I cannot believe it's September already and we are all about to or already have one year olds. I remember lounging around like a beached whale this time last year and wondering what my kid was going to be like. Turns out he's pretty great! I know the same is true for all of you mamas (well, hopefully not the beached whale part).
The first year is tough with sleepless nights, crying babies, days with a shower, crazy hormones, crazy boobs and crazy hair! Congratulations to all of us for making it though. I am 100% not biased but I bet our babies are the cutest of all the other birth month boards
Thank you all for a year of friendship. We're a small group but we've kept this board going. It's great to have a sounding board and a place to ask wacky questions that would gross anyone out other than another mom. It's amazing seeing our babies grow and hearing of new milestones. I can't wait to continue on this journey though motherhood with all of you!
Very well said!! I'm happy this board has remained with just a few of us! It's nice to have women around with same aged kids for a sounding board! Onward we go!
We finally moved last week! The house is incredible and it's crazy to see all of our decisions and selections from the past 10 months of renovating all come together. Im a visual person and it was super tough making decisions when you can't fully envision it. It is such a difference going from city living in a small condo, to a much larger home on a quiet tree lined suburban street. It's very bittersweet. It has been AWESOME having my husband come home at 5:30 vs 7:30-8pm (or sometimes later). Overall I'm adjusting to and embracing this new life, aIthough I do miss the action and energy of city living.
Im so glad our little group has made it a year. I seriously doubted we would since we always had a small group. If anyone is interested in creating a small FB group let me know. I've never posted pics of Lo, but would do so in a private setting. I'm totally cool staying on here, but wanted to put feelers out to see if anyone else feels the same way.
Edited to add: I think the bump also allows you to create a private group.
Moving is so tough! I sometimes wish I could do the city thing too. We are totally burbs over here. I might be ok with our small group doing FB. I was hesitant when it was a huge amt of people on here. Either works for me. ive been doing the whole "one year ago I was..." thing lately. A year ago I had my last midwife appt before babe arrived and I was annoyed it wasn't with my normal one. She ended up being super nice and was the one who delivered baby girl 2 days later! Not gonna lie, pretty sad I don't have an upcoming maternity leave
Congrats on the move! I too hate moving but getting to finally move into your home that you've worked so hard on must be an awesome feeling.
It finally has happened. I started my period. It's been nearly 2 years without one. Talk about cramps and super tampons. Lol. Not looking forward to the next week. I am just happy it happened now and not while I am recovering from surgery in a couple weeks.
I have been so busy lately I was keeping up on the posts but felt like I didn't have time to write anything! @BabyBoyH92016 congrats on the move! I think the actual moving part is just the worst lol but I loved being able to make a place my own.
I would do a Facebook group as well or whatever sounds better to people!
Ditto on the Facebook thing. I'm already on Facebook daily, I know I'm sad. It is my escape from all the wedding planning. We are now under two months until the wedding. Actually we are 7 weeks away.
Oh and Xavier finally took his first steps in Thursday. And started saying more words. He was only saying mama. Now he says ball and dada. His pediatrician will be happy come his 15 months check up.
@jenkar01 the countdown begins!!! So exciting! When we have the FB page up, you need to post wedding pics.
My lo is still only saying Mama and Dada. He started clapping maybe a month ago. He also knows the word kiss and will kiss on command. But that's about it. I'm not too worried yet. He definitely works on his physical (gross motor skills) more then anything.
What vaccines are coming up at one year? LOs bday was yesterday, but his dr appointment isn't until the 22nd. Is it the MMR?
Congrats to all the 1 year olds! So exciting! For those of you that have transitioned to whole milk - can you share your strategy? Are you still giving LO whole milk before bed? My LO likes to be rocked to sleep with a bottle at night.
@Sbrown721 we are still in the transition but I think we may still give him some milk at night but through a sippy cup instead. I know that when potty training starts we will have to change that but that is my plan for now!
@Sbrown721 I have just started tweaking the bedtime bottle routine now that she is completely weaned and doing well with whole milk. She always got her last bottle while being rocked in the dark and then straight to bed. This week I have been giving her the bottle downstairs after her bath , waiting a bit then off to bed. Next I plan to get rid of the bottle and give her a sippy cup of milk until she gets uninterested in milk before bed. Seems to be working so far.
We just added whole milk to his breastmilk and slowly added more and more until it was purely whole milk. He is doing well with it. Even drinks it cold which is a transition from his breastmilk always needing to be warm.

I'd do a Facebook group too if someone feels like starting one.
I need email addresses or names to invite you guys. Please private message me if you'd like to be included.
