  • I feel you, @sandbar517
I fell down the scary Google rabbit hole convincing myself something was wrong yesterday because I didn't throw up. I'll be about 8 weeks when I go in. I wish I could have more reassurance, too. I'm not a very patient person and it was felt like forever since my first HPT.

I'd be surprised if they didn't do an ultrasound with your history of twins. Can you call and ask?  My OB will do one at the 8 week appointment to check measurements and confirm EDD.
  • My bitching for today is my stupid OBs office.  I get so jealous seeing other people talking about their betas and early appointments and ultrasounds.  I don't have an appointment until I'm almost 10 weeks, no betas, and I don't know if they'll do an ultrasound or not.  I'm going to have to bribe them or something, *TW* with one loss *end TW* and one twin pregnancy, I need to know everything is okay in there.  No way I'll be able to wait until the 20 week anatomy scan.
Holy crap thats a long time to wait :( I called my OB office to schedule my initial appointment today and was disappointed they can't see me for a few *days*. I can't imagine waiting weeks and weeks!! WTF.

  • @sandbar517 Hopefully they do an ultrasound at 10 weeks. I have had late appointments like this both times at different practices and they each did a dating ultrasound to give me an official due date.

My my bitch is that I forgot to bring my 2 year olds blanket to daycare and I was running too late to go back home for it. I hope she naps without it.

  • @sandbar517 my ob's office has come a long way since my last pregnancy, but I find they have a much harder time saying no in person. because of my history with low progesterone, I just show up and say "hi, I need a lab order for hcg and progesterone count! " and then I don't leave until they hand it over. lol though it usually isn't much of a fight. Then when I call for the results the next day I ask when I can pick up the next hcg lab order to check for doubling or if they'll be faxing it to the lab for me. Then when I call for THOSE results the next day, I discuss setting up a lab order for the radiology facility for the 8 week transvaginal to check the heartbeat and whatnot.

The practice and changed by leaps and bounds in the last 6 years, but I learned with my son **TW** and loss before and after him **End TW** not to ask for things. I don't storm in and demand because that get you nowhere. I just walk in and very matter-of-factly state that this is what I need them to do while I am standing in front of them. Even if you don't feel confident doing it.... fake 'til you make it! lol

  • @ladystinson I totally agree!  I have no problem doing that LOL  Like I said, I wasn't 100% happy with them during my last pregnancy, and I've been thinking about switching to a midwife group anyway, so if they are unwilling to do one for me, I have no problem switching.

  • @sandbar517 what about the NT scan? That usually happens between 11-14 weeks. I mean that is still a shitty amout of time to wait but way better than 20.
  • Nope, I don't think they do one of those either, unless you're considered high risk.  Which I guess I might be since I'm AMA.  I'm definitely going to have to call them this afternoon and talk to someone.

  • There were definitely a few things I didn't like about the office and my birth last time.  Some of it couldn't be helped since I was having twins, but the more I think about it, the more I want to use a midwife this time.  I'll definitely be doing some research this afternoon.

  • My daughter is having eye surgery on Friday and they just called to tell us it isn't until 1 pm!!!! They are supposed to go in order of age since they cannot eat before surgery! How am I supposed to not feed her all day! This is going to be a very hard and stressful week!
  • @char245 How old is she?  That seems very unusual to make them wait that long for surgery.  Fingers crossed for you!

That's some bullshit!!!! My daughter has had tubes twice and adenoids removed and she was ALWAYS the first appointment. I would bitch a bitch out.

  • @sandbar517 that's extra shitty. I would find a new OB.
Half the reason I went with the office I do is because my BFF uses them and told me how ultrasound happy they are. My first daughter was a twin pregnancy, *TW***** although I lost her twin before my 12w NT scan ****TW*, so nothing about that pregnancy was normal either and I had monthly ultrasounds with my OB and ultrasounds EOW with MFM. I couldn't imagine going through a pregnancy without ultrasounds!!
My twins were fraternal as well, so they make sure to do a dating ultrasound at 8 weeks to be sure there's just one.  So, your OB be cray.

  • @char245 Can you call and see what the requirements are for eating? When my DD had her tubes, they told me nothing for 8 hours beforehand. Maybe it's a similar scenario? It would require waking her up very early to eat something, but it might help you get through the day better?

  • They are supposed to be scheduled according to age. I have a call in to her doctor and am supposed to hear back tomorrow. Since she's only 14 months I would imagine she is one of their younger patients. Hoping to get some better news tomorrow.
  • My complaint today is in line with @ivyvines6 - I have no power, so no AC, tired AF and feeling queasy. I know they have crews working but we have no time frame for when it will be back on  :'(
  • This is the fork Panda Express gave me  :|

  • Two things to bitch about.
    1. I'm dying of exhaustion. I already had my 1 cup of coffee I allow myself. That was 5 hrs ago. I need to make it through 3 more hours of work.

    2. Still havent heard back from my drs office on 1st appt. so I called to check in and they said it was going to be about 5 business days bc they need to assign me a dr. What do you mean assign me a dr?! I already have an OB there. I chose her to be my OB when I moved bc I knew we were ttgp and she matched what I wanted out of my OB. WTAF. Their response was that they will take my preferences into consideration.
  • We bought a new area rug this weekend after my 3 year old spilled her milk and the smell just wouldn't go away. Today I walk into the living room and step on the rug to discover one of our dogs peed on it. Both look guilty AF so the offender remains unknown. Sad part is they were only unattended for about 15 minutes and they're both fully potty trained. Jerks.
  • @momo214 natures miracle extra strength (or whatever the extra power is called) is awesome for that. It saved my couch when my old grumpy cat peed on it.

This. Natures Miracle is the BEST
  • One of DS's buddies switched preschools this year and the mom of his buddy has been really pushy about constantly scheduling time for the boys to get together. I just feel like I don't have the time or energy right now between work and feeling like garbage to continuously make plans. I feel badly that his buddy misses him, but I don't want to be scheduled within an inch of my life after work or on the weekends.
  • Irma can kiss my ass. My toddler didn't sleep at all last night through the storms- nor today because why not power through. And we don't have power. So we are displaced (but thankful we have somewhere to go).

And the morning sickness can fuck right off, too.
  • @bearwithme that stinks. Hopefully you all can get some rest tonight. Glad you have a safe place to be.

Thanks, me too. DS can't regulate his body temperature well (can send him into seizures) so I can especially thankful for AC for him right now.
  • @rowboat4 now I want Panda Express!!!!
@momo214 We just bought new carpet on Saturday because my dog had anxiety issues and peed all over our carpet.  He unfortunately died, so I'm sad, but I'm excited to get the new carpet in.  The carpet was only three years old and it's ruined.

@Poppy0419 @sharkmama39 Natures Miracle is ordered and on its way. Thanks for the rec.
  • Awesome @sandbar517! I think waiting that long for an ultrasound is crazy with the technology we have and your history of twins!
  • @sandbar517 I don't get this. Insurance is billed for everything. Don't they like making money?
  • @justsuzie there is a school of thought that numerous ultrasounds are not good for the baby. I had so many ultrasounds with J and I hated them. They won't let you pee for hours, push on your bladder like crazy, and J always tried his hardest to get away from the scanner thing. He just seemed to not enjoy the experience. I'll stick to just one, or two this pregnancy.

(I'm not insensitive to wanting that peace of mind, and I believe you're entitled to whatever helps you sleep at night. Just sharing an opinion from the other side of the fence)
  • @justsuzie One would think so.  I had ultrasounds every two weeks with my twins, which is making this even harder for me.  And I think insurance is part of the problem, they have to justify why they're doing an ultrasound besides "the mom is crazy and wants to see inside her uterus".   :D

  • When our parents had us they only did the 20 week scan. I can't imagine!  I like the initial 8-12 wk scan for piece of mind.
