Re: Saturday Ticker Change 8/9

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
24 weeks!  Babies are the size of freaking PUFFINS!  My favorite bird ever.

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings?
Feeling good. Got the usual suspects; acid reflux, heartburn, restlessness leg syndrome, general feeling of giantness. Oh, and shortness of breath anytime now I do anything. It's great.

    3) Any appointments this week?
I've got an Appt with my OB Monday morning and an Appt for my every other week detailed ultrasound right after. I'll be at kaiser like all day, basically.

    4) How are your baby preparations going? (Nursery/ Registry/ Etc.)
Registry is done!  That only took about a hundred years. Baby shower invites are apparently going out today, but I don't really believe that.  Nursery isn't being put together until we move into our new house in October, but I've got the rug and cribs, and I know what dresser I'm getting and what paint color I'm doing. It's all up here in my head :)

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
I had a dream last night that I gave birth to twin BASS FISH. I looked at them and was not very excited about breastfeeding fish. Luckily, in my dream I was pregnant with another set of twins already, and I was hoping those would be the regular babies I wanted. Read into that what you will.

    6) GTKY:  Whatcha doing this weekend?
My husband is coming home from a business trip today and then we're driving up to our new house to go over what we need our contractor to do starting Monday.  Gonna meet with our floor guy to talk about stair design and then pick out baseboards. Very exciting stuff. Well
probably go to this giant picnic thing tomorrow that they do every Sunday in our city. It's got a ton of food stands and food trucks and we'll bring some chairs and post up all day. I need poutine desperately. Hopefully the weather won't be sooooo shitty, but I'm not holding my breath.

Hope you guys have a great weekend!

    @breezybee Your dream!! lol!!

    1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
25 weeks today! He's as big as a baseball mitt,  apparently. There is no hiding him anymore either. I had a student say "Are you PREGNANT?!" very loudly in class and was separately approached by 3 parents asking when I'm due/how far along/etc.

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings?
Mostly feeling fine. Started getting a little acid reflux at night though.

    3) Any appointments this week?
    No

    4) How are your baby preparations going? (Nursery/ Registry/ Etc.)
I must be the most unprepared person on here. Baby now has a room but the only thing in it is a shelf. We have been so busy trying to settle in after moving, we don't even have a registry yet. To be honest though I'm not really even worried about it. I feel weird about that. I still haven't even bought a single baby thing. I did get a baby bjorn hand-me-down from my SIL though.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Rant- just finished the first week of kindergarten, which meant endless shoe tying. It was a little annoying but not awful before, but now it's getting to be really hard for me to do it! If your kid can't tie their shoes then why don't they wear velcro, or slip-ons? Ugh

Rave: I love my class!! I definitely have the good class out of the 3 kinders at my school.

    6) GTKY:  Whatcha doing this weekend?
Going to a Husky (University of Washington) game today with my cousin. Then I have some things to get ready for school for Monday. And I have my Seahawks to watch tomorrow!

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
28 weeks! 3rd trimester!!! eggplant sized.

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings?
Mostly feeling pretty good. Definitely still having heartburn, getting winded more easily, and it's been a lot harder to get up out of bed/chairs lately, but I can't complain too much.  My OB thought my gallbladder-area pain was actually related to the way the baby is situated sometimes since the pain is so randomly-timed and seems to go away when I push down on the area (after which I usually feel the baby moving kind of away from that area). No cravings.

    3) Any appointments this week?

Had my GD screening this Tuesday. Followed up with them Friday and found out I passed pretty easily!  That was a huge relief since we still don't have a kitchen and dietary changes right now would be super hard. Also my hemoglobin was great (13.8!) which I had been a little concerned about because I switched vitamins several weeks ago to one without iron after I kept getting constipated.  Since the antibody screen was also negative I can stop in later this week for my RhoGAM shot.

    4) How are your baby preparations going? (Nursery/ Registry/ Etc.)
@moonlady-2  You've got competition for least prepared.  We have a dresser.  And part of a registry.  And we still need to refinish the dresser...  Our "nursery" is currently still storing kitchen stuff, so no hopes of progressing much further any time soon either.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
The kitchen. Always the kitchen.  It's coming along, but since some of our cabinets were of poor quality and need to be replaced we've had our end date pushed back.  Hopefully it will only be another week or two which isn't bad considering the scope of the work, but it's still super disappointing.

    6) GTKY:  Whatcha doing this weekend?
Scottish fest!  And probably putting up siding. Once the siding is up around the new window we can take the tarp down from the side of the house and have natural light again.

@breezybee Your dream is hilarious! I wish I could remember mine.  I usually don't within 2 minutes of waking up.
  •  1) How far along are you? How big is baby?  25 wks, size of a prairie dog.
    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings?  I'm feeling good, just some days he kicks more than others, and it kind of scares me, but I'm sure its fine, since I still feel movement daily.
    3) Any appointments this week? This Wednesday I have my glucose test, and second U/S. First go around he was measuring small, by 1 ounce.
    4) How are your baby preparations going? (Nursery/ Registry/ Etc.)
So my Dad was so generous and bought our crib and dresser, DH painted last weekend. All we really have to do is decorate, which is a battle between dinosaurs, and hunting/fishing themed.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? Work changed it's internet settings, and I can no longer bump at work  :'(
    6) GTKY:  Whatcha doing this weekend? This weekend DD started dance classes again, and DH set up the crib, and we're "helping" DD do her first Kindergarten project. We also kinda of last minute celebrated our 7th anniversary last night, by going out to eat while the ILs watched DD.

  • @breezybee glad the new place and renovations are starting to come along!
@moonlady-2 & @rebeckyjoy you are SO not most unprepared - don't worry!  We haven't even closed on our house yet so baby's room essentially doesn't exist.
    @Kirss happy anniversary!

    1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 26 weeks, kale

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings? Feeling ok.  The usual symptoms of course but nothing unexpected.

    3) Any appointments this week?
No appointments but I have to go to Quest at some point for my glucose tolerance test which I'm not excited about.

    4) How are your baby preparations going? (Nursery/ Registry/ Etc.)
Registry is done, but as I mentioned above, we still need to close on our house (Thursday, finally!) so the nursery probably won't be touched until probably November once we've finished preliminary renovations and furnished the rooms we'll be using right away.  I do have a good idea in my head though.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?  Rave: Closing on our house, yay!  Rant: I waddle pretty noticeably now and H thinks it's funny - he's going to get punched!

    6) GTKY:  Whatcha doing this weekend?  Usual dinner with H on Friday, wedding yesterday, laying around today.

  • @kirss I love the room! Very calm vibe.
@Piccola1988 Good luck with closing!! We closed 2 weeks ago. I know how stressful it is!!!

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
27 weeks! A bunch of bananas.

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings?
okay. I still have nausea troubles, but I am so used to it by now!
    3) Any appointments this week?

yes. We have an ob appt on Tues.
    4) How are your baby preparations going? (Nursery/ Registry/ Etc.)
Registry has been done for a while. The nursery is coming along slowly but surely.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Our costco just added Tamales with Rotisserie Chicken to the take-and-bake dept. SO DELICIOUS!!

    6) GTKY:  Whatcha doing this weekend?
Saturday we visited our friends and their new baby in the morning, the ran errands, then had a couple other friends over for dinner a board games. Today, Sunday, I went to town to work on a charity quilt project with my guild; DH stayed home and did a long list of chores that have been piling up. Good, productive weekend!
  • @Piccola1988 Thank you and woohoo, on a close date!! Hope everything goes smooth on Thursday.
@moonlady-2 hopefully he finds its calming too and STTN right away, hahah one can wish :)
    @Amber_Waves MMM Tamales!

  • @Piccola1988 Yay for almost closing!  You guys will be SO HAPPY to be done with this I'm sure!
@moonlady-2 Im so glad that you guys are in your new house finally!  What a freaking relief.
I'll be the most ecstatic person alive whenever we finallyove into our new house. Between the long list of items on our to do list and my husband's constant complaining, I just hope I make it that far without murdering someone.
OMG @rebeckyjoy hang in there!  It's always better to do a job right than to rush it and hate it forever. But that extra waiting realllllllly sucks. Yay for a passed GD screen!
@Kirss your babies room is adorable. Now you'll have it all set up to stuff it full of cute baby things!
YAAAAAASSSSS @Amber_Waves to new she at the Costco takeout counter. Their rostisserie chickens are so effing delicious. Now I want one and it a only 7:41am.

  • @breezybee LOL at your dream!

@moonlady-2 You are definitely not alone on the unprepared thing. The office we're planning on turning into the nursery is still very full of office stuff. We've finally chosen cribs, buy haven't purchased them yet. We have a general idea of a color scheme, but haven't looked for anything. Also, I can't imagine trying to tie all those kids shoes! I can barely do my own.

@rebeckyjoy Yay for passing the GD test and great hemoglobin levels. I checked my results online and my hemoglobin was a little low (10.??). I haven't been the greatest with taking iron because it makes my reflux worse and it already sucks to high hell and even more now that I'm pregnant.

@Kirss Good luck with your tests and happy anniversary! You're nursery is coming along well.

@Piccola1988 Good luck with your GD test and closing on your house!

@Amber_Waves Sounds like you had a busy weekend.

    1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
26 weeks, the size of kale, which seems weird to me.

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings?
Acid reflux, heartburn, still nauseous, shortness of breath and generally getting uncomfortable. I'm craving anything sweet

    3) Any appointments this week?
I have an OB appointment on Friday. I may need to try something different for my iron supplements.

    4) How are your baby preparations going? (Nursery/ Registry/ Etc.)
LOL, we've kind of finished our registry, but we're still adding little things here and there. The nursery...see above.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Rant: Is it a new thing that people want to bring their kids to a baby shower? I haven't been to many of them lately, but quite a few people have asked if they can bring their kids. Ummm, no, we have limited space, plus if everyone brought their kids, it would add another 20-30 people. For Niwot, we're telling people no and we'll see how many people RSVP. If we have enough space leftover, we'll tell those who asked they can bring their kids.

Rave: Still just happy my babies are healthy.

    6) GTKY: Whatcha doing this weekend?
We got last minute tickets to the U of M football game (Go Blue!) on Saturday. I was totally prepared for all the walking, but totally forgot that we'd have a ton of stairs to get to our seats. On the way down, it was a little rough, but my God, I thought I would pass out on my way up. I was supposed to go to the bathroom and get something to eat, but my SO texted me to remind me that he had my money. There was no way I'd do those stairs again besides to go home so of course he had to bring it up, bless his heart. We went dinner afterwards and I was knocked out shortly after getting home. We did a little baby shopping (took advantage of the 25% off car seats at BRU, plus got the 10% multiples discount). Went to dinner again, but I felt sick and couldn't eat very much.
  • @clovelyone OMG yes, I've been noticing that people want to bring their kids to baby showers!  I don't always mind, but we've got a limited space issue also. Plus, is like to hang out with YOJ and have your attention, not have you chasing your kid around all day lol.  I understand sometimes it cannot be avoided, so that's cool, but when it can?  Leave that kid at home. Have some champs!  Relax!
One of my BFFs asked me if kids were invited because she wanted to bring her unvaccinated niece, who I have no connection to, and her sort of boyfriends bratty bratty 3 year old. No dude. These aren't even your kids. They can't come. No.
  • @breezybee IKR. We're having a coed shower because my SO had a lot of guy friends asking about it so now everyone's spouse is invited too. I have a huge family of cousins who are married and have multiple kids. If everyone brings their kids, that'll leave room for about 15 adults LOL.
  • @clovelyone I have one friend who actually may be giving birth as I type this (she was supposed to be induced last night), who I absolutely want to bring her baby to the shower and she knows this, but everyone else is forbidden from bringing children. Unless it says on the invitation "children welcome" I don't know why anyone would think it's okay!

@Amber_Waves I love productive weekends! I had one too!

@Piccola1988 Hope the closing goes well!

@Kirss I get nervous now too when I don't feel regular kicks. Also, I like that chair in your nursery. Is it a glider? And if so do you know what make/brand?

@rebeckyjoy We also have a dresser that needs to be refinished (just the top, I painted the rest) and part of a registry, so you're not alone!

@moonlady-2 I got excited because I thought you were a UConn fan at first, but no, wrong Huskies! Hope your team won!

@breezybee Your dream is amazing and now I want poutine!

    1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
25+2, prairie dogs! Kind of sad they're not puffins anymore...

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings?
Feeling pretty good, having the regular symptoms like reflux, back/hip pain while sleeping, etc. but nothing too awful. Not really, I just love to eat in general.

    3) Any appointments this week?
Had a quick OB visit on Thursday. This was the first appointment I've had where we didn't do at least a quick ultrasound, so I was a little sad, but I'll get to see them next week at the MFM. We're meeting with our potential pediatrician tomorrow, so hopefully that goes well.

    4) How are your baby preparations going? (Nursery/ Registry/ Etc.)
They're coming along. The nursery is empty except for the closet and all the furniture is painted, just need to do a second coat on one or two items. I'm kind of freaking out about where we're going to put all the stuff that's already been donated to us. It's like a second hand baby store exploded in our living room and porch!

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Rave: Tonight we're going on the maternity tour of the hospital where I'll be delivering! This is really happening!
Rant: Pregnancy brain super screwed me over last week. At work we can work extra hours to get float days during certain holiday weeks and Labor Day is one of them. We need to work at least 36 hours to get the float day. I did the math out, but clearly messed up because I came in this week and discovered I worked 35.9 hours, rounding's not allowed. I'll get OT for the extra hours I worked, but no float day. I definitely cried when I found out what I'd done.

    6) GTKY:  Whatcha doing this weekend?
Friday night I scored a free surf and turf dinner and ticket to see Oklahoma at the Goodspeed Opera House (really good regional theater company), since my friend who paid for it didn't want to go anymore. Saturday, I went out for lunch with a friend and for a walk on the boardwalk, then came home and took a long nap because that walk wiped me out! And yesterday I took my dog to the beach, came home and gave the dog a bath, and painted the rest of our nursery furniture (though some will need a second coat).
  • @leilagphillips It's  not a glider, just a rocker that reclines w/ foot rest. It's from DD so 5 years old, I don't remember the make, but we did get it at Buy Buy Baby.
    Babysizer Geeky Pregnancy Tracker
  • @Kirss Okay, thanks for the info! Looks comfy!
  • Hi I'm alive baby is good. Super busy working every weekend but I'm hanging in! I'm 25 weeks this Saturday! I'm glad the baby survived some pretty bad bronchitis and is getting hyper with the albuterol. I have my fetal echo next week
  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
24 weeks, it says cantaloupe, but that seems too big.
    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings?
I have more energy this week, which is great, because the kitchen was PILED with dishes. Craving sweets but desperate to eat healthy, so I'm doing spinach/blueberry/yogurt/other fruits smoothies again in the morning.
    3) Any appointments this week?

No, but at my next visit I have to do the Gestational Diabetes test, so I have to stare at the bottle in the fridge every day until then. It actually is good motivation to stay on track with cutting down on sugar.
    4) How are your baby preparations going? (Nursery/ Registry/ Etc.)
The registry got a bit of an overhaul last night because my husband decided to chime in. I wasn't very mature about it (too late, mister!) but we got er done. People are starting to buy things off the registry, which is sort of exciting. I should probably stop stalking it every day so I can be a little surprised! The Nursery has stalled out a little bit, but I ordered the rocking chair cushion tonight, so that's a thing off the list. Next up - get some stuff hung on the walls, like some artwork or floating shelving for odds and ends. I have some closet storage cube shelves on my registry, so hopefully I get those or else I'll buy them immediately after the shower. I should probably also buy myself a dresser for my bedroom while I'm at it. The old one is now in the guest room.
    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Rave - Husband watched a birthing DVD with me tonight, under duress at first, but once I had him sitting down he did seem to watch it...and participated in helping with one of the relaxation techniques. Go team!
    6) GTKY:  Whatcha doing this weekend?
Went to a wedding last weekend, but left before 9 pm because I was in some pain in lower belly. This happens pretty much daily, but especially on busy days. It's b/c of my fibroid. This coming weekend we are touring the maternity ward at the hospital where we plan to go for delivery. Time is seriously flying by!
  • I am so shamefully late for this check in! Just wanted to pop in and say hi. I took this week off work to use up my vacation days for the fiscal year and I've been working on random errands and obsessing over baby prep lol. Can't believe we are all so close to third tri (if not already there)!!
