  Did they go away after a minute or two? Braxton Hicks are practice contractions. Usually not too painful, more of a tightening. If you poke your belly when you feel it, it should feel hard like a flexed muscle. If you had cramping for more than a couple minutes at a time, I'd call your doctor.
