Really trying to keep my cool at work.. dude that is supposed to be working on the same project as me has been MIA for about a month (working on other projects). Then had the audacity to tell me I should be doing HIS job during a conf call this morning. It took every ounce of will power inside me to not go postal on his ass.
Oh please just let me get through the next 2-3 months without turning into "that pregnant lady".
@KathrynJ088 How infuriating! Good on you for keeping your cool, but I hope he gets his act together and starts helping soon.
Magnificent: We got a lot of work done on organizing and clearing up the house this weekend. We moved our filing cabinets out of the office, and the nursery bookshelf in (with all the baby stuff so far organized into it). We built another shelf in the garage, and went to goodwill twice with donations. We're about one solid weekend of work away from the freezer-in-the-garage dream being realized.
MBF: Owwww. My hips hurt today from all the bending and squatting and crouching, etc. I did some stretching before I went to sleep, and when I woke up, and it's easily ten times better than last night but still achey. Not a great way to kick off Monday.
definitely MBF: the a/c is broken at my office. not the way i want to start my monday. the heat index is over 100 today and it's like a rainforest outside. i'm already 100000 degrees even when in an appropriately air-conditioned environment for a crazy pregnant woman...
MM: none yet. probably too much cloud cover this afternoon to see the eclipse but we shall see what happens. guess it won't seem so hot out (see above). we're not in the path of totality but still hoping to view the sky for a bit
Met: September 2005Married: October 2008 DS: 09/2014
My 19 month old locked himself in my bedroom. He was crying at the door and I was using the wire hanger to no avail. Luckily I remembered the neighbor across the street has a key for the bedroom doors (wire hangers no longer work it's now a flat key) and she offered to come help which I gladly accepted since I was all over the place. (Note I was in a long shirt with no bra) Got him out and he had snot all over his face from crying. Poor kid! And momma! Just ordered some of those keys off of Amazon..thank goodness for Amazon Prime!
@KathrynJ088 I have owned being "that pregnant lady" at work. I've got no time for people's nonsense anymore and the pregnancy card has been used more than once to say the things everyone is thinking. Embrace the honesty and let it be your guide!
@anewadventure Non-working AC is a form of banned torture per the Geneva convention for pregnant women. Fingers crossed they get it fixed or sounds like a good reason for a personal day.
As for me, MBF is I had my glucose tolerance test this morning, and girl be saucy (saucier than normal.) I got the sweats, and overall grossness waiting at the OB. Fingers crossed everything turns out ok, but just in case I'm going to enjoy a couple cinnamon rolls this afternoon as I sit in the dark watching the eclipse.
Well I'm off work today for the solar eclipse. However, according to dr google, I will poison my child, gove ber births marks, and cause birth defects if I go outside got my solar glasses ready
MBF - I'm bone tired. I have hit the point of not being able to be comfortable in any position I try to sleep in. I'm not looking forward to the next 15 weeks of trying to sleep.
Magnificent - We got a TON of stuff done around the house on Saturday, including mounting the tv on the wall and moving a bunch of furniture around the house. My rock star parents came up and helped us so it went so much quicker than if it was just DH and I. And then they took us out to dinner!
Happy eclipse day ladies! I'm going to rock out to some Bonnie Tyler and Nikki French from my desk at work since I didn't get glasses
@dkizz82 my MIL is a very superstitious Mexican and because of that I currently have a safety pin attached to the outside of my dress on top of my belly button. I think it's to prevent all those evil things you were talking about. And after I dropped off my 19 month old at daycare his old infant teacher stopped me to make sure I had my safety pin and key on me. I draw the line on the key lol
IT'S FREAKING CLOUDY AT WORK! It was sunny and clear at home. I live five miles away. No-clipse for me, unless the marine layer burns off fast.
@brittyclem Ugh. That sounds awful. I have to do my glucose test this week or next and I feel a teensy bit more justified in putting it off so long. I hope everything turns out okay for you, and that you can normalize your day after that lovely experience.
Thought I was going to be bitching because I had a dentist appointment this morning, but 1. It was 45 minutes shorter than they told me (prob because they didn't know I was pregnant and were planning on x-rays which obviously didn't happen), 2. Everything looked good despite it probably being like 2 years since my last appointment, 3. Three different staff members asked if I was watching the eclipse and I said, "uhhh, well I guess I'll watch it get dark-ish but I don't have glasses" and all three of them told me the office had one extra pair and asked if I wanted it, so, score!
Apparently the app isn't letting me edit my comment, and cut it short...basically saying NC is hot and humid as hell today so I'm enjoying watching it online.
My MBF is the Eclipse recommendations are the perfect example of pandering to the lowest denominator... basically the powers that be KNOW there will be some idiot who stares at the ducking sun the entire time then whines that no one told them when they're blinded... but I mean... the sun doesn't inherently get stronger because it's an eclipse.. and we go outside on sunny days without welding masks on... so the recommendations that you keep everyone indoors (including your pets!) Unless you have those special glasses pasted to your face for 3+ hours (some places around here are suggesting stay inside from 9-2...) is a little ridiculous.
Like... do all wild animals just automatically go blind because they may not have shelter or special glasses? No. Use some common sense people.
MBF: I almost crapped my pants walking the dog today. It's hard to feel like an adult when I can barely my waste for 20 minutes.
magnificent: DH & I weren't sure if we were going to go to my cousin's wedding. Long drive + hotel expense, yadda yadda. I looked up flights and they are $90 round trip AND my brother who lives in town with my cousin called to say they were done with their renovation and we had dibs on the guest room. Score! This wedding should be a blast & and a 90 minute flights is so much better than an 8-hour drive!!
@kvacmak I totally agree! The pet one I think is particularly stupid. I'm also like...the sun "blinds" me all the time when I'm driving or whatever if I don't have sunglasses on or put the shade down and it doesn't feel good buuut definitely doesn't cause permanent damage.
I might be the only person in my office right now who does not give a damn about this eclipse. I have a half-eaten brownie I want to enjoy in silence but people keep coming up to me to see if I am going to watch as I glare at them with crumbs on my face.
UPDATE: one of my coworkers gave me a spare pair of special viewing glasses and pretty much made me go outside to watch. It was actually pretty cool. Now I enjoy my brownie.

Okay, magnificent: It cleared up... so we wasted two hours eclipse watching, building various styles of pinhole cameras, observing the shadow/light play of the parking lot trees and explaining basic physics to people. Oh, and engaging in significant smartassery, which seems to be our favorite form of team building.
We are now wasting additional time by watching the NASA stream. @Skobb Great idea!
Oh my godddd I think the bigger danger to my eyeballs than staring directly at the sun is the desire to poke them out when I see 75844320 eclipse Instagram posts in a row. MAKE IT STOP.
We were in the path of totality and that was the most amazing thing I have ever seen! Here ya go @MJDsquared here's one More . This was in my neighborhood.
We got a thunderstorm right during the height of the eclipse and saw nothing. It was as anticlimactic as I had expected. I will never get that 30 minutes of my life back.
Also, I was so proud of myself for meal planning this week, it's something I haven't done since I found out I was pregnant. Today I realized I forgot to cancel my HelloFresh subscription from like 2 months back and they delivered a box today. So much for saving money this week, on top of that, the recipes are so blah:/
Momma to Amelia Marie (7/14) and Austin Samuel (11/17). Adding baby (girl) #3 on 7/21
@MJDsquared I'm with you on the Instagram/FBI eclipse photos. I'm pretty nerdy and love this stuff, but don't need to see 100 photos of the same thing.
Afm, my magnificent Monday is that we are vacationing with my 15 mo daughter for the first time since she was 3 months old. I spent a week worrying about her sleeping and napping schedule and she's been a rockstar this whole time. Slept through the night perfectly last night and has napped well today. So relieved!
update: still no a/c. still dying. ironically, the fitness center in the basement of the building is a cool 68 degrees. i had a nice workout but regretted going back to my desk when already hot and sweaty...oops...
MM: i got to see the eclipse, it was pretty neat. rain came through shortly thereafter. i actually enjoyed observing the changing shadow patterns of the leaves on the trees more than i enjoyed looking at the actual eclipse. pretty funky to see a bunch of crescents on the ground, fluttering in the wind!
XL MBF: random inability to eat much of anything today without throwing it up, whilst simultaneously having heartburn and hunger. oh, and i'm 10000 degrees, did i mention? allllll the sympathy to @Marley629 and the other ladies who have struggled day in and out with HG. i thought i left my nausea behind in week 15, and fx it doesn't return in the final month.
TLDR: blah blah wah wah it's so monday

MM- We got to watch the eclipse as we signed closing papers for our new house! Finished signing in time to see the peak too! Just waiting for the call to go pick up the keys. Can't wait to move in and get the house ready for baby.

It was totally foggy in San Francisco (what a surprise lol), so no eclipse for me. Whatever, i guess I don't really even care. MM: I went to my favorite baby store in SF and thy were having a sale! So I bought some cute clothes for the girls - all in 6-9 months so they'll be able to wear them for a while, hopefully
Magnificent: I'm on vacation from work all this week! Today we hit up crayola factory and DS had a blast - bonus: I felt awesome too!! Also, I finally finished my wedding thank you's (7 months overdue..so late...but better late than never) and the thank yous for my sprinkle that was last week! Finally getting some things accomplished
MBF: still have not closed on our house...there are two liens the seller needs to provide paperwork for to show they were satisfied. We have been packed and ready since July since our original closing date was 7/31 and the title search came back last minute with these issues. It could be another month or two before this is resolved.
ETA:
@anewadventure oh no!! I hope this was just a one day thing and that it goes away for you soon! The no A/c may be a contributing factor. Mine is so much worse when I'm over heated
@Marley629 so glad you felt well yesterday! high five! and what a bummer about the house closing. this is why the title search is so important. i hope they get their shit together for you.
i am feeling better so far today but i'm sitting at my kitchen table with the a/c turned way down, so it's pretty hard for that to not be an improvement. a/c is still out at work and i told my boss there was no chance i was sitting in a 90-degree cubicle today. like it or lump it.
@breezybee cute!!! i learned really fast with my son to stay far away from white unless i could bleach / oxy clean it i know plenty of people that have their kids rock white and maybe i'm just not doing it right LOL
