Re: Monday Bitchfest/Magnificent Monday 8/7

  • Monday can suck it today. I fell and skinned my knee BAD Saturday. It hurts to walk or bend it. It's also making it hard for me to sleep because it hurts so much. It's making me a huge grump today, plus its super gloomy outside.

  • My dogs are at the vet all day for their dental cleaning. I'm super anxious about it because they have to be put under. This is the first time we've had to do that. Also, it's like $600 per dog, and that's if they don't need any extractions, etc. (One of our dogs will likely need extractions or root canals in her canines some day, though we'd go for extractions because they're cheaper and generally the canines are for defense and/or aesthetics only. Also I've always thought this vet overcharged, and DH did some research and it looks like they really do based on quotes for dental prices elsewhere...ugh.) Also, they guessed I could pick them up at 2, but now they said probably more like 5 or 6.

On top of that, on the way back from taking them to the vet, the SRS (airbag system) light came on in the car, so now I have to figure that out. August is my most appointment-filled month ever in my life and also happens to be filled with vacations for my coworkers so I have to try to work around that too, so I'm hoping tomorrow or Wednesday I can take the car in. And I'm really anxious that on top of the $1,200 vet bills, we're going to end up with a big bill to fix the car. YAY MONDAY.

I've got a lab schedule today that I had to gantt out in 5min increments and two associates who are vaguely familiar with the workflow to help me process a 3x load day.  I'd complain more, but I currently have 4 minutes to drink some water, check some emails, pee and get back on the bench. YAY MONDAY.

  • I woke up this morning and just couldn't fathom dealing with traffic on this rainy day...so I took a personal day. I wish I could say I've just been lounging around relaxing but HG has hit full force again so now it's turned into a sick day.  WTF Monday.

  • Today is the first day of school. DD and I had a good morning and we're headed to work/school when we got rear ended. We are fine, baby is fine, just working with the insurance company to replace my car seat.

  • @dkizz82 I'm glad you are all okay!  Hopefully the insurance claim is an easy/quick process.

@ktcakes87 sorry to hear about your knee. When I hurt my ankle a few weeks ago, I was super grumpy about it. Being hurt sucks enough with adding pregnancy on top of it.

AFM, my Monday is pretty uneventful. Old Navy had great clearance on kids/baby stuff today. I got my daughter a bunch of shirts and dresses for 25 bucks total.

  • @Marley629 aw sorry!
    @ktcakes87 feel better!
@MJDsquared woof to vet bills. SUCH a racket but obviously we would pay anything to make sure our doggies are okay.

I'm also feeling the heat with big purchases coming up. I'm in two big weddings next month and still have a lot to buy: dress alterations, new shoes, hotels for both nights for both weddings and the wedding gifts (split with DH), mani/pedi, spray tan, and little things like champagne and snacks for getting ready and whatnot. I am so happy to be in these weddings and under normal circumstances wouldn't mind the expenses but instead I'm feeling overwhelmed by the upcoming costs. What I really want to spend money on is the nursery and new maternity clothes, because right now there are like 3 things that fit me.

  • @Marley629 Oh no! So sorry. Sending hugs.  I have found that I tend to feel worse on days I am at home versus days I have to go in to the office/meetings/etc-- almost like my body knows it can act up without consequence when I'm just around the house. Ugh.
  • I just took over this new project at work last month that has to do with applying payment to invoices and balancing it, etc for this one account. Annnd then I went to unapply some funding from back in April and instead of unapplying it from one invoice, I unapplied it from all BUT that one invoice. And now I have to reapply it all (which means each invoice at a time...and takes quite a while). And I'm embarrassed because I had to ask my boss's boss (who used to do it) for his backup from April and also I'm sooo annoyed with myself for having to redo it. UGH UGH UGH. I could cry.

  • Guys... I effed up my lab prep (totally innocent mistake, but it makes everything we did today useless) and now we have to do this day of craziness again tomorrow. I'm going to spend the rest of the afternoon repeating all the prep work I did on Friday and feeling like an ass for wasting four people's mornings.

    YAY! /sarcasm.

  • Just found out my doula from DD's birth moved to London. Soooooo sad. I really want a doula, but now we have to interview them and it just seems like a lot to do. And there are SO. MANY. FRIGGIN. DOULAS. in my area, so it's going to be a lot of work narrowing them down.

  • I am so tired. DD did not sleep very well last night (I think adjusting to whole milk is hurting her tummy a little), and I had to get up at 3:30 am to get ready to head to the airport to fly out for a conference this morning. My taxi did not show, so I had to get DH up at 4am to take me to the airport, then my shuttle to my hotel was late, I was conferencing all day. Now I'm in my hotel and I feel like just going to sleep but I have dinner plans and a networking social tonight. Probably should have taken a nap, but I'm not a good napper!

At least I didn't have a car accident! And DD is playing with her grandparents all day so she probably doesn't miss me too much.

I'm too lazy to tag everyone but I'm sorry for the crappy Mondays!

I decided I deserved Subway (got a craving) because of how horribly this day is going so I got it on my lunch break (ETA: so that's my magnificent for the day). Though I shouldn't be spending money because it turns out one of my dogs did need two teeth extracted which was $1,000 more. WOO!

  • Sorry for the crappy Mondays!
Omg @MJDsquared I didn't even know that dogs had to get dental work done!
I had another doctors Appt this morning, which I dragged my husband too so we could go to ikea and west elm afterwards. I could barely make it through IKEA without almost passing out from hunger, which of course required my husband to get me some Swedish meatballs. West elm didn't have the chair I wanted to sit in for the nursery, and my husband was super cranky about how many time and I have to stop and eat/pee. Lol sorry babe!  He says he's never going shopping with me again. Haha. Fine by me!

  • Ugh, that's a lot of very rough Mondays. Creepy internet hugs all around, and no real contribution from me, other than it was my first day back after working from home all last week, so I was generally cranky. And I think I've already spend Friday's entire flipping paycheck on miscellaneous maternity/baby stuff, home supplies and groceries, so that's going to make for a rough couple weeks until the next payday.

  • Magnificent Monday here... DH surprised me with flowers to plant in our garden when he ran out to get a new hose... he's been so sweet lately!!
  • So glad it's bithfest Monday... great timing because my parents (from out of town) just boarded their flight back home.

The last 2 days involved a lot of crying by my mom and them stressing me out about when they can come visit after the baby is here. They seem to have high expectations about being around our little newborn right away even though my husband and I have been very clear about not wanting visitors at the hospital and having very limited visitors for the first month while my husband is on paternity leave. It's hard because I'm a FTM and have no idea how I will feel yet, and they are from out of town.

Now that they are gone I think I'm going to draft a follow-up email with this gem of an article I found online that may help: https://www.thespruce.com/grandparents-seeing-newborn-grandchild-1695782
  • @ashtynmo Fantastic article, thanks for sharing!!

  • So I placed an order with grub hub and it shows up a half hour later and the food is wrong.  I chase the driver down and tell her it's wrong, but she says I have to call grub hub.  I call them and after 15 mins the guy on the phone said he reordered my food and has a driver on the way to get it.  20 mins later I get an email from grub hub saying my order was cancelled! So I call grub hub again and they said that yes it was cancelled because they had no driver and I'd have to place a new order.  So I place a new order from a different place.  It finally shows up over 2 hours after my initial order and half of it was wrong.  I didn't have the energy to call and complain again, so I just ate it. Now I'm disappointed because it took so long and it wasn't even what I wanted.
  • @ashtynmo currently a STM. I ended up in a c-section and believe me although parents can be much it was worth it having my mom around. She cooked wholesome meals, cleaned, and helped wherever she could (especially when I needed a long shower). You might want to set your restrictions for historial and then reasses after you get home.

im going to call this one a magnificent Monday because Saturday was my bday and the husband spoiled me with a spa day and let me just relax the whole day.

bitchfest is DS daycare is closed all week and DH supposed to stay home all eeek with him but now he has tonsillitis so I'm dealing with two babies tonight lol

Like some of you,  today was all rainy and it super stormed last night which meant I got about 4 less hours of sleep. First DD woke up bc of the thunder and wanted to come sleep in our bed, then my 75 lb wussy dog had to sleep on my head/pillows, which made 2 adults, an 8yo, and 2 dogs in my bed. So today was just overall crappy bc no sleep.

ETA: just got a little magnificent bc DH is hulking out on vacuuming right now  :D
