Re: Anyone starting September FET?

  • Magallyta @HottLemonade2886 hoping your appt went well and your both ready to go!

cricci05 welcome back!  So sorry for your loss, I'm glad that you have frosties that are ready to go for your FET.  My long story I posted on here a bit ago.  I dont know how far long you were but any loss is devastating.  I loss twins earlier this year (fresh transfer) and had to get right back to IVF to first get some frosties to transfer but this time I did pgs.  I'm terrified to finally get to the point of transfer.  I too am now only transferring one (i want to do 2 but my OH is against it)  I pray it sticks, I can't think it won't  BUT I understand where you are at.  I"m terrified of the whole process.  I preferred to do a fresh transfer but had to go with the testing.  Praying this is your miracle baby!
As for the wedding I think its ok to go, you don't have to be a wild woman on the dance floor :)  Go and have a nice time.  Light movement is good I hear.  Did your dr tell you bed rest?

Medicallyblonde thanks its not easy, appreciate it!  I'm glad you leave in a place where they at least have good coverage, its disgusting we have to fight for any of it at all, sickening!  Sounding like you might be the first one up here, very exciting!!

@krenee124 glad your appt went well!  Excited for you to try again, keep us posted!!

  • Hi ladies! While I'm technically doing an August cycle, my ET is scheduled for 8-31, so I was behind the August group! This is my Second FET. I had  failed FET cycle in May and a failed fresh transfer in January. I've done two stim cycles (Jan & March). After the failed FET we did PGS, and have two normal embryos from the 4 we sent for testing. I also did a Kliman mock transfer cycle with two biopsies sent to Kliman's lab. They came back normal so we should be good to go. I also had a hystetoscopy in July to make sure there wasn't anything in my uterus that we couldn't see on ultrasound. I'm really nervous for this next transfer but trying to stay positive. I look forward to following along with all of you!

Hi @cricci0So sorry for your loss and welcome  back to the club that no one wants to join. I work at my fertility clinic, and our docs would be fine with you going to the wedding. Even the most conservative ones. They say light activities are fine so don't get to wild and crazy, but enjoy the celebration!
  • Hillpow hi and welcome - does your RE think you didn't have success cause you didn't have normal embryos?  I know its so hard hoping this is your magical cycle!!  What protocol are you doing?  You're getting super close you must be excited and nervous all at the same time!

AFM:  Made to the dr and waited 2hrs ugh hate sundays over there!  Should get the call to start estrace tonight so still waiting on that ...

  • @Hillpow. Hey!  Welcome!  I am not transferring till October, but I am curious how that worked for PGS after they had already been frozen?  If I'm understanding you correctly?

We are not doing PGS since this is our first cycle and it's not covered by insurance until three failed transfers. :/  But I have been curious about the possibility of testing any we might have remaining after the fact, if it were to become an issue.  My doctor said it can be hard on them to thaw, test, refreeze and then rethaw for transfer?  So I'm just wondering if that's in fact what you did, how that all worked in your case...?
  • BusinessWife I did not know that your insurance wants 3 failed transfers before paying for PGS grrrrrrr thats so freaking annoying!!!  They tell you that you never want to stress the embryo if you dont have to.  Is it possible to just get the biopsy done and store them for testing?  Is that a possibility so you dont have to go through the thaw and refreeze process?  I doubt the insurance would even pay for all of that would they.  I didn't know there was a charge for that but it seems there is a charge for everything!!!

Yeah, the biopsy and testing charges are separate *but coverage goes hand in hand. @Hopeful_mom so if pgs is not deemed medically necessary, then biopsy wouldn't be covered either. :/  I think it will be okay.  Honestly DH is very weirded out by even just the biopsy part of it anyway, so we'll just have to take it a step at a time and see how it goes...

So... I missed my Lupron last night. Has anyone else done this? I hope we aren't canceled. I shot up in bed at 2:30am and went and took it. Now I'm wondering if that was the right thing to do. I generally take it between 5:30-6:30pm. I was hoping someone can tell me it's not a big deal but I'm super worried I've messed it all up. I'm calling my nurse as soon as I can, just hoping someone has had experience with this.
  • @amynico I haven't had bag experience but hoping it's ok for you!  Did you speak to the nurse yet?
@Hillpow welcome and good luck!  Your transfer is so close.  You will be leading the September pack!
@HottLemonade2886 oh the places we have to "shoot up" in this infertility world!
  • amynico try not to stress too much I have taken meds late before and all turned out ok, hopefully your nurse will say the same thing!

AFM: I did take my first dose of estrace last night and continue with that upping it as the days progress.  Now I have my calendar, I go in 9/8 for bw/us to see if I'm ready to add in the progesterone and possible transfer 9/14 eeeekkkkkk

  • @Hillpow Welcome and fingers crossed this transfer works!

@BusinessWife - Yes you can thaw biopsy and refreeze embryos but its not ideal and can damage the embryos some. Since you are using testicular sperm you have a higher chance of abnormal sperm so if you could wing it financially I would test up front. We did and definitely glad we did.

@amynico - I'm not sure but I think you will be okay. Lupron is to just shut down our ovaries so if your dose was a little late I don't think it would mess anything up.

@Hopeful_mom - Yay! How exciting to finally be at the point of transfer. You have waited so long for this point. I'll have all my fingers and toes crossed for you! Are you just transferring the strongest looking embryo or do you have a gender preference?

  •  @HottLemonade2886 what does your calendar looking like?  I didn't think I had a gender preference but I guess i do ;)  Yes I'm going with one of my strongest ones.  You are correct that dethawing can hurt the embryo, my 5AA is now a 5BA... but i'm hoping that it will be a great story to tell :)  It frustrates me that i even had to do that but the original biopsy for this one came back with no DNA which was obviously not accurate.  I'm very thankful I have it and just feel like it's meant to be!

  • @Hopeful_mom Don't know my full calender yet. They have me on Lupron for two weeks and the first week I'm also on birth control. Eventually I'll start estrogen in pill and patch form and then PIO. Transfer will be 9/25 if all goes as planned. When we started this journey we thought we wanted one child preferable a girl. Now after 3 rounds of retrievals and years of this we want to have all 5 PGS tested embryos. Haha! Don't know if we could actually have all 5 but definitely see us having more than the one if we can.

  • @Hopeful_mom after all you have been through you are finally getting to transfer!!  Mid September  will hopefully be here before you know it.
I'm hoping to get my biopsy results tomorrow so I can stop birth control and get this show on the road.
  • @HottLemonade2886 unfortunately once the cycle has started that's it.  We would have had to make that decision prior to stimming.  I think we feel okay without testing for other reasons tho, so hopefully it will be okay ;)
  • Mewkie looking forward to hearing some good news from u - i have a feeling mine shall be coming in this week as well...I"m a bit nervous about it to say the least...

Not really sure yet! My afc's were 19 and 21, so that was really encouraging. But then so far my measurable follicles have just been at 7, 10, 11... Today we had 15!!!  So that's pretty exciting! I will probably trigger tonight and then I guess we'll just have to wait and see...
  • @BusinessWife Very exciting! My AFC is usually around that and I got between 14-16 eggs in my different cycles so hopefully you can get at least 15 good ones.

@Hopeful_mom prayers for good news for you this week so you can be at peace with your upcoming transfer.
  • Had a feeling my PGS results were in and from my Drs msg I could tell it wasn't good news.  Nothing came back normal from this batch so that's obviously upsetting to say the least.   It makes me so angry not to walk away with one good one after all that.  So much money and time...
yes I still have 5 good ones but there are no guarantees which makes it all that much tougher!  SO much for ending IVF on a high note.

Mewkie u hit the nail on the head with your post...I so wanted good news so i could be at peace and I'm just a mess.  I hate that i'm this upset.

  • @Hopeful_mom I'm really sorry you didn't get better news.  How disappointing.  Take some time to process it all then you can focus on the next steps and the transfer.
  • @Hopeful_mom I am so sorry things didn't work this cycle but some of your previous cycles did! It only takes one! We have to believe that! You are on your way to the 19th, so stay positive! Sending positive vibes and prayers your way. ❤️
@Mewkie did you get your results? Hope you have and everything is great.
@BusinessWife good luck on your egg retrieval
AFM. I talked to my nurse yesterday and missing my Lupron injection shouldn't be an issue at this point. Thank goodness! I have my next us/bw on Friday. Hoping everything is right on track with my lining. Fx!! 2 weeks away if everything goes as planned. Yay!
  • @amynico I'm glad the late dose of lupron shouldn't impact the cycle!  Good luck Friday. Hopefully everything is moving along nicely with your lining.

My biopsy results were negative.  Not to sound crazy but a tiny part of me was hoping we found something so at least there would be something "to fix."  My husband thinks I'm crazy
  • @Mewkie I'm glad it came back negative but I know what you mean. If it came back positive you would at least know the reason things have gone the way they have. Positive thoughts that this new protocol does the trick and it's all you need!
  • @amynico thanks!  You're right, different protocol and hopefully different results.  The rest of my post cut off but I have baseline us and blood work Friday then hopefully start meds that night!
  • Just catching up on everyone's posts and wishing you all lots of luck on your protocols. It looks like I'm early in the pack with transfer scheduled for 9/6. Excited and happy to be sharing the ride with some of you in September.

AFM Had another ultrasound this morning and my lining is 7.7mm which I guess is adequate but I was hoping for thicker/fluffier. I have a week to plump it up before transfer -- any tips from those of you who've been through this before?? Pom juice? Raspberry tea? Pineapple? Anything I haven't heard of yet? I've been working nights this month so I'm totally run down and exhausted and probably always a little dehydrated. Going to start chugging liquids today. After Thursday I'll be able to switch back to days and get more rest, long weekend off, hoping that helps too. Feeling nervous...

    1st cycle of IVF started July 2017. ER- 21R, 14M, 12F, 7 blasts. 5 PGS normal frozen.

    FET scheduled for 9/6/17

  • @Medicallyblonde wait! Tell me more. There are specific things I should be eating right now? Are you supposed to add all those things to your existing diet? Anything to avoid right now? I haven't heard anything about eating different things. Please share any information anyone has on this.
Also, is anyone doing acupuncture the day of or the day after transfer?
  • @amynico and @Medicallyblonde I have started drinking pomegranate juice and raspberry left tea. Plus eating raspberries. I will do the pineapple once I get to transfer. This will be my first so I don't know if this stuff works but I figured it gives me something to focus on for the month. I do acupuncture once a week and that will go to twice a week once it gets closer and then I will have it before and after transfer the day of.

  • amynico  theres nothing of what "you're suppose to do"  But there is the pineapple core thing, and i've heard of eating brazilian nuts too.  I did the pineapple and acupuncture before and after transfer.  I was trying to fit it in while i was stemming but for now i just wanted a break from it all as its so not my favorite thing to do.

Mewkie my Oh thinks i'm nuts too - glad things are negative but you want something to come back so you can fix it and move on.  Thats how i was with my MC so its just so hard to just move on and believe that its all going to work!

I know I'm suppose to be excited to be moving on to an FET I'm just terrified and hate that I'm crying all the time, I don't want to be this upset while prepping for my FET.  Its also my age that is adding to all of this extra pressure.  And lets add my OH is an ASS and just can't understand any of this.

I'm really disappointed i didn't get another one, its that whole decision time of what do you do and wasting more time.  I hate the results too, they are so close to being normal.  One had an extra gene a 15 gene, really!  I feel like it hurts less when its missing one not when theres an extra one...

  • @amynico @HottLemonade2886 OK I spoke to my RE this morning after u/s and she's totally happy with the lining so I'm less stressed about it now. Still went to Whole Foods and am drinking a hot cup of Rasberry leaf tea right now...just in case any of this stuff helps. It's pretty bland I have to say. I guess the major benefit is that eating/drinking these supposedly "helpful" foods gives me a (false) sense of control, as others have mentioned.

@Hopeful_mom I can hear and feel your heartbreak. Doubly hard to be going through this without strong support at home. If it makes you feel any better we're both starting from the same place -- 5 normal frosties. I know you're feeling the sting of disappointment right now but we're all rooting for you. I didn't/coudn't even ask how or why our two abnormal blasts were abnormal after the PGS testing -- I knew I'd be prone to obsessing over it if the normals didn't work out. Even though so much of this science is advanced there's still so much about genetics that we don't understand. Really frustrating. Sending warm hugs your way ~~

    1st cycle of IVF started July 2017. ER- 21R, 14M, 12F, 7 blasts. 5 PGS normal frozen.

    FET scheduled for 9/6/17

  • @Hopeful_mom I'm sorry you're still having a difficult time with the results from your last cycle. I'm sure these things take time to work through.  Try to be kind to yourself in the meantime.  My husband is an amazing support system in many ways but he never truly understands some of the feelings I have in regards to these things.  It can make it all the more difficult.  Hang in there.

@Medicallyblonde glad your RE is happy with your lining.  A week can make a big difference so hopefully by transfer day it will look nice and fluffy.  You are almost there!  I did drink Pom juice prior to both of my transfers and my lining was always pretty good but not sure if it would have been the same without it.  I agree, it helps in feeling like you are doing something to help!

@amynico I will do laser acupuncture pre and post transfer.  My clinic offers it (at an added cost) and they do it all right in the transfer room.  We are almost in September ladies!!  Eeekk!
  • @Medicallyblonde why were stressed about your lining? It seems like 7.7 is wonderful number with a week to go, right? Does your clinic like to see 10? My ultrasound is tomorrow and I'm feeling quite bloated. I can't wait to see what I am! Do you have cramps or lower back pain like your going to get your period? I'm sure it's all the drugs but I feel almost more bloated now than when I was stimming. Maybe I'm just super sensitive. Seems I'm extremely sensitive in all aspects of my life right now.
  • So it cut off the rest of my message.
    Happy Thursday everyone!
Good luck tomorrow @Mewkie! I hope you get to start tomorrow!
  • @amynico I had read elsewhere than 9mm or more is ideal and yes I haven't even started progesterone yet (starting today 9/1) so it should be just fine. Not looking forward to the PIO shots... I'm not noticing any bloating or cramps but I'm so tired from working nights I might not notice much except exhaustion. Tonight is my last night shift though and I can't wait to spend the long weekend relaxing. Just a few days away from transfer! Bring on September! Hope everyone has a lovely Labor Day

    1st cycle of IVF started July 2017. ER- 21R, 14M, 12F, 7 blasts. 5 PGS normal frozen.

    FET scheduled for 9/6/17

  • @Medicallyblonde yay for today being the last night shift and for starting PIO shots! Hopefully you can get some much needed down time over the long weekend. Keep me updated on the shot. Are you doing it yourself or having DH do it?
Im not looking forward to the actual shot either, heard it's pretty terrible but hoping it's not bad at all.  I'm taking the estradiol valerate shot now and it's pretty thick but not bad. I'm hoping the PIO will be comparable.
    @Mewkie  updates?
AFM us/bw today. Everything is right on track! Looking forward to the 12th. It can't come fast enough.
  • @Hopeful_mom so sorry about the PGS. Good luck on your transfer though. As mentioned before, it only takes one!

My FET finally got put on the schedule for September 8th. Fingers crossed! I'm going out this weekend for a last hoorah (trying to be optimistic)

  • Hi there!

I've been a bit MIA but I'm back at it. My frozen transfer is Sunday, 9/3. I am starting to get super nervous. Sometimes it seems easier to wait. I know many of you on here have been through this many times. I feel like the time and money I have spent on this cycle adds so much pressure. What if I go through all of this for nothing. I know you all have been there too. Just venting.

@Crystal321 You aren't too far behind me in transfer! How are you feeling?

@Hopeful_mom So sorry to hear about your results. I am glad you have some good ones waiting for you! I'm rooting for you!
