Why are you HR? Last pregnancy, I had pregnancy induced hypertension and a partial abruption. My diastolic BPs have been intermittently high since delivery but not consistent enough to be put on medications. Plan is to start Aspirin at 12 weeks with MFM referral.

Questions for STM high risk? Not at the moment, anyone else with an abruption previously?

GTKY: what is your favorite season and why? I'm with @Melis222, I live in Texas so we have hot and "please for the love of, don't go outside."
But when I lived in NC, I agree with @Mattel, Fall is the best! I love the leaves changing.

    Why are you HR?
I have hashimoto's thyroiditis and I had postpartum thyroiditis after the birth of my DD. Ever since her birth they've had a really hard time getting my thyroid under control. Also AMA (36 now, 37 at due date.)

    Questions for STM high risk?
Any other thyroid disease moms have experience with out of range thyroid at the beginning of pregnancy and things being okay?  I just got off the phone with my endocrinologist and, even though they *just* adjusted my meds for the millionth time like a month ago, my TSH is 6 and my endocrinologist says it should be at 2.5 for less for a healthy pregnancy.  I'm really, really anxious about this.  I was technically high risk last pregnancy, but I didn't worry or feel like it because my thyroid autoimmune disease had always been easily controlled by meds, but for some reason, since the birth of my daughter, they cannot lock it down.  (For example, when I was at the worst of postpartum thyroiditis my TSH swung from .0003 to 20 in four weeks!)  It's better now, but it went from 2.4 to 6 in a month, so I still feel like it's something causing me serious anxiety.  My T3 and T4 are in normal range though, so I am trying to reassure myself of that, but I was like, shaking with fear after getting off the phone with my endocrinologist just now.  Would love any reassuring words.

Like a lot of you guys I live in a pretty same-all-year-round area (Los Angeles) but if I'm ever anywhere with actual seasons, I love fall so much.
  • @maureenmce I'm on the other side of the spectrum with Graves' disease (hyper) and I managed to stay controlled last pregnancy so I'm hoping it's the same for this one. Have you talked to a MFM about your numbers ? I feel like my specialists knows about their disease but not always as much about the baby stuff and impacts .

@danjoly Not sure what an MFM is (sorry!) but I called and left a (panicked) message for my OB, so she should call me back later today.  They had decided this morning that since I'm seeing my endocrinologist so often they won't need to see me for an ultrasound or any bloodwork until 8 weeks, but I just called to see if they want to see me earlier if I'm out of range.  Last time they saw me at 6 weeks.

My endocrinologist said "nature is very forgiving" and said most likely the baby would be okay even with my TSH spiking out of range, but it was all kind of vague.  Hoping my OB has more concrete stuff to say when she calls back.

I'm sure part of it is the pregnancy hormones but I'm seriously shaking I'm so nervous.  I'm sure I'm overreacting but I can't seem to tell my body that!

  • @maureenmce I have hashimotos too. With my DD (now 2) I had to have my med adjusted at about 8 weeks. This time I went for bloodwork really early (4 weeks) and my levels were fine. So now my endo doesn't want to see me until end of Sept to re-test my levels. I feel like that might be too late?? I think by 8 weeks my levels were about 4.5. Meds were adjusted and the pregnancy continued just fine. I hope you can get some peace of mind with your levels. When do you test them again?
  • @Melis222 That's awesome to hear that your levels were 4.5 and everything went fine with your last pregnancy.  I see my endocrinologist again in a little less than 4 weeks, on September 11th.  Hopefully this change in dose will do the trick and things will be back in range by then!

As for if your endo is waiting too long to see you again, mine is basically following the same pattern - I saw her at 4 weeks, 2 days and I'll be seeing her again at 8 weeks, 2 days.  Must be the normal spacing of appointments, I guess?  Glad your levels were good at your 4 week check and hope they stay in range the whole pregnancy!

    Why are you hr?
I'm not completely sure I am? I have had 3 miscarriages (16w, 8w, & 4w) and have the MTHFR mutation (clotting disorder). My dr also recently diagnosed me with antiphospholipid syndrome. I started daily injections of lovenox 40mg at 4 weeks. I'd really like to connect with someone on the same medication!
GTKY: what is your favorite season and why?
Fall! I live in N. Florida and it is so nice to have cooler weather and see the leaves change colors!

  • Update: talked to my OB just now and she said as long as my endocrinologist is aggressively upping my medication (which she is) things should be fine. She also agreed to see me a week earlier for my ultrasound, for my peace of mind, so I'll be going in in Sept 5th, at a little over 7 weeks, instead of a little over 8 weeks, like we initially planned. Wish I could fast forward time until then, but feeling reassured!

I love Summer! Definitely loving this hot weather right now and hate the cold and snow... not looking forward to it!!
  • @mrsharrigan me! I was on lovenox for pregnancy 1 until 34 weeks then switch to heparin until birth and back to lovenox until 6 weeks PP.
this time around I'm starting lovenox at 8 weeks and I'm currently taking baby aspirin daily.
Didnt had any problems with the blood thinner except for being annoyed of the daily shots and a belly covered in huge bruises.

    Why are you HR?
I had an ectopic pregnancy three years ago. I lost my right tube. I'm considered high risk until we make sure the egg is in the right spot! I also have high glucose in my urine and for my son I had gest diabetes early on. I have already been tested this pregnancy and have lots of sugar in my pee
