Fitness Fridays - 8/18

Morning ladies!

Working out has been tough this week.  My back definitely is pinching a lot more, making me that much less inclined to exercise. Monday, the back pain was bad enough it triggered a round of Braxton Hicks.  Much to my coworker's amusement, the only place that felt remotely comfortable to sit and work was on the floor, up against the wall (where I could stuff a sock filled with tennis balls, and give myself a mini massage), with my laptop propped up on my footrest.

I got out for walks Tuesday, Thursday, and this morning.  Monday and Wednesday I was able to do some morning yoga and a quick exercise band 15min workout.  I think i need to start wearing a belly-support band.  Does anyone else wear one?

GTKY Fitness Edition: Favorite cheat snack?    For me, that's my honey roasted peanut butter.   I eat it by the spoonfull these days.  So, so good.  Especially when I drop a few chocolate chips in the mix ...

  • Hi! I haven't participated in this thread before, but it got my attention today. :) I'm sorry you are having such a tough week physically, @curiousfool1! I do use a belly support band when I walk and go to the gym, and it has been helping me. I got it for belly pain, not back pain, but I believe it is intended for back support as well. I use the Babo Care Breathable one.

I have been sick with a cold this week so didn't do any gym workouts, but I got walks in every day. Today I started swimming lessons, so I'll be adding that to my workout mix at least until my neighborhood pool closes in the fall!

GTKY Fitness Edition: Most of my snacks are healthy, but graham crackers have been my weakness/craving recently.

  • I have been barely exercising. My usual (scaled back for pregnancy) routine is 9:15 AM yoga on Monday and Wednesday, then prenatal yoga Friday evenings, then on the nights I don't do yoga I walk after dinner. I was on vacation all of last week so no yoga, then this week I couldn't go to either of my AM classes because I was so behind on work, and I will miss tonight's because of travel again. I did walk once or twice after dinner this week. But I know I need to get moving again.

"Cheat" snack - I can't pick just one. After lunch today I just ate a Little Debbie smores cake roll. It was awesome. I have been allowing myself to buy stuff at the grocery store I normally don't buy, but really only once, then I move onto something else (ex. last week it was of puffy Cheetos).

  • @Abby7 Gah, that Little Debbie smores cake roll sounds amazing!
  • I need that support band! I have an injured SI joint that has started bothering me and sciatica on the other side started acting up. He's so low there's just no relief. Not to mention I'm a little person - 5'1 was 110lbs when I got pregnant so carrying around an extra 25/30 is definitely killing my joints ...that being said I have been wanting to do yoga to stretch all that out. I walk with work - we're constantly out in the community - today we did 2 miles on a trail and I felt all the pain. So walking more than what I do there is out of the question. Lol. But once I'm home I'm just lazy. Here's to hopefully starting yoga next week!

Cheat snack? Um everything I eat? Lol JK..I'd have to say chips or cookies. But chips I can't control myself with when I eat them.
  • I've been trying to keep up with my pregnancy workout DVD's. Did pretty well this week. It's usually 3 days of cardio/toning and 2 days of yoga/walking. @curiousfool1 I use a belly band when I do my cardio/toning because I was starting to get cramps from the extra weight! It works wonderfully. I can't remember where I got it (probably Amazon) since I've had it since my first pregnancy. Although I am still on track to gain as much weight as I did with my first, I feel better about my overall fitness level than I did with my first since I'm actually working out this pregnancy!

ive had to visit the chiropractor a few times for my low back pain. It works wonders! I can usually go about a week without too much back pain now, whereas before I was in constant pain.

I start my third trimester DVD on Monday. It's awesome that we've reached this point! This will be the longest trimester, though, at least in feeling!

Food item: definitely chocolate ice cream. It's so hot outside that ice cream just does the trick for me!
