it went well, so I've repeated every time.

    1) How far along are you? How big is baby?  17 weeks

    2) How are you feeling? Pretty good. Energy is up some, nausea is down, and food actually sounds good.

3 Any appointments this week/last?  Next week on the 19th. Just regular appt, but should also get the date scheduled for my MFM appt.

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions? Hurricane recover where I live is going pretty quickly! I'miss impressed and relieved. Could have been awful here and we really got spared.

    5) GTKY: Favorite thing about the fall season you are looking forward to? My sister is throwing me a shower on my birthday, plus all the holidays, and my 3rd kids Bday :)

  • @pandappanderson ahhh that's so exciting!! congratulations!!

@3plus1equals4 that's great that epidural worked for you! it's what i always thought i'd go with but then i started reading about side effects, but i don't know how common they are. did you have any?
  • @corcola my first labor stalled around 4 cm (after epidural) and they were talking c-section since I'd already been in labor for 45 hours. I declined as baby wasn't stressed and water hadn't broken. An hour later water broke and labor kicked in... baby born 2 hours later.  Second and third went picture perfect for epidurals and labor progressions.

I mention the first experience because epidurals can correlate with slowed or stalled labor. Stalling doesn't mean you have to get a c-section or pitocin if baby and your health are okay. If it's not a choice, your doctor will tell you have to do it, but many times it is an option they are willing to discuss. My best friend had her labor stall similarly and called me. I said the same to her and after discussing with doctor, she was allowed to continue vaginally as well.

*not putting down c-sections. Also, the docs are experts and I do believe they should be the final decision maker of if a procedure is necessary. Safety always trumps a birth preference.
  • @3plus1equals4 thanks for sharing your experiences! I don't know many ppl i'd be comfortable asking about how they gave birth, so your insight is very helpful. And i'm super glad to know that even if labor stalls it doesn't mean i have to get a c section unless the doctors calls for it.
  • @hms1219 ohh I see! Such a bummer. I hope you can find something soon...maybe the petite section of the department store? I know they have slacks with elastic waist bands, bet you could find good sales too.  I am so spoiled wearing scrubs to work I never had to buy maternity pants for work lol!

@corcola I thought I would have a natural birth for a long time. But when it came down to it, and I was actually pregnant i was just kinda like - meh, we will see what happens. Getting the epidural was the right choice for me 100%. Even though I took labour really well and maybe could of gone with out I was so happy to have that relief and be able to rest before the baby came. The midwives even said it seemed to really speed things up once I got it. every one is different. Just remember, no matter which route you take the end result is going to be the baby arriving! Don't worry about it too much, there is still lots of time to decide :)
  • @madie008 Thanks for the insight! it's great to be reminded that things can change and i've still got a few months to figure it out. I've been trying to research topics a few at a time so i don't over analyze and stress.

@pandappanderson We found out we are having a boy!! Shocked but thrilled!
  • @corcola yes it all feels so close yet so far! its so hard not to over analyze...it's so much to learn and decide!
Oh that is so lovely you found out baby is a boy...how exciting, boys are such fun!!
  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
19 weeks size of a mango!

    2) How are you feeling?

Allergies ar kicking my butt right now but good otherwise

    3 Any appointments this week/last?

I don't have an appointment for another 2 weeks

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?

I just want to find a vehicle that isn't expensive already so I can get a quote on shipping..

    5) GTKY: Favorite thing about the fall season you are looking forward to?

I get to experience fall for the first time in 3 years, thanks Hawaii

  • Thanks  @madie008!! We are excited, but also nervous like probably every first time parent couple ha.

@gymmonkey95 I feel you on the lack of fall! I was in California for the last 4, and not that Virginia is my favorite area, but one of the perks is getting fall back in my life!
  • @corcola haha I'm on the west coast so it's not a complete fall where I see leaves change and everything but I do get a lot cooler weather and pants and sweatshirts among other awesome things!
