Bed Rest?

Anyone here on bed rest? If so what for?

I'm feeling BH contractions pretty badly, with Low PAPP-A, baby is low and every time I bend over I feel like he's going to break me, lots of pack pain. I work 9.5 hr days and am in the Military. There a little compassion for my pregnant self.

I was on bed rest with my first for 7 weeks for preterm labor. This time I was put on modified bed rest at 25+5. I was just told not to clean, carry heavy things and stand for long periods of time but they told me they would reevaluate me at my next appointment (14th at 28 weeks) to see if I can get off or if I need strict bed rest again for preterm labor.

  • @chrissyk85 No experience with bed rest, but I wanted to welcome you back since I haven't seen you here in a while! I hope things get better for you fast. Being stuck in bed during my MC sucked and there are days even now that I can't stand needing to rest for long periods of time.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

  • No bed rest here either. Sorry things are so rough.
  • @MKMandeville I know women who have hated BR, I go in today for an appointment I'm going to talk with my OB about it. I dont want to look like I'm fishing for an "easy way out" I'm just SO uncomfortable and with everything I'm experiencing I feel very not myself and off.
  • @NYTino24 thank you! I'm just so uncomfortable. It's making me crazy. This pregnancy is SO different for me.
  • I had bad SPD that felt like I was being split, it got better this week so I can walk almost normal. My hips are still a little funky. I wore a brace.
  • @chrissyk85 I will say this. Bed rest is HARD but it got us to 37 weeks which put us at early term with our daughter. I do suggest talking to your doctor generally they don't put you in bed rest unless it's absolutely needed as it really won't stop anything that is meant to happen or normal pregnancy discomfort but they are typically more than happy to write you a doctors note for certain restrictions.
  • Wow @chrissyk85 I am so sorry I didn't realize what low Papp-a was and looking back my previous comment looks insensitive but that wasn't meant that way. I more meant if you were to go into premature labor bed rest isn't the best option to stop it my doctor actually said they try to do progesterone shots instead.

I hope your doctor was to give you more peace of mind today.
  • @MKMandeville oh no worries!!! I didn't take it at all in a bad way! I went and it was the NP. She seemed rushed, and didn't listen to my concerns at all. Didn't even ask if I had questions or concerns which she typically does. I'm starting to go back every 2 weeks, so I plan on calling tomorrow to see if the Dr will call me or asking specifically for the Dr to be at the next apt,  and not the NP. I just generally do not feel like something is right. It's a gut feeling... Baby sounded good and I am assuming I measured okay because she didn't say anything...but she didn't check anything else...
  • @chrissyk85 sorry this sounds hard and stressful but I hope it helps.
  • Aww I'm sorry the NP didn't listen to your concerns @chrissyk85 that is so frustrating. I hope you are able to get through to your doctor today and get your questions answered two weeks is a long time to wait especially if you are having some anxiety about your pregnancy.
