  • *lurking* @doxiemoxie212 I'm so with you on how stupid this episode was, for all the reasons. I am so mad about it.
  • @looeeze I miss you in our GoT thread!! I'm really angry and disappointed in this season after last night's ep lol. Like cmon, y'all had one job: don't screw this up.
  • @zamora_spin dude who needs a scorpion/crossbow with an arm for the javelin like the night king has? Wtf? Lol
  • @looeeze @doxiemoxie212 There have been so many shortcuts this season and I hoped that the final two episodes would at least have a big pay-off, but so far it's a no go. It occurred to me there were more organic ways to get those dragons north of the wall - like a story line could have developed where Bran talked to Dany, or Sam talked to Dany, or Sam told Jorah something that made Dany want to go north. Idk, the writing has been so so lazy and disappointing this season.
  • @zamora_spin or literally if it only takes two hours to fly a dragon from dragon stone to the wall, she could've just done a loop. Like get Jon on that dragon with you, go stop by winterfell and pick up Bran, then just do a few loops until you see this million strong army of dead people, then fly home. Good lord.
  • Also: there's a non-frozen lake north of the wall? really?
  • @looeeze right lol lol

also, none of those dudes thought it might be good to cuddle up around Beric and Thoros's flaming swords to keep warm?
  • I agree with everything you said @doxiemoxie212 . I wanted this episode to be fabulous, and I did enjoy the banter at the beginning but pretty much everything else was lackluster.
  • @doxiemoxie212 I also completely agree with your take on that one wight they spent the entire episode jealously guarding. Those things are everywhere, you can have as many as you want, you don't need to expend energy trying to protect the one you found first. I'm sure the fact that killing the WW who turned a wight also kills the wight will come into play in a convenient and dramatic fashion (possibly several times next season) when characters we care about are about to be overtaken by wights.
  • @zamora_spin right? Lol like, several main characters are surrounded by wights. "Kill the maker! Kill the maker!" (Someone kills a maker, wights die but on the other side of the battle.) "wrong maker! Wrong maker! Try again!"
  • how would you rate rate this episode? UGH it was like so good but so bad at the same time!

Fav moment? Dany and Jon tenderly holding hands. And him calling her "My Queen" Smash. Your. Nephew!

least fav moment? agreed with @doxiemoxie212 and @zamora_spin -- This Arya/Sansa nonsense has got to go. The smartest thing Sansa's ever said is how Cersei would love to see them arguing like this.

care to power rank the dumb decisions of this ep?
-The timing of this season is redic.. Like do they have wifi now? Or are the Ravens just fast AF
-Ok but can someone tell me how the white walkers, who clearly can't even step foot in the water, just magically dove down like Navy f-ing Seals and pulled the dragon out with chains??
-When did night king become an Olympic Javelin thrower??
    -Agreed about the Bran consult.
-Why didn't Jon just climb on the dragon ASAP? They could have flown out of there real quick and no dragon lives would have been lost. Was he just trying to impress his girl??

who won the week? Night king, obtaining zombie dragon is a huge win. Do you think he's gonna breath ice!?

who lost the week? Never been more annoyed with Arya. So unless she's got something else up her sleeve, and she's not fallen victim to the wicked manipulation of Littlefinger, she lost in my eyes.

Predictions? She can redeem herself by killing Littlefinger and wearing his face

questions? Is Dany def not able to have children? Like how does she know for sure?
  • @LeilaK9288 a lot of people think she's wrong about it but IDK, it seem super weird. Like, does she have periods anymore? I want the nitty gritty.
  • Also, priority #1 should be getting these dragons to mate and have more eggs/babies right? Like.... that should be their main goal for a bit, right?
  • @krys-2 lol the ringer was on point with that one
  • how would you rate rate this episode? 5, there was some I loved and a lot I hated

Fav moment? Tormmund (is that his name?) declaring his love for Brianne. My dead, cold heart was so happy.

    least fav moment? Everything Sansa/Arya

care to power rank the dumb decisions of this ep?
    1. If they needed a wight, why didn't dany or jon or someone just ride a damn dragon north and grab one instead of sending a party of like 10 past the wall to attack a GIANT EFFING ARMY and try to steal one? Anyone think of that?

    who won the week?
    Night King? Littlefinger?

    who lost the week?
    The dragon, obviously

Care to weigh in on why anyone still cares what cersei thinks?
You mean like the nobles or the poor people? The poor people because she will literally kill them.

Predictions? Jon and Dany are gonna fall in love....and I don't know how I feel about that. THATS YOUR AUNT, BRO

    questions?

  • @doxiemoxie212 I heard somewhere (maybe on a Ringer podcast?) that dragons can change sex. I don't think it's totally clear how their reproduction works. I love baby dragons and want more of them.
  • @zamora_spin yes but can they mate with themselves or do they still need a partner? Yea I want all the dragon lore. I was really hoping Sam would learn that at the citadel or Bran would start helping.

how would you rate rate this episode? ugh, the numerical equivalent of just shaking my head. perhaps I did this to myself, were my expectations too high?

    Fav moment?
like @kiwi2628  I like Tormund talking w/the Hound about Brienne.  I mean I didn't hate the final scene between Dany and Jon (they don't know they're related), but poor Jorah, does he finally realize that he is firmly in the friend zone?

    least fav moment?
What the hell are they doing to Arya and her character. i hate it hate it hate it. I am really hoping this is some long con.

care to power rank the dumb decisions of this ep?
Is it even possible. this whole thing was dumb
@doxiemoxie212 my DH said the same thing about Dany finding them.

    who won the week?
    The night king

    who lost the week?
    the realm of men

Care to weigh in on why anyone still cares what cersei thinks? no,  I really don't understand why anyone would care what she thinks, this whole plan was just so dumb.

Predictions? well, I thought more people would did this episode, for a show that is known for killing off characters they haven't killed off many noteworthy ones this season. I'm guessing there will be some deaths next week?

    questions?
everyone can just ride a dragon like it is a city bus?

@doxiemoxie212 & @zamora_spin I agree with so much of what both of you said. Also, Zamora_spin I remember hearing the same thing on the binge mode podcast about the dragons and being whatever sex they need to be at the time.
@looeeze I'm glad you came to share your GoT thoughts with us!

  • how would you rate rate this episode? I liked it for the most part. There were some definite side eye moments though

Fav moment? The back and forth with the white walker hunting party

least fav moment? When the dragon died

care to power rank the dumb decisions of this ep?
    - as others mentioned the timing....did they send a text or a raven? Can they teleport now?
    - How was the idea to capture a white walker a good idea? They couldn't take out the one bear how were they going to take on a whole army?!

who won the week? The night king hands down

who lost the week? Everyone who is not a white walker/night king

Care to weigh in on why anyone still cares what cersei thinks? They should off her and be done with it.

Predictions? I think next week will be back all about Cersei and convincing her about the white walkers

    questions?
  • I have just now caught up...I don't even know what to say...

how would you rate rate this episode? Lame. Like, a 2... maybe a 3 if I'm being generous. But then, I've always disliked the north of the wall stuff.

Fav moment? I don't think I have one. Really. I guess I'll go with Tormund, because him surviving and making it back to Brienne is pretty much the only thing I liked about this episode.

least fav moment? Every other minute of the episode.

care to power rank the dumb decisions of this ep?
Okay, maybe not power rank, but more stream of consciousness complaints.

First, a general gripe not strictly related to this episode - One of my biggest pet peeves about the books is that the Starks are so f'ing stupid when it comes to listening to their direwolves. You people have direwolves who try to warn you before bad shit happens.  WHY DON'T YOU LISTEN!?!  As frustrating as it is in the books, the virtual nonexistence of direwolves in the series is more frustrating. You seriously want me to believe that Jon went north of the wall and left Ghost behind?  Also, Bran's a worg, so he of all people knows the strength of his bond with Summer, but no, it's cool, let's just leave him to die. I'm sure he'll reappear in a later episode as a zombie wolf. Wtf ever.

    This episode:
    - I get that you feel like you need to kill a dragon, but really...really?  That is how it happens?  Forget the Night King having the aim of the century, why the f would an ice javelin kill a dragon in the first place? How is that even logical?  Last time I checked, fire melts ice. Why wouldn't the dragon's body melt the ice sword before it caused real damage?  Also, while he hit the dragon on the first shot, it's not like it hit him in the middle of the chest or anything. Last point, it's an ice sword. Don't dragons have scales/body armor? Wouldn't the ice javelin be more likely to shatter on impact than pierce right through a dragon? Maybe I'm just irrationally sad about the dragon death.

    - Okay, off the dragon. As others have pointed out... You know you need dragonglass. You're mining it. You plan on going north of the wall. Why don't you have more of it with you??? Why don't you have dragon glass arrows that you can shoot at the white walkers from a distance?  It seems to me that that might have been incredibly useful when you all hung out on a rock for 16 hours and the Night King just chilled 200 feet away.

    - Arya annoys me. I feel like I was soooo much more interested in her character development in the books. I genuinely liked her in the books. I cannot stand her in the series.

    - I completely agree on the Bran point. It's in line with people just obtusely ignoring their available information resources.

who won the week? Night king, obviously. Annoyingly.

who lost the week? Honestly, I really feel like it's Sansa. She's an idiot.

Care to weigh in on why anyone still cares what cersei thinks? No. I hate Cersei. I don't understand how Jamie hasn't murdered her himself yet. Dude...she blew up the sept with hundreds of people in it. She is directly responsible for the death of your last kid!  She's clearly bat shit crazy.  What makes him think she's not going to turn on him the first time he toes out of line?

    Predictions?
No, I don't even know what to think anymore. My only prediction is that Cersei tries to slaughter everyone at this little summit she's holding, but that's par for the course, so it's not much of a prediction.

    questions?
Yes. Why hasn't Bran told anyone who Jon is? For that matter, do we really believe the Ned never told ANYONE that this random kid he comes back to Winterfell with wasn't actually his?  Wasn't Littlefinger's big point that Ned was too trusting? He had to have told someone.
