  • 1) How far along are you
    ? How big is baby?
    21 weeks. A baseball cap!

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings?
    Great. No cravings

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
Girl! And still only close friends notice

    4) Any appointments this week/last?
Last week I had my appt. with specialist. Great news! Specialist says I don't have placenta previa- just low lying. So hopefully it won't be an issue at our next check!
    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Rave- had our gender reveal pool party Sunday and it was a blast
    6) GTKY: Will your baby's nursery have a "theme" at all? (or if you already have a child, does their room have a theme?)
    Ballerina theme

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 21 weeks

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings? feeling pretty good. A little sore/swollen yesterday, but I think it was due to travel--I flew to Atlanta Monday morning for a conference, so i did a lot of walking, too, then flew home last night. Feeling ok today, but I think either the travel or the lack of sleep (got up at 3:30 am monday, did not sleep well Monday night, did not sleep well last night b/c DD was restless) may have opened me up to a cold. Feeling a bit stuffy and throat is a little scratchy

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing? We're keeping it a surprise til LO arrives. Yes, I'm showing, though it still depends on the outfit how obvious it is

    4) Any appointments this week/last? We had our anatomy scan last week. Baby looks great and very active, stretching out and moving around all over. Estimated weight is 13 oz--85th percentile! I'm not sure DD was that big at this point, though her head was measuring large throughout and they thought she was almost 9 lbs at the end (she was not. 7 lbs 9 oz, 19 3/4 in.)

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?

    6) GTKY: Will your baby's nursery have a "theme" at all? (or if you already have a child, does their room have a theme?) DD's room does not really have a theme. We hung up a Princess and the Frog poster, a poster of Monet's waterlilies (that was mine from college), some quotes, a dreamcatcher and some other stuff from DH's Native American tribe, and DH's parents sent a bear illustration that had been on his wall growing up and some picture-book related stamps that were framed (DH's mom collects stamps), so it's kind of a hodgepodge. We kept all of her sheets and changing pads gender neutral so we could reuse. I have some Lion King prints that came with the 10-year anniversary DVD release (I think), so those will probably go up in LO's room and we just bought some curtains for the window. I also have another print that involves an elephant, and some of DD's changing pad covers have monkeys and giraffes on them, so it may be somewhat of an animal theme. I wanted Dh to move some of the furniture out of that room while his dad was here to help, but I don't think they did (I was gone the past 2 days), so I guess he will have to ask one of the neighbors for help. I can't really start decorating and organizing until we get it cleared out.

  • Ya'll, I am so sorry. I have been the worst Bumper ever. I fell off the map for awhile trying to deal with everything. Long story as short as I can make it, I had to have emergency surgery at 19 weeks to remove a mature terratoma off my left ovary. My entire pregnancy, I had what we thought were two large cysts on my ovary, but after going to the ER a few times for pain and suspected torsion, my doctor decided we didn't have a choice, and surgery was scheduled about 12 hours after I checked into the hospital. Everything went great, and I'm actually in less pain now than I was prior to surgery. Tomorrow is 3 full weeks post op and so far, everything has gone flawlessly. My doctor was able to leave the ovary for now to reduce the trauma, but we will be removing it during my C-section in December. (I have to have a C for medical reasons.) It's not really an excuse for stepping away, but with everything going on, I have just not had time to keep up. I'm sorry and I will do better!

    1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 22 weeks! Spaghetti Squash.

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings? Honestly, a jumble of everything. Nervous that something is still going to go wrong, Excitement that we made it this far and how great Baby has done. Terrified that I'm going to be an awful mother. Depressed that pregnancy has been such a crappy time and guilty that I'm not enjoying it more after everything that it took to get here.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
Boy, and oh yes! My belly is definitely getting rounder and sticking out more. He's also started kicking!

    4) Any appointments this week/last? Next appointment is the 22nd.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? Ya'll, husbands. They go through so much too, and everyone is always focusing on me. When I was in the hospital, my poor H had to go home every morning and night to take care of our dogs, while working remotely during a crisis at his office, while taking care of me and doing everything for me when I couldn't even get out of bed on my own. We've definitely been through the ringer with my medical crap, but every time, he steps up and is just amazing. I just wish he got more attention and care for it too.

    6) GTKY: Will your baby's nursery have a "theme" at all? (or if you already have a child, does their room have a theme?) No theme. I'm sure there will be a little of everything. Cars, dinosaurs, machines, animals, etc.

    1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 21 weeks today!

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings? I feel fine, still getting frequent headaches but I know that I need to up my water intake so I'm working on it. No really cravings.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
Baby is a girl - I am showing but it's still not really noticeable unless I want it to be if that makes sense.

    4) Any appointments this week/last? The anatomy scan was on Friday, it was a level 2 with the MFM and everything went great so that was such a relief. I think DH was holding out hope that somehow the Panorama results were wrong, but the scan confirmed baby is indeed a little girl.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? Long vent warning - My 30th birthday is this month. Months ago, I gave DH a few ideas of places we can go (we went to Vegas for his - a trip I planned and he didn't have to lift a finger for AND I work for a corporate travel agency so I get to fly super cheap) and things I'd like to do. I told him that the best gift would not having to plan this trip and for him to do it all. I gave him dates that work best with my work schedule. Guess who hasn't done a thing and blocked off a weekend that was not in the dates I gave? UGH I am just so annoyed. In addition to just doing something nice for my golden birthday, I am growing a fucking human FFS so just DO IT. So of course now the trip has evolved to a trip "home" (we live OOT from where our family is) which I do all of the time - I will literally be in town the weekend before for a wedding. I coordinated going to a baseball game with family and I am in charge of buying all of those tickets and then of course collecting those funds from 5 different parties, I have decided where we are going to go to eat and where we are going to get a hotel one of the nights. I arranged child care for one of the days. So, I've decided I am going to TREAT YOSELF and buy a new car. My brother is a mechanic and gets a friends and family discount at not only the dealership he works at, but it's an auto group and they have like 7 in the area so I have a lot of different manufacture options. Anyway so now our child-free day is going to be a car shopping day and I am going to get a new car (it's needed and we've talked about it a bit before, so not a spoiled brat and frivolous purchase by any means). Yay happy 30th to me.

    6) GTKY: Will your baby's nursery have a "theme" at all? (or if you already have a child, does their room have a theme?) DS' room is a nautical theme. For this LO, I think she'll end up in our room longer than DS did and we will just hold off on any kind of nursery for her until after we (theoretically) move mid-next year.

ETA - P&Ging for now; I have a work shower for my work nemesis that I am somehow in charge of so I'll be back to respond to everyone in a bit!

  • @txmomma16 omg!! I'm so glad everything went well during surgery and that you're in less pain. Take care of yourself :)
@flowerpower5838 ah sorry about the vaca plans but yay! new car!

    1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 23 weeks, a grapefruit

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings? feeling really great. Appetite has increased big time and I'm hungry more frequently. I've been eating more for sure and drinking way more water than normal too (and of course peeing constantly)

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
It's a girl, and yes showing. Although what's weird is that when I'm wearing my normal clothes (whatever fits, so maybe like a full skirt or something), it's sort of hard to tell. When I wear maternity clothes though, it's SUPER obvious and actually makes me look further along than I am I think.

    4) Any appointments this week/last? Had a little check-up yesterday afternoon where we heard baby's heartbeat and my stomach was measured. I asked my doc about weight gain since I put on 5 lbs since my last appt 4 weeks ago and she said I was on the right track and perfectly normal, which put me at ease since I feel like I've been eating everything. Next appt is the glucose test in early Sept which is nuts because that will be almost at the end of my second trimester!

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? My in-laws are so sweet but also such pains in the butt. They're 70 and retired, so sometimes they have way too much time on their hands. For example they'll arrive 30 mins early to a party, which is annoying when you're the host, or they'll ask us to Christmas dinner in September, just to beat my family to the punch. Annoying stuff like that. Anyway, my FIL called DH last night to ask him where we registered because they want first dibs of the presents. DH told him he'd talk to me about it and would let him know when the registry is ready. I told DH that it was a little too early to be completely registered/giving out registry info to people, and that usually people are informed once shower invitations go out, which for me won't be until early October, two months from now. But my FIL is one to bring up the same damn subject over and over again until it's resolved, so the best thing to do is to just give him what he wants. And then right after DH hung up with his father, my MIL texted me asking me about registry info. I know this won't go away and they'll continue to hound us until we give them the info, so I finished up the registry last night and wasn't really able to relax and unwind as I had wanted to. Then I texted my MIL and told her the registry was done and public. Trust me, I'm appreciative of the fact that they can't wait to buy us stuff, but the whole impatient nagging part wasn't necessary. Not to sound ungrateful but I checked my registries this morning and nothing is bought, so I'm just kind of annoyed at the fact that they both nagged the two of us for the registry info and then didn't really do anything with it.

    6) GTKY: Will your baby's nursery have a "theme" at all? (or if you already have a child, does their room have a theme?) Bunnies. The paint color of the room is lavender, the furniture is white, and then we'll have gray, white, lavender, and pink accents.

  • @balletnerd great news about your placenta!!
@cait5413 awesome that your AS went well!
@txmomma16 Ummm I'm pretty sure emergency surgery is the perfect REASON to take a break from online forums where you don't *actually* know anyone! So glad it went well and you're feeling better!
@flowerpower5838 Your birthday sounds like my mothers day was except way more. DH asked what I wanted to do for mothers day and I said "I just don't want to have to make any decisions".... So I get up and the first thing he asks me "So what are we doing today?".... He planned nothing.

    1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
    22 Weeks, coconut
    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings?
Overall pretty well. Still on my butter+peanut butter+jam on toast kick, though I've upgraded to homemade sourdough bread!
    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
Girl & Yes. Though it's still pretty easy to hide if I want to
    4) Any appointments this week/last?
    Just left the midwife.
    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Still having the feelings about baby being a girl, which kinda got dredged up from talking to the midwife about it today. I think I am going to make an appointment with a counselor or therapist, because it is to unfair to her that I feel this way. I hate that I do, but every time someone asks if it's a boy or girl, and I say girl, they practically do cartwheels and it reminds me how un-excited I am. I think if everyone had more of a neutral reaction I would be more okay with it, but I just can't match the level of excitement everyone around me seems to have, and it's making me feel shitty.
    6) GTKY: Will your baby's nursery have a "theme" at all? (or if you already have a child, does their room have a theme?
No idea about this one yet, but DS's room is woodland with pictures of moose, bears, deer and big horned sheep.

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 23 weeks! baby is a grapefruit :)

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings? Still tired. Still missing sleep. Cravings have slowed down and now I just want flavored Polar Seltzer all day every day.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
Another baby girl and you can't miss her! I feel giant already (and have already had people say to me "oh wow, you've still got 17/18 weeks left? {insert middle finger emoji here})

    4) Any appointments this week/last? Monthly appt on Friday morning but I'm hoping for more my insight into my placenta previa diagnosis to ease my anxiety.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? DD has hit the terrible twos at 19 months. Screeching/screaming, throwing tantrums and fits. Everything is NO! (screaming in the highest octive possible) and the smallest thing will result in her throwing herself on the floor and crying. Totally over it.

    6) GTKY: Will your baby's nursery have a "theme" at all? (or if you already have a child, does their room have a theme?) DD's room kind of has a zoo animal theme, maybe? Shes got some decals on her walls. But not much else really. We painted it green because that's my favorite color. And poor baby, she will share a room with us for a bit, then her crib will be in the spare room until she is old enough to share a room with DD1 #secondchildprobs  :D

    Happy Wednesday ladies!!! <3
  • @SoxGirl982 ugh those comments are the worst! People will notice my bump and ask "When you are due again?" like as if I'm going to say "today!" instead of "early December!"

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 22 weeks, coconut

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings?  Great, except my thigh, right above my knee is numb now.  OB said that it could be a pinched nerve, can't wait for the chiropractor on Sat to see if he can fix this.  My biggest craving is milk.  I seriously go through a gallon every other day.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?  Boy.  Yup, you can't miss it.

    4) Any appointments this week/last?  OB this past Monday.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?

    6) GTKY: Will your baby's nursery have a "theme" at all? (or if you already have a child, does their room have a theme?)  Sports.  We are big New England Patriots and New York Yankees fans, so we are going to do one navy accent wall that the crib will be on and the other 3 will be silver.

  • @txmomma16 hope you're feeling better after surgery. That is scary!

    1) How far along are you
    ? How big is baby?
    23 weeks - a Grapefruit

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings?
I feel pretty good overall. Exhaustion easily sets in but other than that, nothing to complain about this week. Craving all the sugar.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
    Boy - yes!

    4) Any appointments this week/last?
    No

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
    None

    6) GTKY: Will your baby's nursery have a "theme" at all? (or if you already have a child, does their room have a theme?)
DD1 - pink ballerina theme, now she has a 'big girl room' which has no theme, it's really cute though and she helped decorate. One wall is teal with big golden polka dots, and then she has some ballet art around on the walls and a little reading nook.
DD2 - her accent color was purple to differentiate fro big sis. No real theme
This baby - will have an explorer theme, his accent color is Navy

  • Good to "see" you again @txmomma16! Glad you are feeling better post-surgery. That must have been so scary.

@flowerpower5838 Sorry you had to plan your own birthday! A few years ago, DH wanted to go to Japan (he had been before, but I hadn't). I told him, fine, but you're planning it. (i'm the one who usually plans trips, of course). He got stressed out/didn't want to do it and we ended up using a travel agency to plan us a trip to Costa Rica instead! It was a great trip, but I just think it is funny the one trip he was supposed to take charge of planning, a travel agent did it for him!

@holzie-2 DH is a big Pats fan, too. DD has Patriots onesies and pacis thanks to family and friends on that side--but she also has Saints gear from my side

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
23 weeks - grapefruit or bunch of grapes

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings?
I'm feeling ok. I've sort of learned my limits regarding activity. Although right now I'm hungry and I can't be bothered to get up off the couch. Lol

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
It's a girl. I'm not showing because the top part of my stomach still sticks out above the bottom "roll," even though the lower part is definitely bigger than before. People are surprised when I tell them how far along I am. They try to hide it. I wore an empire waist dress to my first day back at work last week (teacher), and I didn't have to explain anything to anyone. I always look pregnant in empire waist, that's why I don't wear it.

    4) Any appointments this week/last?
    Not until the 21st

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
See above about being plus size and not showing

    6) GTKY: Will your baby's nursery have a "theme" at all? (or if you already have a child, does their room have a theme)?
Haha - DS's theme is "how many toys can I pack into one room and never sleep on the bed because I'm with mom and dad"

DD will not have a theme per say, but I am loving this color scheme:

    May Siggy Challenge: TV mom

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
21 weeks, size of a bottle of sriracha

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings?
Still easily tired. extremely sore low back, especially after walking more than 30 minutes or long car rides. Headaches are still fairly frequent. No cravings but really hungry, the weight is definitely creeping up on me now lol!

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
Boy!! Oh yes! You can't miss it.

    4) Any appointments this week/last?
Last week I had my US. Next Tuesday I have another as the baby is turned backwards and they want to see his face, my GP booked that US. My high risk OB also booked an US Aug. 25 b/c the two offices don't talk to each other.. ughhhh... i'm hoping i can keep the one for next Tuesday as my mom was going to come with me.. we'll see..

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
So many rants this week. I'll try to keep it short. I'll start with a rave - my gender reveal party went extremely well! it was so much fun. I'm glad we did it.

I started typing my story, but it's far too long and I wouldn't expect anyone to read all the details.. I feel like it's my wedding all over again - people getting offended over decisions that aren't theirs to make. SIL offered and gave me her crib - after the crib traveled 4 hours to get to me, she tells me she's misplaced the screws for it.. Like seriously? why are you wasting my time? I have no intention of using a crib I don't have the pieces for.

This same SIL is throwing a tantrum b/c she wasn't invited to the gender reveal (we did it just for our parents), she lives 4 hours away so it would be a trek to have a piece of cake.. She hasn't spoken to me in 2 years, I wasn't invited to her kid's bday party a month ago, but all of a sudden the tables are turned and that gives her a license to be upset.

I told my mom I'm considering a doula and she immediately went on the defence, apparently she can answer all my questions and her and my MIL can provide me with all the support I could ever want.. She says she's not offended, but it definitely came across like she was and I'm not in the slightest bit surprised. This is exactly why I don't want her with me when I go into labour.. b/c she's going to annoy me, but I get the excitement on her end.

    6) GTKY: Will your baby's nursery have a "theme" at all? (or if you already have a child, does their room have a theme?)
I'm doing an Alice in Wonderland theme. I have murals painted on the wall, my other SIL and her bf are artists so they're helping me paint and they are doing a wonderful job. I think the crib sheets will be standard colours, may red from the queen or blue from Alice's dress.. I'm not worried about a comforter 'cause you can't use them anyway..

I've read all the replies. I won't respond to each one, but I made a registry on June 30. I'm so glad I did, now that I can't really walk or enjoy standing, I'm super glad that's off the list. I've had a few people ask about it so I've given it out on request and someone already bought something off it! I'm super excited about that!
  • dilbert890 I can't wait to see pictures! I consider myself "crafty" and I think I have a good eye for design, but I don't have an artistic bone in my body. A hand-painted mural would be so cool!

lijuan09 Right there with you on the not looking pregnant to others even though I can tell sentiment. It's extra hard because I'm technically the same weight in this pregnancy at the same point I was in my last, but I haven't really gained this time (I started about 20 pounds heavier). I've got a little bit of that b-belly thing going on and I hate it. I felt so beautiful during DS' pregnancy and I just feel so blah this time. Hugs! We'll "pop" soon enough hopefully.

cait5413 Ha! It seems to be a running trend that some of our DH's just aren't naturally born planners. I just had some friends come back from an extended Asian vacation - I'd LOVE to go to Japan one day!

SoxGirl982 Oh man I am DREADING this. DS has learned the art of tantruming, but has just started to explore screaming at the highest of decibels. This, too shall pas...right?!?!

kvacmak I am right there with you on having a lackluster reaction to others about my own pregnancy. I've never been a SUPER openly emotional person though so I'm trying to just chalk to up to exhaustion and being scared AF to add a second to our shit show lol. But I am definitely dealing with some surprise feelings on having a girl, too. I am excited, I just am having a hard time picturing it I guess. Let me know if you do decide to speak to someone or if you need to chat with someone in a similar boat!

@peachy13 Oh girl I get you with the inlaw thing. My MIL is SOOOO nice and generous, so I feel bad about complaining about her. But the "strings" that sometimes come along with the generousity and the over-bearing nature is just HARD sometimes. Thankfully, we're about 4 hours from our parents now (distance really does make the heart grow fonder), but we're trying to plan an eventual move back home so I am interested to see how that goes...

txmomma16 I am so glad everything went well for you! And that you have such a supportive DH - it really makes all the difference to have someone that is willing to go above and beyond.

  • @dilbert890 your family sounds like mine... frustrating. For the record I am SO glad my mom wasn't there for DS's labor and birth... that would have been a nightmare!

@flowerpower5838 thanks for the solidarity points. It does make me feel a bit better to know I'm not alone in my feelings.

  • Here's a couple of photos! I know adding the spoiler will help with loading the page, I'm sorry I don't know how..

Still debating the doula. The one I met this week was amazing. Very qualified but she's thinking about vacation right before my due date. Given that im high risk i anticipate needing her then. Her partner is much less qualified. At the end of the day... it's a $900 bill and I just don't know if I can or want to justify it. I'm sure i can pick family that can be equally supportive, its just my mom which gets super offended/defensive. She acted offended when I said I wasn't meeting these people, apparently she can answer all my questions, etc.

  • 1) How far along are you
    ? How big is baby?
    20
    weeks, a banana?!

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings? Just tired. I have a hypothyroid that I'm concerned is not being well managed on my current dosage, plus a 2 and 4 year old, plus work. Also been very achy. Round ligament pain, sore hips/lower back. Need to get back to my chiropractor for some help.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
It's a girl! But I am the ONLY one who knows. We were team green with my others (DD and DS) and I just felt like knowing, but my DH did not so I'm keeping it to myself.

    4) Any appointments this week/last?
Regular checkup Thursday. All is well in utero!

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Just the thyroid issue. I am so short on energy I don't know how I make it through some days.

    6) GTKY: Will your baby's nursery have a "theme" at all? (or if you already have a child, does their room have a theme?)
DD is just girly, pale green walls with pink and purple accents/art. DS is sort of nautical, blue grey walls with a sailboat and whale paintings and navy curtains. I have aspirations of more artwork or accessories but I never get around to painting or buying what I think of. This baby will be in our room for a bit and then I'm
not it's if she'll share with big sis or have her own room, which we'll have to renovate. We'll see how the mood strikes me when design time comes!

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 23 and a half weeks (because I'm so late in posting.  My laptop died so I have to wait for DH not to be on the computer!)

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings?  Really tired.  Anxious.  It's been 3 and a half weeks since my last appt so I'm driving myself insane with all that could have gone wrong in that time.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
Yup.  Boy.  Not as much as I'd like.  I just feel fat mostly.

    4) Any appointments this week/last?  This Thursday.  LO wouldn't turn right at the ultrasound last month so we get another one.  Yay!

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? I dreamed last night that I got to the hospital without a baby name and then the doctor hit on me so I threw him out so I was going to have to have the baby without any medical help.  Holy major anxiety dream.

    6) GTKY: Will your baby's nursery have a "theme" at all? (or if you already have a child, does their room have a theme?)  My daughter has a purple fairy themed room.  I would love a Spiderman theme for DS (I love the reds and blues) but I'm not sure I can get DH to buy in.  We're more focused on getting all the dog's stuff out of that room and scrubbing it down!
