Weekly Randoms 8/28

Hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes starting this, but I had a question that didn't really fit in the other threads.

Does anyone have experience switching peds within the same practice? We randomly got assigned one at the hospital after discharge and I just haven't really connected with her. She's also mentioned a few things I think are outdated like introducing solids at 4 months. She also had us supplementing with formula week 1 when LO lost 7-8% body weight which I know now was borderline.

Re: Weekly Randoms 8/28

  • @CPR79 I was just about to start this!

I think switching peds is fine. In the hospital, you really get whatever pediatrician from the practice is on call. I definitely don't see an issue with it. You need to find somebody that you are comfortable with. Especially since your LO will be seeing them for many years! We saw somebody in the hospital and chose somebody different in the practice. I was adamant that I wanted a male pediatrician for my DS. I didn't want him being 13 and uncomfortable talking to a female doctor!

My weekly random: my dad decided to make a surprise trip out here. I love having him here and he has been a huge help!

  • I'll update with this although it was partly in another thread.  Today was supposed to be H's first full day back at work, but he came down with a man cold over the weekend and called in sick today.  He's napped more than LO today and I'm finding it very hard to not resent him as LO is super cranky!
  • @CPR79 We did this when DD was an infant! Our first pediatrician was terrible. She missed her reflux at 8 weeks and told me she had a stomach bug. She had me pumping and mixing her milk with pedialyte. She totally missed her pretty severe torticolis and Plagiocephaly. She dismissed everything I brought up to her. We switched to another office in the same practice and we couldn't be happier now. We've been with this pedi for almost 3 years now!

Our first pediatrician did this with almost everything. It was so frustrating and it was such a relief when we switched. Moral of the story- you have to be comfortable and confident with your pediatrician!
  • Oh god, DH has the man flu. Send help.

H had a bad man cold over the weekend. He was supposed to start back at work Monday but called in, so I had 2 babies at home. Fun. Sending good internet vibes your way.
  • @nktrodden826 sending you good vibes! Man flu sucks...
  • Ugh. We've got a man cold situation over here too. I have zero sympathy to give.
  • Oh man... I feel for you guys

  • My mum left yesterday. She left some food in the freezer but i wish she could stay :( also, won't be seeing my family for a long, long time (applying for passport)
it's a week full of sniffles.
  • Has anyone gone back to work yet? I've been working from home when she's napping, but have to go in to the office for the first time next week for a couple hours. I'm getting so anxious just thinking about leaving her. Any tips on how to cope?
  • Props to myself and the power of Google. My LO screamed bloody murder during his baths so I figured it would just not become part of his nightly routine. After some excessive googling, I tried keeping him swaddled during the bath and just unwrapping him in areas as I clean him. He was content the entire bath and only screamed when I took him out.

@carol113 not going back until October but hugs, I'm stressing about it already. I'm jealous you get to ease into it. My LO will only be 6 weeks when I have to go back full time.

  • *TMI Warning*

So my husband and I are having some trouble getting back into the intimacy groove. We've "done it" a few times since I got the okay from my doctor but each time it's sooo painful. It's not due to dryness or anything since we use plenty of lubrication. Instead it feels like I've lost my ability to stretch... it's totally the opposite of what I imagined post-baby sex would be like. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any advice?

  • @lanie1000 that was the exact experience with my first LO (this time wasn't nearly as painful and got back to normal so much quicker). My only advice is to not stress too much about it or put too much pressure on it. It WILL get back to normal... will just take some time. Take things slowly and keep using that lube! DH will just have to understand and get over it  ;)
  • I tried to have sex at 6 weeks PP and 7 weeks and it was very painful. It really stung. The dr said I have a lot of un healed tissue which would cause it to sting and gave me a steroid cream to use. I didn't have this with DS-we had sex 4 weeks PP with no issues, but the healing process is different for everyone. Try not to stress too much about it- it will get back to normal!!
