Anyone else have pregnancy brain?

I've had such bad pregnancy brain at work and keep saying things wrong and getting people mixed up and today I got yelled at for it. I tried to explain to my boss that I've been getting so mixed up lately and he said it cannot happen anymore. I'm quitting my job when baby comes and only have 5 months left. But today I just want to close my door and cry.

Re: Anyone else have pregnancy brain?

  • Oh man I'm definitely there with you. It's like my brain and my mouth aren't connected. I refer to everything as "you know, the thingy?". I was teaching my class yesterday and my ladies just kept laughing at me cause I couldn't remember simple words like 'leg' or 'arm' lol.

I'm sorry your boss is an asshole. That really socks! At least you have a defined end point!

Count me in too. But! I have made a habit of writing everything important down at work for the past ... oh, gods, 10 years now.  So no one at work is phased by my saying "I don't remember, but give me a second and I'll look it up."  If I go to even a stand up meeting without a notebook and a pen, people think it's strange.  So far, it has saved me from a lot of pregnancy brain oops moments.  (Not all of them... but a lot.)

  • Yes!  My husband keeps making fun of me because I'm always the navigator when we drive places, and I'm having a realllllly hard time with my rights and lefts lately lol. And I'm forgetting everything. I've got lists upon lists of stuff so that I have everything written down.
  • I'll ask my husband a question and then five or ten minutes later realize I have no idea what/if he answered me.  He thinks I'm not listening but it's like my mind just goes completely blank and I have no memory of our conversation!
  • @elcd458 I just did the same thing yesterday.
  • It's terrible and I think it gets worse with each pregnancy. I usually forget anything I'm supposed to do every day, and can't remember what I did last week. I get mad at myself for being so dumb, then get mad for being mad at myself. Haha
  • Oh yes... I was already a fairly forgetful person to begin with, so it's just gotten worse. I'll tell my husband I'll take care of something, but unless I do it that very moment, I'll forget all about it. I told my husband he's responsible for making sure I'm responsible, because right now I'm flighty as f*ck lol. His job is to just keep reminding me until I actually do the thing I said I'd do haha.

  • @leilagphillips I'm the same way! My short-term memory is pretty faulty anyways, I can completely forget a task if I don't write it down or set an alarm for myself, so it's hard to tell what's "baby brain" and what's just me being me. But the weird stuff seems to be getting a little weirder--the other day I put shampoo on my bath poof (instead of body wash) and scrubbed away, which I've never done before.

@YodaIsGreen That made me LOL... I've been having pretty frequent word mix-ups lately, too, I didn't even put it together that it's probably pregnancy-related.

  • @djd0404 that's so funny because this morning I caught myself about a millisecond before I slathered conditioner all over my body haha!

  • It's in full swing here! I'm usually not forgetful so it's been kind of funny. I forgot to watch the season premier of GOT, even after being super excited about it all day that Sunday and constantly reminding DH we needed to watch it at 9. I freaked out at the grocery store because I couldn't find my debit card - it was already in the chip reader where I had just put it...

  • I have been having super bad short term memory issues! Like, I'll be in a meeting, taking notes on what other people are saying, and totally lose the plot.  Someone will be talking about upcoming projects and say "We have the Smith proposal due in November that is going to Jones for review. " and I'll just write "Jones........" because I've already forgotten the beginning of the sentence.
  • Honestly I've had pregnancy brain way before I had my first DD so now I'm glad I actually finally have an excuse for it!!
  • Pregnancy and mom brain here!!! It's the worst.

  • Totally happening here.  I've been trying to impress the new intern that we'll be interviewing next week and so far I've called her the wrong name and mixed up what days she can come.  Not making a good first impression.  :(

  • Yep!  I've been having trouble with dates but other than that not too bad...  Or so I thought until last night when I may or may not have missed the subway I was already standing on the platform waiting for.  Whoops.

@Piccola1988 haha I almost did that too this morning (albeit it would have been a good thing to miss it, since it was going in the wrong direction...) I almost ended up in Brooklyn. Subways are so hard right now!
  • @blueskies17 starting to wonder if our feeble pregnant brains should be allowed to ride the subway without supervision!  On the bright side I'm no longer afraid to push people off of me if they are crushing the baby, so I guess that's something.

  • Mins was worse in the beginning. I was at my mom's house. We all got in the car to go eat. She ran back in the House for something and she said I had left the water running in the bathroom. Whoops!

  • Ugh I just had my worst instance to date. Forgot to fill out my time sheet last Thursday. And since I'm the director I approve my own pay... and still didn't notice it. So I'm not getting paid for all of my hours teaching last Thursday :(
  • We saw a movie on Sunday and DH goes, "Here we go!" and I was like, "Previews first!" The previews had just ended.

  • :o Exhibit A: texting with MIL  :o

  • @anewadventure ughh I did that before this pregnancy!

Now I'm just having a hard time finding where I parked at work.
  • So I had to travel this week.  On BOTH of my flights I sat in the wrong seat.  Looked at my ticket as I was walking onto the plane, and then sat in the right seat letter (like window seat, aisle seat) but in the wrong row.  Twice.

  • Spent a good 2-3 minutes this morning trying to figure out why my car keys did not clip to my waistband and then tried to unlock the car with my doorbadge from work. Yeaaaah, today's going to be fun.

  • I use spray on deodorant and dry shampoo. Today I blasted my hair with deodorant. Luckily is was one spray before I noticed and I didn't spray it all over like I do dry shampoo.

I also was looking at Ovia this morning and I said, "194 days to go!" DH goes, "What? That's 19 weeks 4 days, there's like 130-something days to go."

  • I left work this afternoon around 3:30 and took a nap when I got home. I woke up in a panic  at 5:30 thinking I had slept through the whole day and missed work!
I really forgot that I had already been to work for a good 2 minutes of sheer panic  :|
  • Mine is bad enough that my six year old now tells people "She's sorry but the baby is eating my mommy's brain".  lol

  • I'm so foggy-brained that it's actually causing some mild stress.  Like, if I'm driving to a nail appointment at a new place, I'll need to pull over and double check that the place I'm driving to is the same place I called for an appointment, because I don't trust myself to not have booked an appointment at salon A and then driven to salon B by mistake. Same with doctor's appointments; I'm always having brief moments of panic when driving to appointments because my doctor has two locations and I'm momentarily doubting whether I put the right location in my calendar.  I don't like the constant self-doubt!
