Y'all be safe. My family lost everything in Harvey and had to be evacuated by boat. Not saying that to scare you...saying that to remind you to not stick around if it looks bad.
@KD5624 we are in sprin hill on the west coast north pf tampa. We are hunkering down. I woek for dcf and am scheduled to work sunday so im not allowed to leave.
Keeping you FL momma's in my heart. Most of my friends and family is down there, and no one is evacuating. It has me in a ball of nerves.
I'm not evacuating because I was told not to by the governor? Unless you're in a county that has mandatory evacuation orders, leaving us actually really stupid and makes it harder for everyone who actually NEEDS to leave.

@yesthisiskim0401 Um THEY should have left. I'm sorry, I thought you originally implied that the whole state should go, because that's floated around a lot on my FB feed.

I lived in FL for 13 years. I know a good hurricane party when I see the spaghetti models. This sure as shit ain't it. I definitely get hurricane season, watches, warnings, and evacuations. I know roads have been a clusterfuck for days. But I still wish my family would have packed up and headed to me in GA.
Any of the florida moms freaking out a because i know i am. My anxiety is at an all time high we are prepares but its just the impending dread thats got me up tight

Not really. We've already started into our hurricane snacks... It's not going to hit here until like 3 tomorrow afternoon.
Georgia is already declaring a state of emergency. Freaking me out bc dh is traveling and I'm alone with my boys. Good part is my work is cancelled for Monday and Tuesday.
We just discovered our fire place is open (we've never used it) So we have my son's bathtub in it, and a bucket under the drain so we can dump it as the night goes on. We haven't lost power yet, but we've had two surges a few hours apart from each other. The "worst" is supposed to hit us around 3am, so I guess I'm not getting much sleep tonight. Could someone place explain to my SO that pacing isn't going to fix the anything? He's exhausting me.
@roomsu where in GA are you? We're in Cherokee county. I kinda rolled my eyes when I saw that the kids have off Mon & Tues but then I was excited to sleep in. I'm just worried about downed trees. Hope you and the boys hang in there!
@yesthisiskim0401 we are in DeKalb. I rolled my eyes too but I'm a teacher so loving the snuggle/sleep in time! It's very windy and rainy but that's it so far. How's it going for you? My family in Florida has said they have minor wind damage but it's been better than they expected. (Orlando area)

My husband works down there! Bless you for living and working there.
All my FL family that checked in is ok. Most have power back. As for the weather here, it's no where near as bad as I expected, and I didn't expect it to be bad in the first place. Now I just have cabin fever.
Yay @ivyvines6 glad to hear you made it out unscathed. Most of my Ft Lauderdale area friends are just now getting power back. My grandma in Sarasota has power. So glad this bitch Irma wasn't as bad as we all feared.
We made it through without damage to the house. A tree limb down here and there and no power socks we are at my moms since she still has power. Hoping it's back on soon and we can return to our regularly scheduled lives.
Re: Irma
We are hoping it turns east or at least slows down overthe next couple of days.
Weve got plenty of water, generator, food, and other supplies to last us for a week, if needed.
For the others in the path- where are you located?
We are near orlando.
