Re: FTM Check-In 8/8
What are your symptoms? Not much, my boobs have started to hurt and feel different, I'm cold, tired, and a bit of pregnancy brain.
What appointments have you had/do you have coming up? How'd it go? No appointments for 3 more weeks. Good blood work from last week but didn't do betas, just confirmation of pregnancy and prenatal testing.
Rants/raves? I missed The Bachelorette yesterday because DH didn't get home from work until 10:45 (he works an 8 - 5) so I've had to totally avoid social media today. I've only been up for a couple of hours and I'm already starting to find this hard. We finally set a date to tell DH's family about the baby and I'm super excited to tell them. My SIL had a baby last year so I'm anxious to talk to her about stuff. Plus we have a cute way to tell them.
Questions for FTM, or STM+? What's the deal with sunscreen? My doctor only mentioned lunch meat and fish at my first appointment but I've heard that a certain chemical in it can be harmful. I didn't think I'd be such a rule follower but I'm being super paranoid, much more than I expected.
GTKY: What is the craziest pregnancy/baby related thing you've done since finding out you were pregnant? I have lots of lists in an excel spreadsheet - a to-do list before baby, a registry items list, things to buy myself, and things to pack in hospital bags. I also may (or may not) have started an amazon registry and spent hours last night on Pinterest looking at hospital bag blogs. I'm a planner and it makes me feel better to do things because I'm feeling like I actually am doing something even thought it's way too early. I feel like the first trimester is a waiting game and too early to make any real decisions or changes.

What are your symptoms?
Nothing really!! I have very faint cramps off and on but that's about it right now.
What appointments have you had/do you have coming up? How'd it go?
Nothing until 9/7 which feels like FOREVER from now. I will actually be 9 weeks for our first appointment.
Rants/raves?
On one hand I'm happy I'm not having many symptoms but on the other hand a few symptoms would be a bit reassuring. I could do without nausea but a little boob pain or something wouldn't be that bad lol!
Questions for FTM, or STM+?
Not much yet!
GTKY: What is the craziest pregnancy/baby related thing you've done since finding out you were pregnant?
Going out and immediately buying almost $200 worth of maternity clothes lol! My H thinks I'm seriously crazy and likes to point out that my pants aren't tight because of the baby

What are your symptoms?
Nausea and sore boobs. I have been dealing with insomnia but I actually slept through the night last night!
What appointments have you had/do you have coming up? How'd it go?
Got my first us scheduled the other day but it's not for 2 more weeks.
Rants/raves?
I invited a friend over last night and she stopped to pick up beer on the way. She asked me what I preferred and I told her I wasn't drinking at the moment. She asked if it was for personal reasons and I said yes. Then we get to my house and I have an ultrasound script with Midwives written across the top sitting right in my living room. I'm sure she's got some suspicions now.
Questions for FTM, or STM+?
Nope
GTKY: What is the craziest pregnancy/baby related thing you've done since finding out you were pregnant?
Reading Lucie's List for product recommendations and pinning baby products to my secret baby board.
4 weeks today!
What are your symptoms?
A lot of bloating, some fatigue
What appointments have you had/do you have coming up? How'd it go?
I go in at 8 weeks for an ultrasound and have an appointment with a nurse at my ob clinic. I won't meet my OB until 12 weeks. Has anyone else had that kind of a setup? I'm not concerned, but it seems like pregnant friends usually met the OB at first appt.
Rants/raves?
I'm a teacher and am at a new school this year, unfortunately I replaced a hoarder who left everything when she retired. We're talking 6, 5 foot tall filing cabinets completely filled and TEN boxes overfllowing with old magazines. It's a long week of pitching everything.

GTKY: What is the craziest pregnancy/baby related thing you've done since finding out you were pregnant?
At all of 4 weeks pregnant, I bought a maternity shirt today. It was too cute to pass up and on clearance and with how bloated I was feeling, I couldn't leave it there.
What are your symptoms? all are pretty mild, but I occasionally have a tiny bit of nausea, shortness of breath (I get winded easily), very thirsty, pee all the time, occasional cramping,
What appointments have you had/do you have coming up? How'd it go? first ultrasound on Monday! I also booked my first OB appointment on Sept 15, and have a mandatory "healthy pregnancy" class on Sept 1 that this OB requires.
Rants/raves? not much, just annoyed that the girl's name that we picked out quite a long time ago is now REALLY REALLY popular.
Questions for FTM, or STM+? book recommendations for pregnancy, birth, and caring for a newborn?
GTKY: What is the craziest pregnancy/baby related thing you've done since finding out you were pregnant? Ha, last night I dipped both an OPK and a HPT just for fun. It was kinda cool because the OPK test line showed up blazing positive before the control line even had color. And, of course the HPT was perfectly positive - which still makes me feel good!

@justkeepswimming8 honestly I wouldn't worry to much about any of the typical stuff they tell you to avoid during pregnancy. I recommend reading Expecting Better - it's a great no-nonsense approach and the author is a data analyst by trade, so she goes through all of the "normal" pregnancy precautions and debunks a lot of them. Regarding fish - she recommends avoiding the high mercury fish, that's it. Sushi is fine. Lunch meat is fine, but if you want to be really cautious just heat it up before eating.
@allowachick is right, the ingredient oxybenzone is the concern. You can check this out for more info and lists of safe(r) products.
I'm also envious of your organization skills! Right now all of that stuff just makes me want to take a nap lol.
@JJMNO1616 I had to stop myself from ordering a bunch of maternity stuff from Zulily yesterday!
@allowachick I feel you on the insomnia. Some nights I sleep well, other's I feel like I'm asleep for 30 minutes and then awake for an hour. Rinse and repeat!
@tj528 sorry you have to deal with the hoarder's mess!

What are your symptoms? the nausea seriously stepped the F up this week. Been spending the mornings trying not to puke by downing plain crackers/ginger ale and sucking on Preggie Pops. Boobs are huge and sore still and the bloat is real ('sup, hair elastic trick). I'm still in pretty positive mental state so I've got that going I guess!
What appointments have you had/do you have coming up? How'd it go? still very impatiently waiting for my first appt on 8/22. My office has everyone meet with the NP at the first appt and then meet the OB later. They also don't do U/S at the first appt so even more waiting for that - killing me!
Rants/raves? Not really a rant, but I'm finding it harder and harder not to tell people. I'm getting together with my BFF this weekend who I only get to see every month or 2 and I'm telling her then bc I wanted to do it in person - I can't wait! We are telling siblings this weekend too. My only other rant is how shitty I feel with the nausea but I am grateful for having symptoms because hopefully it means things are going ok!
Questions for FTM, or STM+? I second @lund on the book recommendations! I bought What to Expect and am trying to get through it but holy crap that S is looooong. Wondering if there's something better out there. Also need serious help with the newborn part in particular because I feel like we're clueless!
GTKY: What is the craziest pregnancy/baby related thing you've done since finding out you were pregnant? I bought a couple dresses from Wren & Ivory that are "bump friendly" which was my way of justifiying getting them since they aren't technically maternity, lol. I've also gotten 2 onesies that I couldn't resist. One says "Let's Taco Bout It" with a picture of a taco... like how could I not.

What are your symptoms?
Sore boobs, bloating, minor nausea
What appointments have you had/do you have coming up? How'd it go?
Had a confirmation appointment but the receptionist mistook me for someone else and said I was free to go between the urine sample and the nurse visit... Going back next Tuesday.
Rants/raves?
I love it so far! I mean don't get me wrong, I'm tired and bloated but I'm excited.

How do you keep from planning everything already?! I have a family history of CMs and we're trying to take it easy til wk 12 before going gung ho on buying things and planning a gender reveal date at least.
GTKY: What is the craziest pregnancy/baby related thing you've done since finding out you were pregnant?
I guess it's not crazy but I started a pregnancy journal for my milestones and my thoughts for the future for LO to have when they plan to have their own LO.

How far along are you? 5w5d
What are your symptoms? Upset stomach, a touch of nausea, constipation, weird appetite, thirsty/peeing, lots of stretching/soreness in my abs.
What appointments have you had/do you have coming up? How'd it go? My U/S isn't for a couple more weeks... it's weird, because these are also my last couple weeks before going back to teaching, so I simultaneously want them to last forever and fly by
Rants/raves? I'm just happy that all is going well so far!

GTKY: What is the craziest pregnancy/baby related thing you've done since finding out you were pregnant? I don't think I've done anything too crazy so far, but I did get a little too into mixing various juices with fizzy water in an empty beer bottle in an attempt to make sure that the color looks right so I could do a better job of fake drinking in front of my parents...

What are your symptoms?
Not much, tender boobs and a bit of nausea here and there but I honestly probably wouldn't have noticed it if I didn't know I was pregnant.
What appointments have you had/do you have coming up? How'd it go?
I don't have my first ultrasound until the 29th! Trying to enjoy the ride and doing a better job this week than last.
Rants/raves?
I'm in the middle of facilitating a major training program at work which means I'm on my feet all day (and then working late to finish up my day job). Ready for these next two weeks to be over!
Questions for FTM, or STM+?
No questions at the moment but I do have a book recommendation for @frenchiekinplusone and @lund ! I really like Jillian Michaels' book "Yeah BABY!" not really for any of the info on pregnancy but more for the meal plans and the exercise plan. She has circuits for each trimester of the pregnancy and I have been doing them in addition to running. It's great having the peace of mind knowing these exercises are "pregnancy" approved so to speak.
GTKY: What is the craziest pregnancy/baby related thing you've done since finding out you were pregnant?
Probably when I blurted it out to my two best friends in the liquor aisle at a grocery store because I couldn't come up with an answer to what red do I want to drink...
@lund @justkeepswimming8 I have been reading Expecting Better that I got from the library. I think it's because I just took economics and epidemiology courses, but I'm finding some of her conclusions to be a bit obvious. And still using her methods I find myself coming up on the cautious side because, as a loss mama, for me I rank the chance of miscarriage much more importantly than she does. Still a good read though
How far along are you?
5 weeks and 2 days today
What are your symptoms?
overall they have been minimal. My boobs have been tender, frequent needing to urinate, I have been cold with some mild cramping and nausea. A little more tired but could be from also cutting out caffiene.
What appointments have you had/do you have coming up? How'd it go?
i had my first OB appointment and it was great! They just confirmed the pregnancy. I have my first ultrasound on Friday August 25th (this is going to be the longest 2 weeks
@sunshinedays-2 Thanks for the Jillian Michaels book rec - I like her workout videos a lot, so I ordered it

Fatigue, sore boobs, occasional cramping, and just now today--frequent peeing!
What appointments have you had/do you have coming up? How'd it go?
I wont see my OB until 9-7 and the wait might kill me!
Questions for FTM, or STM+?
We are heading to the beach for Labor Day weekend and I can't find any recommendations on safe sunscreen brands. Anyone have a brand that their OB has approved?
GTKY: What is the craziest pregnancy/baby related thing you've done since finding out you were pregnant?
I haven't bought anything (still feels to soon since we haven't heard the heart beat) and the only other person that knows is my husband. But I have started talking to my LO. I have an hour commute to my job so I occasionally have little chats with it and tell it to hang in there and that it has a great life waiting for it in 9 months.
