This check in is for anyone diagnosed with a high-risk condition that needs increased monitoring or testing so that we can discuss our conditions and support each other. I'd like to pray for each of you in my daily prayers! If you're not comfortable, just leave it blank.

nope, had an uneventful weekend thankfully, we've made it to the big day

For a happy healthy baby and a uneventful delivery!
GTKY: What was the worst food you were ever served as a child? What was the best food ever?
OMG My dad had to cook dinner one time and we were super broke so he had to work with what he had so I feel bad complaining but...he put chicken broth, rice, mushrooms, and carrots in a crockpot. For about 14 hours. It was a giant mushy mess and tasted disgusting. It all just tasted like mushrooms (did didn't know to clean them off first) and the rice swelled up so much it was almost pudding consistency. I tried to not say anything and eat it but about 30 minutes after dinner I threw up everywhere lol.
The BEST? Was my grandmas apple dumplings with ice cream or her beef and noodles.

Just my weekly appointment on Monday and hopefully my last antibody blood draw.
Any concerns/news currently?
Just that doctor said I was measuring two weeks behind but also said baby dropped so she is not concerned.
Anything I can pray for you specifically about right now?

Any concerns/news currently?
Nothing too crazy. It was a calm week. Going to a concert tonight and nervous about the crowds and how I will feel tomorrow. I also started the process of maternity week claims and paper work this week. It is all getting real.

GTKY: What was the worst food you were ever served as a child? What was the best food ever?
I have always hated mustard and as a kid my parents would never remember and pack my sandwiches with loads of mustard I would have to try to wipe off.
I loved and still love my dads homemade meat balls. Yum!!!

How far along are you? 33weeks 6 days

Why are you high-risk? Old Age, GD, etc

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? NST and Dr Visit, also updated my GD dr about levels

Any concerns/news currently? Not really...still trying to master the GD what carbs I can eat or shouldn't eat and how much insulin should I be taking with a meal. I just got upped to 1:7. Which I was surprised by being I only had 1 high level and it was still lower than the max.

GTKY: What was the worst food you were ever served as a child? I didn't like Peanut Butter as a kid....also Carob (pretend healthy chocolate) is the worst!
What was the best food ever? Some of my favorite food memories....blueberry frozen yogurt, butter tarts, fruit tarts, rum cake, BLT's, My dad making puff pastry filled with seafood, my grandma's mint meringue cookies, kemps ice cream trees at my grandmas house, endless apple pie, ham salad filled profiteroles at my grandma's, coney island dogs, sardines/pickled fish with my dad, Holiday Green Jello (the good kind), fughi pasta, homemade french salad dressing.....

Why are you high-risk? Type 1 DM

Any additional monitoring or testing this week?
Growth scan Thursday and OB Monday.. Induction Tuesday!!

Any concerns/news currently? I am being induced on Tuesday night!!!! I should remember to start this next week, no worries. My insulin needs have dropped a bit! Not a lot to give concern for placental failure, but enough that I'm seeing some low blood sugars again! I missed my lows

Anything I can pray for you specifically about right now?
Healthy baby for this week with good blood sugars and that I can handle all these kicks in my ribs and liver

GTKY: What was the worst food you were ever served as a child? What was the best food ever?
Worst thing: My mom, bless her heart, attempted to make this.. dish.. for my friend and I when I was about 9. I can't even describe it.. perhaps it had pumpkin in it? A casserole dish.. but it was overcooked/burnt.. and it was horrific. My friend and I STILL remember it to this day!
Best thing: I LOVED Fruity Pebbles at grandmas!! And when my mom made me Fettuccini Alfredo for my birthdays, I was a happy content child

I had appts yesterday - MFM, endo and a meet the pediatrician!

So MFM went well, they wouldn't measure her since she was measured last week, but she got 8/8 on her BPP. Amniotic fluid was at 21 (down from 23). We talked about how my blood sugars are doing, and I mentioned how I'm so relieved since my blood sugars are much better, staying around 70-100 now instead of 150 and I've actually reduced a few basal rates slightly. She was like HOW MUCH HAVE YOU REDUCED?? I was like chill I know I know! Only .05 units on 2 or 3 basals!

Remember I'm at high risk for placental failure and stillbirth.. a decrease in 40% of daily insulin is a sign of placental failure. But insulin needs do naturally decrease slightly around 37 weeks and I'm so relieved to have hit that and have a better chance of having good stable blood sugars during delivery.
Endo: I told him I was happy with how my blood sugars were running now and don't want to make any changes; I feel like I can make basal rate changes if I need to lower them. We discussed delivery orders again - I will stay on the pump, and do a low dose dextrose IV drip. He wants that to help keep my blood sugars up when they can decrease due to the "marathon I'm about to run" haha. I asked if we could just do IV pushes of dextrose instead of a continuous drip, but he said no - we don't want to spike my blood sugars at all. I have to teach DH how to change my pump settings back to pre-pregnancy settings immediately after delivery of the placenta. I printed out instructions for him and showed him - "that looks really easy" ok, fingers crossed he can do it if I cannot. Lol
Birth plan:
1. Let me keep my insulin pump on. No insulin drip unless I am incapable of managing my pump.
2. Epidural. No shame.
3. Please use my frozen colostrum to raise baby's blood sugar first if BF isn't working. Formula acceptable if colostrum isn't working to avoid NICU.
4. Remind me to change my pump settings back to pre-pregnancy after delivery!
5. Regular diet.

I also met with a great pediatrician today! I like the office and her a lot. She will come visit us daily in the hospital after delivery. I told her that I am freezing colostrum for baby to avoid her going to the NICU just for low blood sugars. She thought it was great and had never heard of anyone doing that before (why am I such a unicorn?). She asked if I was open to formula, due to the calories of colostrum/breast milk being unknown and variable. I said I will accept formula only if it's the last resort to keep baby from going to NICU if her blood sugars don't stay up. The office and hospital is very pro breastfeeding so they could even hook me up with those.. tubes that tape to your nipple so baby breastfeeds but also gets formula.
Anyways, she said she would communicate with the pediatrician in the hospital present at time of delivery my wishes to use my colostrum.

@Sugargirl1019 totally support #2 in your birth plan. There should be no shame in getting an epidural - the option is there for a reason! I had wanted to try for unmedicated, but once they broke my water the contractions were so intense and so painful and I was exhausted from being awake for more than 24 hours. I was also having constant terrible pain in my ribs and trying to deal with that plus contractions was miserable. Once I decided to get the epidural, I had no regrets (despite some crazy stuff that happened right after I got the epidural, which I'll share if I ever get around to writing my birth story...). If during your induction they have to break your water and they ask you if you want to get the epidural before or after...I recommend before! I wanted to see how things felt after they broke my water but then the contractions got really bad really fast so by the time I was getting the epidural put in, I was in misery.

@Sugargirl1019 I second getting the epidural before they break your water if the doctor has to break it. The contractions after my water broke were miserable; they were so much harder and faster than before.

Yes! Get the epi and don't feel bad about it if it's right for you... seriously getting it was the best decision of my life. Also I second getting it prior to breaking your water
