Re: FTM Check-In - 8/23

  • 1) How far along are you?  29 + 3

    2) Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? Had another appointment yesterday.  The appointment went really well (I love my midwife).  My growth and weight are right on track.  Baby is head down with a strong heart beat.  We also started to talk birth plan and birth center delivery policies.  I'm quite reassured by the non/low-invasive policies at this birth center (located in a hospital, but a separate practice).

    3) Cravings/symptoms? Morning sickness is back.  I think I need to eat closer to the time I actually wake up than I am used to.  Also tons of heartburn. Still no cravings per se other than my preference for fresh fruits and veggies, and salty/sour/tart/spicy flavor profiles.

    4) Rants/raves/concerns?  Tying my shoes is becoming cumbersome.  I feel like one of those awful man-spreaders on public transportation that I used to loath because it's just uncomfortable on my belly to sit with my thighs closer together.  I'm starting to get rather anxious about child care (costs and finding someone) and the work/life balance after the baby.  I'm my family breadwinner and will be returning to work full-time after maternity leave.  I'm anxious about how much of my baby's life and development I'll miss working!

    5) Anything else you want to add/ask?

    6) GTKY: Are you planning to take maternity leave? If so, how long of a leave?  Yes.  One thing I'm really glad I did was push my new job on a leave policy while negotiating my offer before kids were even a glimmer.  I'll be using all my use-or-lose time for the year first, then taking 6 weeks maternity leave.  Altogether I will have 8-9 weeks off depending on how much of that sick/personal time I use for doctor's appointments.

    6) GTKY: Are you planning to take maternity leave? If so, how long of a leave?
my boss just brought this up yesterday. Yes I am. It's unofficial since my company doesn't offer it and I haven't been there long enough to qualify for fmla. So far I have 70 hours to use and he said I'll have about 100 hours when baby comes. I plan on taking the whole 6 weeks and just not getting paid past the first 2. I told them I was planning on coming back after the new year so well see if I stick with that.

    1) How far along are you?
    27+2
    2) Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? next appt is 28 wks on 8/31.  Also doing the glucose test.
    3) Cravings/symptoms? No cravings. Awful heartburn and swollen ankles.
    4) Rants/raves/concerns? rant is frustration with my in laws which I've mentioned before.   They have not seemed excited at all and don't say anything nice.  Haven't seen my SIL in a month and the first thing/ only thing she says is Wow you're big.  Thanks.   But on a positive note baby is super active and reminding me that the only thing that matters is baby and the blessing he/she will bring to my husband and me.  We have been through so much to get here and I'm so excited.
    5) Anything else you want to add/ask?
    6) GTKY: Are you planning to take maternity leave? If so, how long of a leave?   Im hoping to take 12 weeks but still need to make sure it will be paid because we cant afford for me to take unpaid leave.  I have quite a bit of leave saved up because I have been with the company for awhile so Im hopeful that combining that with short term disability I'll have enough.
