Pregnant after IF

Randoms of the week - Sep 4th (well, 1 day late!)

Have any thoughts, questions, feelings, fears? Spill them here!

This is a good place to ask questions to a broader audience than the weekly trimester check-ins so those with experience can chime in!

Re: Randoms of the week - Sep 4th (well, 1 day late!)

  • Hoping someone will have an experience like mine and can offer insight! Little bit of history, my first pregnancy ended last year at 18 weeks due to a bleed that turned into preterm labor/delivery. DH and I waited 9 months and then went back for another transfer.
2 weeks ago, I found out I was pregnant again. My numbers have been great, first ultrasound looked good. Tech saw 1 sac with 1 yolk sac at 5w4d. Today, I went back for my 2nd ultrasound, numbers are still great. Tech saw the flicker of a heartbeat, and I did too. But she couldn't get a clear measurement of the fetal pole or the heartbeat because of "positioning" She said the baby was tucked away in a corner and she had a hard time doing measurement. My gest sac is measuring perfectly though (6w5d).

Anyway, the nurse called this afternoon with follow up and mentioned a few things that now have me panicked. First, she said that the measurement they did get showed the fetal pole lagging a little behind (6w, I should be 6w4d). Then she said that the tech saw a second sac, but nothing in it. What does that mean??  Finally, she said that I have a tiny subchorionic bleed showing outside the gestational sacs.

I just feel so overwhelmed now. I'm trying to focus on being happy and growing a healthy baby, but goodness that was a lot to swallow today.  I'm terrified of another loss and don't even know what to think about the 2nd sac showing up. Anyone have any thoughts or insights? Thanks for reading!

  • I don't think anyone here can give you insight, that's a job for your doctor, but we can offer support. I know it feels horrible to not have clear answers and to be in that place where there's nothing you can do but wait. Know that you are not alone, we've all been there in some form or another and can empathize with that wait for answers that feels like an eternity. I'm sorry that you find yourself there :(

  • @halips hugs. So US can be off by +/-5 days so if things were measuring at 6 weeks and you should be 6+4 I wouldn't stress yet. When I was pregnant with my twins baby B was often shoved to the side and baby A was a uterus hog... So Baby B was way harder to visualize for many weeks. (even with my singleton pregnancy positioning can make getting measurements challenging). Hopefully the small SCH won't be a problem, often they are not unless they get much larger. As for a second sac it could be nothing or it could be a twin... I know as a PGAL lady every little thing can be so stressful. I really hope you have a sticky bean in there and that you can find something to distract you until your next scan.
