FFFC 8/25/17

It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

Re: FFFC 8/25/17

  • I drank maybe 40% of a glass of wine on Tuesday night. I needed a bottle for a recipe (for a freezer meal for after the baby is born, beef bourguignon - yes I had to google the spelling there) and I had to have a taste, so I poured about 2 oz. It was really really good. (with DD, due in March, I tried half a glass at Thanksgiving that year and didn't even like it anymore - not so this time, ha).

I literally slouched on my mom's couch with my feet up on the ottoman eating small town Chinese food watching the Red Sox while she did all the dinner dishes and clean up when I was over there last week. I felt bad about it but it felt so good to be lazy that I let her do it.

I am such a goody two shoes, I can't even think of a good confession.

  • FFFC @Abby7 I like you a little less because you're a Red Sox fan. Go Yankees!!! PS DH and I are going to the Yankees - Sox game next week. :)

I had that figured out about you, and had to pause....but I figured as long as we're not at a game together it's all good. Ha. Actually I am a fan but I take them for granted most of the time and don't have time to watch games any more. Plus we lived in Chicago for a long time so I'm also a White Sox fan.

  • While I recognize you should be careful about physical activity and make modifications when necessary during pregnancy....I hate when people treat me like I am super fragile simply because I am pregnant!

Yesterday, we were moving things around in the school and I picked up two student chairs (maybe weighed 10 lbs combined) to move them. Our principal, who is very well intentioned, kept insisting I stop helping because I was giving him anxiety about getting hurt. I told him (and the four other people who commented) that I am perfectly capable of carrying chairs and even moving student desks. I know my limits and as a generally fit person who really isn't that big yet, I am fine.

In contrast, another co-worker who is pregnant and is 15 weeks along pretends like she can't pick up a 5lb box or do anything because she is pregnant. For goodness sake people, be careful, but don't become entirely dependent on others or infantilize yourself!

    End rant.
  • @abby7: Are you doing meal prep already for after birth? If so, very impressive!
  • @dragonfly87-2 yes I am. I want to have a ton stocked up since I will be going from 1 to 2, with the oldest being in kindergarten, so I need to start now. Plus now that I'm the third tri I am feeling panicky that I'm not ready so I'm in go mode. I made three meals this week and have my grocery list for another three next week. It has been nice and cool here so I've enjoyed it for the most part. If it gets hot again I'll quit until it cools down again because I don't have an air conditioned kitchen.

  • @abby7: Ah I see. How long do meals usually last in the freezer for? I have never done meal prep/freezing before.
  • @dragonfly87-2 I agree! Just because I'm pregnant doesn't mean I am helpless. One of our custodians moved most of my stuff into my new room, and helped DH and I move junk out of my new room, which I really appreciated. But I can slide tables around the room and hang up posters without help. It was really aggrivating. It probably doesn't help that I'm hard-headed to begin with, and generally don't like asking for help on things I know I can do myself.
  • @dragonfly87-2 so much of that!!!! I hate when people treat me like I should only be sitting down all the time and not doing anything. Or freaking out about any little thing like im about to go into labor at the drop of a pin

  • @dragonfly87-2 they should last for months and months. I am counting on them getting us through winter at least - it's all cold weather food - so far it has been the beef bourg., chicken noodle soup, lentil/sausage soup, and white southwestern chili. Will make minestrone and corn chowder later this week.
