  • How far along are you?
    19 weeks, 4 days

Any appointments this week/last? How did it go?
    Nope!

If you know, what is baby's sex? Have you felt baby move yet?
Girl and I think maybe! I'm still not 100% sure but I think I felt her a little when I went to bed over the weekend and again yesterday morning at work.

    Rants/Raves?
Rant: I'm having a Murphy's Law week this week which I kind of figured would happen since it's my last week before vacation. Also, DH wants to eat healthy dinners this week and I know I should but I just don't waaaaaaaaaaaant to.

Rave: We leave Saturday morning to drive up to Massachusetts for the week! Super excited to hang by the pool and make a couple of day trips (one to Boston and one to the Yankee Candle flagship which is one of my favorite places ever). Rave #2 - DH decided he wants to do a cabin weekend this fall so he booked a cute little cabin in one of our favorite mountain towns about 45 minutes away.

    Questions for FTM, STM+?
    Nope.

GTKY: Would you rather visit the world 100 years into the past or 100 years into the future?
Oh yikes, neither? 100 years in the past would have been during WW1 so that's a no and I don't have a lot of optimism for the future, unfortunately. If I had to pick I'd say the future just to see in what ways the world has progressed and if we were able to overcome any of our societal differences.
  • Loading the player...
  • @gusgus14 Yankee Candle flagship?!!? Of all things mighty...how have I never heard of this!?!? I am legit OBSESSED with Yankee Candle and I need to go there like YESTERDAY!
  • How far along are you? I am 20w1d today!

Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? Yes, last week I had my first appointment with my new OB office.  Everything went great with the exception that I may have ANOTHER UTI...I mean for real!?

If you know, what is baby's sex? Have you felt baby move yet?  Yes, we are having a little girl and I feel her every so often.  I did however feel a pretty good kick about 15 minutes ago for the first time, woohoo!

    Rants/Raves?

Rave #1: As I mentioned in my Ticker Change...new landscaping outside of our house that literally makes it look like a new house.

Rave #2: generally feeling like a million bucks and hoping to get back into my exercise routine today.

Rant #1: Hormones.  That is all.

Questions for FTM, STM+?  I don't think I have any at the current moment.

GTKY: Would you rather visit the world 100 years into the past or 100 years into the future?  There are specific decades that I would like to visit in the past, but they don't fall in the 100 year window, so I guess I would go with 100 years in the future.  I am sure the folks living 100 years ago cannot imagine the world we live in today, so I would love to get a glimpse into the happenings of the world 100 years from now.  Robots, flying cars, who knows!?
  • @jaclyn0405 - YES! They have two, one in Massachusetts and one in Virginia (I've never been to the one in Virginia). They have a year round Bavarian Christmas Village which is like heaven for me. I'm one of those nutso Christmas obsessed people. They have a bunch of different rooms you walk through and all of these Department 56 Christmas villages set up (some Halloween villages, too) and Christmas trees everywhere. There's one room where it "snows" ever 15 minutes and there's "Santa's Workshop" which is basically a toy store. Then, they have all of the candle shopping with tons and tons of candles and candle accessories and I think they have a spot where you can make your own candles but I've never done it.
  • @gusgus14 Wow that place sounds so neat! I'd love to go to there just to check it out. The year around Christmas Village reminds me of Bronner's Christmas Wonderland in MI. It is open year round and they sell everything Christmas - and have rooms of Christmas villages set up too! It is so amazing!
  • @gusgus14 stop it right now...I need to get there...just texted my FI about it hahaha!
  • How far along are you?
    20 weeks 4 days

Any appointments this week/last? How did it go?
Just our AS last week. It was so amazing getting to see baby again, and see how much he has grown! Plus also finding out we are having a little boy was the best part!

If you know, what is baby's sex? Have you felt baby move yet?
Boy! And yes, he is definitely moving. At first I thought I was getting a lot of gas/digestion bubbles while pregnant but the times of the bubbles didn't correlate with when I was eating. So now I've realized it has been him moving. Last week I was 99% sure he kicked me too.

    Rants/Raves?
Rant: Pregnant symptoms - all the snot and difficulty sleeping.
Rave: My aunt and grandma are in town visiting so excited to go visit with them. Also, they want to take me baby shopping since they won't be around for the baby shower (they live out of the country) this weekend, so yay to baby items! :)

Questions for FTM, STM+? Is it too early to look into getting a breast pump through insurance? I want to make sure I qualify for a pump, as I have no clue if my insurance covers it or not. And too look at the various pumps I qualify for.

GTKY: Would you rather visit the world 100 years into the past or 100 years into the future?
I'm going to have to say past. I love learning about the World Wars, so getting to go back in time when one of them was happening would be neat. With the prerequisite, that I wasn't in the middle of the action... I'd just like to experience it from the sidelines, out of danger, please.
  • @darkrose88 - I already got my pump! I wasn't sure what the process was like or how long it would take or if there would be healthcare changes for 2017 so I went ahead.
  • @gusgus14 Oh nice! I was worried since we aren't far along insurance companies wouldn't approve it. This makes me feel better!
  • @darkrose88 stm lurking - I already ordered my pump. All they said was that they wouldn't sent it out until three months before EDD.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @darkrose88 I used areoflow to order mine:) It will arrive in December.
  • How far along are you?
    20 weeks

Any appointments this week/last? How did it go?
AS today and everything turned out great.

If you know, what is baby's sex? Have you felt baby move yet?
    Girl and Yes:)

    Rants/Raves?
Rave: I hired people to deep clean our old house to get it presentable for market! They came out today and I can't wait to go tomorrow morning to see how everything turned out:) really debating on doing the same with landscaping. No way am I getting out in 100+ heat to do so and hubby has been swamped with work. I just want this house gone!

    Questions for FTM, STM+?
Who are you all having in the room with you during birth?

GTKY: Would you rather visit the world 100 years into the past or 100 years into the future?
Damn that's hard. I would say past:) I love clothing of the past and would love to see history in action! Maybe meet some historical figures and see what kind of people they truly are.
  • @darkrose88 Depends on the insurance but no harm in trying. I used aeroflow and was also told per my insurance, they couldn't send it out until October but then they did anyway so now it's just sitting upstairs boxed up.
  • How far along are you? 17w, 4 d

Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? AS and quad screen on Friday at 18 weeks!

If you know, what is baby's sex? Have you felt baby move yet? Team green for us, maybe felt some flutters but honestly not sure

Rants/Raves? Have been so tired this past week and half, and starting to wake up more in the middle of the night. I was hoping I'd have another couple months before that!

Questions for FTM, STM+? When do most people do hospital classes?

GTKY: Would you rather visit the world 100 years into the past or 100 years into the future? I'm thinking future just to see where my family will be.

    @gusgus14 Enjoy your vacation!
@jaclyn0405 ugh UTIs are the worst!
@darkrose88 have fun baby shopping! And thanks for asking the question about pumps, helpful to know that's something to start looking into
@madcouplewithabox Just me and DH in for delivery, but I'm ok with both sets of parents coming in a little while after
  • @madcouplewithabox just DH. Like we did last time, it will be just the two of us. We will call both sets of grandparents when we head to the hospital but ask them to wait til they hear from us to come visit.

@sjb2215 my hospital requires that you be at least 32 weeks to take their labor and delivery class.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • STM lurking.. @sjb2215, our hospital only offered birthing classes on the weekend, and since I was working almost every weekend, we didn't so ours until maybe 34 weeks. I would have preferred to do it a little sooner.

@darkrose88 check with your insurance, every place is different! I'm not able to pick mine up until 3 weeks before my due date or 6 weeks after.

@madcouplewithabox with DD, it was just DH and I in the room, and we plan to keep it that way this time as well. I really liked how it was just the two of us (plus doctors and nurses)- It made us feel like we were more of a team. We didn't allow visitors until after we had been moved into a postpartum room about 3 hours after she was born.
  • @madcouplewithabox I have been thinking about this as well...I think it would be really nice to just have my FI and myself, but then I think that I would like to have my mom in there too.  I think FI is leaning towards just the two of us, but I also don't want to hurt my mom's feelings if she wants to be in there.  Ugh guess I should have the conversation sooner rather than later orrrr I could blame it on the hospital and say I am only allowed (1) support person lol?
  • @madcouplewithabox Definitely, just me and DH. Family can visit the hospital after baby is born. I know my mom would like to be in the room, but I've told her no. While I love my mom dearly, if I make exceptions and allow her in the room, DH may want to make exceptions as well. And I really just don't want or need a room full of people while giving birth.

@schaze @madcouplewithabox @crizz13 Thanks for the feedback ladies! I've decided to try and order it now. If my insurance approves it this early, it is one less thing on my to do list!
  • @jaclyn0405 that's actually a good point! Check with your hospital - mine only allowed up to 5 extra people in the room during the birth. Not that we took advantage, but if you want more people than just you and your SO, make sure you ask ahead of time!
  • Mine doesn't have a limit really. I've debating having my MIL in there, but my SIL has been having trouble conceiving. I've been trying to be cognizant that she's going to want the experiences she has with her mom to be special, and possibly the first to do it with her. So I've been juggling not wanting to hurt her and at the same time making my MIL feel included in the experience.
  • So I went through AeroFlow trying to get qualification for the breast pump and they said my insurance didn't participate with them.  Do you ladies know of any other companies?!
  • @jaclyn0405 ::STM lurking:: You may have to contact your insurance directly and ask them what the process is. With my insurance you have to order directly through a specific company they use, either at the website or by phone.

  • @missblaze you are always such a wonderful wealth of information! I truly appreciate it, thanks!
  • @jaclyn0405 if you're having trouble getting ahold of your insurance company (mine always takes forever to get through to an actual person)...the company I used is acelleron.

  • @crizz13 awesome, thanks love!
  • How far along are you?
    21+2!

Any appointments this week/last? How did it go?
We had our A/S last Monday and it was fantastic!  I was worried bc I lost about 10lbs in the first tri and have only put about 1-3 lbs back on depending on the day, but the little one was measuring a little bit ahead of expected (I was worried that bc I haven't been able to eat much that he was stunted or something)

If you know, what is baby's sex? Have you felt baby move yet?
We've known he's a boy since Feb (we did IVF in Jan and our FET was in April) and I feel him move ALL THE TIME, or I feel him have hiccups or something, but he's a squirmer based on our last ultrasound lol

    Rants/Raves?
Finally after the A/S I feel like I believe this is all going to happen and be ok.  Seeing that he has all his limbs and a brain and was moving and everything looked good lifted a huge weight off my shoulders.  I'm finally able to think about registering and researching things like car seats and strollers without the nagging voice in my head telling me that I'm getting ahead of myself and its too early.

    Questions for FTM, STM+?

GTKY: Would you rather visit the world 100 years into the past or 100 years into the future?  Hmmmm....I'm gonna go future.  I'd like to see if everyones (my own included) pessimism about where this crazy world is headed is accurate lol.  But for real, I'd like to see where progress has taken us and if flying cars will ever actually be a thing!

Oh my! What about twin+ pregnancies and others that are at risk of early delivery? My hospital's class is 4 weeks. I've already been told they won't let me go past 37 weeks. That means best case I'd finish it 1 week before delivery? And worst case I wouldn't get to finish it at all?

We're planning only hubby and me in the delivery room. My sister in law has allowed a whole family reunion in her deliveries*, so hubby's family has come to expect the entire circus will be allowed in there. I told them no before I even got pregnant, but they don't think I mean it. I've told hubby it's his family, it's his job to deal with it. I also plan on telling every nurse in sight not to let anyone in but him. My own mother is a fainter, so she doesn't want to be in there.

*Our hospital only allows I think 4 people at a time, but lets you rotate people in and out.... when SIL had her youngest she had her mother and father, her husband, her in laws, her brother and sister in law, hubby and his sister (who were both single then) all rotating in and out during her labor! NO NO NO NO NO.

  • Re: delivery room -- I think it will be DH and I, and then our moms in the room. At first I said just my mom (we're super close and I want someone in there to take pictures) but then I realized my MIL may not get the opportunity to do this with her daughter  (my SIL/BIL have fertility issues, but they don't have the money for IVF and have decided to adopt if they don't get pregnant naturally) and if she wants to be in there, I want her to get that experience. I don't even know if she'd say she wants to be in there with us, but I'm cool if she does.
