Re: October FET

  • I am about to start stimming on Monday 8/21 for my first IVF cycle.  But during my recent SHG, the doctor found a smallish polyp. :/  So as long as retrieval goes well, we have my hysteroscopy and polypectomy scheduled for 9/27, and then - fx - FET soon afterwards!
  • Hey businesswife! I will be joining you here. I'm trying really hard to keep up with the July/August IVF thread but it is so active and is blowing up! I feel like I'm perpetually trying to catch up.

We are flying out for our Euro trip (yay!) this weekend and coming back Labor Day. Since I did my ER in July, I'm expecting my next period to begin any time during the trip. Then after the trip, once that period begins, I'll call the clinic to start my FET (finally!). It should start late September? But who knows. I kind of want to get this ball rolling too.
    My TTC journey:
    Me and DH: 30-35
    Unexplained infertility
    TTC #1 since 2015
    11/2015 - BFP!     12/2015 - MC  :'(
    IVF #1 July 2017 freeze all (20 eggs, 15 mature, 10 fert, 6 blasts, 4 PGS normal)
FET #1 TBD  Surprise BFP 9/2017 while waiting for FET... hoping for the best!

  • @helloworld9. Yay!  So excited for you and your trip!!  What perfect timing, really.  Where abouts will you be visiting?  I hear you about getting the show on the road.  I was feeling that way for so long while DH was taking his Clomid... Like please can we just get on with it!!?!?  Lol Plus anxious hoping we WOULD be able to get on with it. :/  So I'm excited that retrieval is almost here now, but then like you, it's more waiting all over again for transfer!  Gahh...  At least Europe shoukd help the time go faster, right?  We have a wedding and a shower in September, too, so hoping that stuff makes it fly by a little quicker. ;)
  • helloworld9 i was thinking about you and your trip and when you're leaving.  I'm waiting on AF and then shall start the process!  You have a great distraction :)

  • BusinessWife - We are going to Germany and Austria! :) Although it is going to be our 5th trip to Europe together. We just love going there haha. But each time we figure out a new country to visit. There is so much to see...

Hopeful_mom - I'm so glad you popped over! I've been reading your updates in the August thread. I'm really excited for you!

AFM now... we are flying out tomorrow. According to my "math", I should be expecting AF on Saturday. However, I'm going to do one of those cheapie internet HPTs tomorrow morning just in case, so that I can drink all the alcohol and coffee on my trip! I'm 99.999999% sure it's going to be negative, but I'm still holding out a little bit of hope it's not... I would rather be pregnant and not drink sinful things on vacation!

  • @prudence9-2. Hey!!!  Nice to see you!  Did you have retrieval recently too?
  • @BusinessWife no, check out my signature for history. But in short, had retrieval last November. And got 4 PGS normal embryos. Had my first FET in January and the second one in August. ***TW*** both times, the embryo implanted. First time stopped growing at 6w1d. And second time it was a chemical. My HCG level is 100 as of today... so I still need to wait for it to go down. ***end TW***

  • Oh dear @prudence9-2. I am so sorry for your losses.  (((Hugs)))  I appreciate the recap as I'm 99% on mobile so I can't see siggies.  (I probably need to sit down and update mine, too, now that you mention it.)  That is so tough.  Grateful for you to have another shot!  We are not doing PGS, partly because it's not covered until three failed transfers. :/ So a part of me is nervous too with that thought in the back of my mind, we could be setting ourselves up for a lot of heartbreak... but what can you do?  Get back on that horse, right?  You are so strong. ❤❤❤
  • @BusinessWife Thanks. It has not been easy.

As you can see from my history, PGS normal embryos are not a 100% guarantee... my RE thinks that the problem I'm having is most likely from the embryos... because they can still have some genetic defects.

I'm surprised that PGS is covered under your insurance... I thought that was always OOP... in my insurance you can have 10 failed transfers and it would still not be covered... I'm actually all OOP at this point... Since I have a lifetime max (which doesn't even cover 1 IVF cycle), I've been using my insurance for the cheap stuff... like IUIs.. etc...

thanks @prudence9-2. We used frozen eggs so as soon as we found someone we liked and paid, they shipped them to us. There is a great DE thread here: https://forums.thebump.com/discussion/12709229/ivf-with-donor-eggs. I'm doing a medicated FET.

  • Thanks @prudence9-2 Retrieval went Well!

    <div class=" Spoiler">We got 18 eggs!!!</div>
We will find out tomorrow how many were mature and fertilized, but for now just been resting and sipping on coconut water since I woke up.  ;)

TBT, we are a little nervous about having so many make it to freeze that we won't possibly be able to go back and transfer all, since we also didn't do the PGS.  So just trying to trust the process... see what happens!!!
  • @BusinessWife 18 is a great number!!!

Usually much less than what you start with makes it to freeze on 5 days.

And trust me, the more that makes it to freeze the better! You never know how your body will respond to transfers. Hopefully you will get pregnant on the first try.  ;)

  • Yes, @prudence9-2 ....

So of the 18 retrieved, only 10 were mature.
6 of those 10 were fertilized with ICSI!!!

So now we just have to wait and see and hope and pray till Thursday!!!  :D

  • Hi there everyone, sorry, late to the post! Have been looking for a group to join through this cycle! My FET date is tentatively Oct 2! I'm super nervous!!! Wishing all of you the best of luck! I started Lupron yesterday but kicking myself bc for some reason I thought I was supposed to start in the evening but the sheet said the morning. Do you guys think it matters? From what I read the most important thing is that it is consistent! Good luck everyone!
  • Welcome @Samantha335. I don't think it matters when you do the Lupron injections. As you do it at the same time everyday.
