1) How far along are you?  28+2
2) Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go?  I had my 27/28 week appointment last week, along with the glucose test.  The appointment itself went well.  I really like the mid-wife I've been seeing and hope she is the one on-call when I go into labor.  We went over the TDAP vaccination (which I am requiring all my immediate family members who are not otherwise up-to-date or allergic) to get before they come meet the baby.  I am firmly behind vaccinations; this really is the line I've decided to draw.  So far, only my mother and her abject fear of doctors and medicine has given me any push-back.

3) Cravings/symptoms?  No specific cravings; still just prefer fresh fruit and veggies, and sour/tart/spicy/pickled flavors. I really think I need to up my food intake, though. I've been feeling more than a bit dizzy in the mornings for the last few days.  It's not as if I have been dieting or restricting consumption at all. I eat when I feel hungry.  But I have been keeping track of my food intake in my food journal as I off-and-on always have and have not found myself eating significantly more calories than usual.  The other biggest symptom is serious restlessness and difficulty sleeping at night.  If it is too warm, I can't sleep, but if it is too cold I end up with nipple vasospasms and then also cannot sleep because of the pain.  Ugh.

4) Rants/raves/concerns?

5) Anything else you want to add/ask?  How are other FTMs dealing with family vaccinations and baby visits? Are you asking for time after you get home from the hospital before stay-over visitors descend? How are those conversations going?

6) GTKY: My favorite pregnancy story so far happened just this past week.  I was laying down next to my dog for a few moments right before bed.  He shifted so his head and one of his front paws rested on my lower abdomen.  He was just about asleep when the baby gave a very firm kick, directly under his chin.  The dog's eyes flew open with a "What was that?!" look.  It's the only time he's felt the baby so far.

Blood work this week for glucose test.

I have been waking up in the middle of the night like wide awake and can't get back to sleep it's so not like me.
    4) Rants/raves/concerns?
Rave: got crib and change table ordered so they should be in some time next week. The only bigger item left to buy is a rocking chair.
    5) Anything else you want to add/ask?
    Nope
    6) GTKY:  Favorite pregnancy moment so far.
I am going to have to say my crazy hormones. I cried one day cause I saw cows lying in a field and wondered if they got sun burns like people and started to cry thinking about it. Also the time I cried because my husband was still in bed and I had to get ready for work. At least I can look back and laugh at how crazy I am.
  • @curiousfool1 Sorry you're getting a little push-back from your mother on vaccinations! I got very lucky and got an email from my MIL last week asking if they need to get TDAP before meeting the baby. I just cc'd my own parents on my reply and said that yes, it's essential. Turns out 3/4 of the grandparents are already up-to-date, and I'm hoping my FIL (and my husband, actually...) will make sure they are up-to-date as well without me harassing them.

    1) How far along are you? 25+3
    2) Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? Check-up last week, all good!
    3) Cravings/symptoms? The last couple days I've just been extra tired and grumpy.
    4) Rants/raves/concerns? I guess my rant is that I'm having a really tough time with body image right now. I know it's good and healthy to gain weight, and I'm glad my body knows how to take care of this baby, but I feel so uncomfortable with my changing body. I guess the good part is that this inspires me to keep exercising every day! Anyone else having trouble with body image?
    5) Anything else you want to add/ask? --
    6) GTKY:  Favorite pregnancy moment so far. The kicks are getting big enough that I can see them poking out when I look at my belly. (I'm even watching my belly "dance" right now.) So cool! I also love it when my husband feels or sees kicks and is impressed with the baby's strength. :)
  • @YesOuiCan - Thanks.  Yeah, the rest of my family and all of my in-laws are all up-to-date (upside of being married to the youngest and last to have kids in that family).  My husband's not super keen on getting vaccinated, but he's not fighting me either.  He will be the primary caregiver for our kid, so it's really important to me that he be vaccinated again, whether or not he is up-to-date.

I'm also right there with you regarding body image.  Intellectually I know I am supposed to be gaining weight in pregnancy.  That same intellectual side is also fine with my weight gain so far.  The emotional other side of me, though ... I'm really having a tough time being ok with being back at my weight high-point after working so hard fo so long to get into shape.  I also know I have a very slow metabolism generally, so I think my anxiety about being able to take off the weight I'm gaining is playing into my body image concerns.
  • @YesOuiCan that's my favorite part so far too!! H loves to put stuff on my belly when he really gets going like a remote and watch it roll all over the place

  • @DungeonTrollMel Yessss, "dance parties in my belly!" The best.
@curiousfool1 Thank you for sharing! It helps to know others are going through the same thing.
  • 1) How far along are you?
    26 weeks!
    2) Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go?
I go sat for my blood work, glucose, tdap
    3) Cravings/symptoms?
All the back pain. And lack of sleep even with sleep aids
    4) Rants/raves/concerns?
Everyone bringing up vaccinations has me concerned. Not cuz I don't want people to get them..I'm pro vaccine. I'm not good with confrontation and me and my in-laws have some issues to begin with. I will be letting everyone know they need their tdap and flu but I'm just worried about their reactions/what they're gonna say to me. I still gotta talk to DH about him getting them and having him tell his family..I just know if I want people to do it im gonna have to be the one to tell them.

DH also didn't kno that hospital tours are pretty mandatory and why people go on them. He has to use one of his only days off (he gets one weekend a month off) to go on a tour and he's not happy. Hell be missing all the classes I'm taking due to work so he can suck it up.
    5) Anything else you want to add/ask?
    6) GTKY:  Favorite pregnancy moment so far.
Everything! I love it! I love my belly, I love my baby dances, I love the kicks. Even when I was throwing up - as much as I hated that I knew it meant baby was okay and I was happy.
