I've been waiting for LO's movements to be strong enough for DH to feel them through my belly and yesterday was the day! When DH finally managed to leave his hand in place long enough to feel the little pops, he was so excited about it that he spent several minutes describing to me what it felt like. All I could think was, 'Dude, I know, I can feel it from the inside and the outside.' I managed to keep my mouth shut and let him have his moment. He's so sweet and excited.
Our AC got installed yesterday and so I'm facing Wednesday with the first legit full night of sleep I've had in weeks and it is pretty amazing. DH & I also managed to self-install our new thermostat without any techie/geek fights, which is some sort of minor miracle.
@Amber_Waves aw that's so exciting! DH can't feel the kicks yet I'm so excited for when he can!
DH and I assembled the crib over the weekend which was a bit more stressful than I had imagined. DH put a few pieces in the wrong spot, the Allen wrench sucked, etc. I told DH that he's really a dad now getting frustrated while putting something together, and he agreed, so that was nice. We bought a changing table too but we were pretty pooped from putting the crib together that we skipped the table and said we'd do it another time, so I was really happy and surprised to come home from work yesterday to find that DH had assembled the changing table on his own! It looks great in the nursery and I'm so excited to get more stuff in there.

@Amber_Waves That's so exciting! I thought I was feeling strong enough kicks the other night for DH to feel, and he said he "might" have felt something near this thumb, but I'm dying for the real deal. He gets so excited just hearing me say I can feel the baby moving.
@kyrwyn A/C for the win, glad you got a good night of sleep! And a huge high-five for installing the thermostat without a fight, I know exactly what you mean about that being a minor miracle.
My Wednesday is winning for two reasons. 1.) The landscapers showed up bright and early this morning to tackle the ridiculously large job of taming my overgrown hedges. I watched them via my security camera throughout the morning (like a creep, I know), and they did a fantastic job. And 2.) everything tastes AMAZING to me today. Even my usual seltzer is the most delicious beverage on the planet right now. I don't know where this is coming from or how long it will last, but I'm loving it.
@peachy13 Assembling furniture with allen wrenches brings back memories of IKEA furniture past... and the epic frustration arguments it spawned.
Helpful thing I learned: torx bits for electronic screwdrivers or drills will usually fit metric hex well enough for assembly (if you happen to be building IKEA furniture with their questionable allen keys, and a lot of it at once, it can be a sanity saver).
@kyrwyn thanks! I actually wish we had been using one of those Ikea allen keys, but this was from Babies R Us and they had their own special key which was a piece of garbage. I tried using an Ikea one but it was too big.

@peachy13 Bummer. Babies R Us stuff is probably not metric, and then I have no idea if torx would have helped. It's great that your DH tackled the next assembly project on his own, so you were spared the wrath of the crappy tools. @djd0404 I hope your Wednesday continues with its awesomeness. I've had those "Everything is delicious" days and they are awesome payback for the "everything tastes like paste" days from my first tri.
can I also do a WTF to my coworkers today? my coworker who I share a cubicle wall with does not understand the concept of her cell phone being on silent/vibrate. I hear every text going out and coming in. Then on the opposite end of the spectrum, my other neighbor whispers when someone is talking to her in person or on the phone, so to not disturb people. But for some reason, the whispering noise is actually really irritating to me, like I'd rather she just be talking in a normal voice but quietly. I think I'm just being irritable but everything at work is annoying right now.

My WTF is that I keep thinking it's freaking Thursday and I already had to ask someone to reschedule a meeting for tomorrow because when I gave them my availability it was for Friday. I need to get my shit together!
So fun that so many husbands are starting to feel kicks! I think mine is a little scared of it haha. He always yanks his hand away super fast when he feels the baby!
I bitch a lot about my work, but I think today takes the cake. I found out that the current pregnant employees will be excluded from the new maternity policy. The owner's wife (who is the CTO), put a one year waiting period for anyone who wants to use it. Since this is a start-up, nobody has been here a year. What's even more unbelievable, is that the only reason I became a full-time employee is become the CTO told me she wanted me to take part in the new policy she was creating. I was paid more as a contractor and it was my preference to remain on contract, but I took the pay cut for the promise of benefits. Now to find out I am being written out of the plan they created.....I am beside myself.
Momma to Amelia Marie (7/14) and Austin Samuel (11/17). Adding baby (girl) #3 on 7/21
@peachy13 I've found that nearby whispering is way more disruptive than low-talking. My brain ends up interpreting the conversation as some juicy secret and straining to listen (even when I know it's not about anything good), rather than just being able to tune it out. Your other neighbor sounds like a PITA. Sorry, dude.
@ameliabedelia-2 I would seriously cut someone. Did you have the benefits in writing anywhere when you signed on initially with the pay cut? I wish I knew lawyer-y stuff to be able to help. Hope someone can figure out a way to fix this for you.
My win today is that my Amazon box FINALLY came and I got the hedgehog swaddle!!! Woooooo!!!
@ameliabedelia-2 WTFFFFFFF?! That is absolute BS, I would be furious!! I hope you can fight that rule, especially since you took a paycut specifically for the benefit. NOT cool.
@ameliabedelia-2 Does your work being a start up mean you have more access to general counsel, like it does at my start up? I'd be in HR's office in a hot minute if I had any corroborating evidence of the previous offer and asking to talk to general counsel if that didn't go well. (I've already taken this route once this summer.)
@ameliabedelia-2, what's the current policy and what's the new policy? I also would be livid. Did she know you were pregnant when you took the full-time?
@ameliabedelia-2 I am so sorry you're having to go through this. That completely sucks, and I'm sorry.
I just got back from my anatomy scan (20 weeks + 6), and everything looked perfect! I've been such a worrier this pregnancy, and it's such a relief to know that baby girl is healthy and growing in there. Also, the elective ultrasound I had at 16 weeks to find out the sex was correct- she's definitely a girl! So happy.
Thanks for sharing in my fury everyone:) So right now there isn't a policy, there were only 19 people when I joined. Since then, we have grown to 65. The owners knew I was pregnant when I converted. I was only 8 weeks, but I felt like I wanted to be honest about my pregnancy rather than hide it from them and have them be upset after the fact. I also wanted to tell them so I could explain why being a contractor would be in my best interest (so I could save extra money for maternity leave). That is when the CTO told me not to worry, and that converting would actually be in my best interest because she would like for me to help write/implement a policy for everyone going forward. I worked on the outline for it and shared that with our newly hired HR manager. She finished it and submitted it yesterday and was told to add a 1-year waiting policy and that current employees would not be grandfathered in.
Unfortunately, I don't have anything in writing promising me this benefit as it was a conversation. I never thought I would need something in writing, guess I am a naive moron

i was was driving home from the grocery store (2 min drive) and I HAD to go #2. I made it to the house...but not the restroom.... yuck! Thank goodness I was at my house alone... That's a new symptom. No issues before that or after yet. So random. WTF? Hahaha

@ameliabedelia-2 I am also sharing in your fury! Is there any way you can go back to being a contractor at your original salary? I would definitely complain!
@peachy13 I feel your pain on bad cube neighbors! Mine holds teleconferences in his open cube, with speaker phone on while he YELLS the entire time. We're moving offices next week, which sucks overall because it's a crappy location, but one plus is that I'll no longer have to sit near him.
My WTF is that I have developed a really nasty cough and cold that I'm mostly afraid to take medication for (I did take one dose of Tylenol last night). Honestly, colds in summer just shouldn't be allowed to exist! I think I got it from my stepdaughter while she was visiting and we were taking her to all sorts of kid friendly places, since in general children are little cesspools of disease.
WTF to TB for randomly signing me out three times today! I'm on a computer and I've never had to sign back in unless I close the window TB is open on. But winning is that I created a GIPHY account so I can start saving favorite gifs and hopefully up my gif game.
@ameliabedelia-2 it sounds like you could have a verbal employment contract. Written would be much better, but a verbal contract can be binding. You need to talk to them and say, "look, I took this job because you promised me I could write the new policy and it would apply to me. I helped write it, and I assume I will be grandfathered in and new employees will have the one year waiting period. "
