Re: FTM Check-In : 8/7

  • 1) How far along are you?
    26 weeks!!

    2) Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go?
Had an appointment last week. It went great my PUPPs rash is fading ( Dr were happy and confused cause normally it doesn't go away til after baby is born). Hoping it keeps fading and goes away.

    3) Cravings/symptoms?
I have been eating a lot of fruit smoothies the last few weeks! So good!

    4) Rants/raves/concerns?
RAVE: I am on vacation this week and my mom and sister are coming to visit Wednesday to help paint the babies room.

    5) Anything else you want to add/ask?
    Nope

    6) GTKY: Most surprising part of pregnancy for you so far.
Everything.. I feel like I have learned so much about pregnancy and babies.

    2) Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go?  I have my next appointment and glucose test this coming Thursday.

    3) Cravings/symptoms? Still no real cravings other than fresh fruits and vegetables.  I made myself a little desert snack last night that was so good! Fresh local blueberries, chocolate chips, a scoop of peanut butter, and a dollop of coconut cream  Mmmm.   As far as symptoms, I continue to be plagued by excruciating nipple vasospasms.  Three times Friday night I was woken with Braxton Hicks contractions.

    4) Rants/raves/concerns? Having a kid is starting to feel real, making me really nervous about all the expenses and costs! I'm also concerned we have put off looking into child care too long.

    5) Anything else you want to add/ask?

    6) GTKY: Most surprising part of pregnancy for you so far.  A lot of the initial surprise was all of the additional dietary restrictions beyond the obvious no alcohol/raw fish.  I have also been surprised by the weekly shifting in day-to-day symptoms.  It really does change week to week!

    2) Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go?
Just a quick check up last week. All is well. Had to set up my rhogam shot. Not looking forward to going back to the hospital L&D because of the experience last time.

    3) Cravings/symptoms? just eating a ton

    4) Rants/raves/concerns?
We are picking up the crib today and going to IKEA to look at dressers.

    5) Anything else you want to add/ask? nope

    6) GTKY: Most surprising part of pregnancy for you so far.

This pregnancy has been easier than my first. I am surprised at how many questions I get when people ask if this is my first and I tell them it's my rainbow baby. Like, I already hinted that maybe it's a painful question, maybe leave it alone...?
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

  • @NYTino24 I HATE that question. People get uncomfortable if you answer honestly and it feels like a discredit to just say yes

    @curiousfool1 that snack sounds amazing

    1. 23+5

    2. We surprised my parents when they were in town this weekend with an elective ultrasound but he was stubborn so we didn't get any good 3D pictures. They loved getting to see him tho, my dad had never seen any scans before

    3. Brownies and bologna sandwiches but I am avoiding both.

    4. We got the nursery painted and crib ordered while my parents were here. My mom and I shopped for lots of decor so slowly making progress.

    5. Not off the top of my head

    6. I surprisingly feel much better than I expected to. I think it's helping me enjoy being pregnant way more than I thought I would

    2) Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? 24 week appt last Friday.  Things are going well.

    3) Cravings/symptoms? still get nausea and heartburn.   Also Having more back pain.  No cravings but some days I just want to eat all the food.

    4) Rants/raves/concerns? I was having some brown spotting but I think it was due to having sex but still did not help my anxiety.  My rave is that I get to go home to Iowa this weekend and Im so excited.  A little worried about being uncomfortable on a long car trip (9+ hours) but get to see my Grandma and my niece and nephew and so many others that it is totally worth it.

    5) Anything else you want to add/ask? not at the moment.

    6) GTKY: Most surprising part of pregnancy for you so far. I have been surprised how hard it has been.   I guess all the pregnant ladies I have been around make it look so easy lol.  I haven't loved being pregnant but I know it will be all worth it in the end  :)
  • @NYTino24 my husband and I went to IKEA to look at dressers as well.  We didn't really find anything that fit our space.  Hopefully you have more luck.
@curiousfool1 I have had the vasospasms as well.   It has been rough and makes me worried about breast feeding.   And I'm right there with you about the finances and child care.  It definitely feels overwhelming.   I just keep telling myself we will figure it all out.
  • 1) How far along are you? 26w 4d
    2) Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? Nope.
    3) Cravings/symptoms? Achy hips and sore lower back
    4) Rants/raves/concerns? Ranting about hormones and how they have decided to make me sad and cranky this week, mostly out of jealousy because DH has two fun weekend party trips with friends planned before baby and I feel both left out and like I'll never get a carefree party weekend again, somehow that hit me hard this week (and I like to blame hormones).
    5) Anything else you want to add/ask?

    How uncomfortable it is!

    How did it go?
Last week I had my GTT. Was better than the first I think my anxiety management is getting better with the hypno work I'm doing . I'm getting much better at relaxing and maintaining control emotionally and keeping my pulse calm

I also had a my midwife check up . They go quick and she's pretty happy with our progress . Booked my immunisation for next appointment

    3) Cravings/symptoms?
This week . Leg cramps . But I'm finishing an order for 2 flower girl dresses and there's a lot of either sitting at machines or hand finishing or standing on my feet at the cutting table on hard floor and getting to bed late .  So I've been on my legs a lot and they have slight swelling at night and I wake with cramps .
Totally new to me as I'd never had a calf cramp before I was pregnant .
I'm using them as an opportunity to control my pain response to spontaneous spasm and practice relaxing through ..

Other than that my hips feel like they are coming apart and because of all the poor posture I've had from sewing it's bad this week . My sacrum  grindes on my right side . Where I have piraformus issues anyway so the back of my right hip is bugging me an bit.

    4) Rants/raves/concerns?
Looking forward to furnishing our house (got the keys on Wednesday )
    Including the baby room
Once this project is finished I have only a baby blanket for a shower this weekend ( close family friend , not common to have them here )
A painting for my FILs  70th  in Oct
And I'm good to just focus on us and our stuff which is nice because we have the excitement of our first house and first baby just all on top of each other and I'm pretty overwhelmed.  We haven't bought anything much for either yet and are getting low on time
    5) Anything else you want to add/ask?
    6) GTKY: Most surprising part of pregnancy for you so far.

Apart from after 6 years and letting it go actually finding out in the first place I was pregnant.. having  to adjust and cope with my changing body image . One side of me is really practical and logical and confident and the other is struggling with body issues I've never had before and I'm disappointed in myself for being so effected . I just about burst into tears shopping g for clothes it's rediculous and I never imagined I'd be this way.

  • @angkay711 We never made it there. MIL showed DH two 40 year old dressers that I don't really like and he pretty much said yes without us talking about it. We can paint them up, but I don't think she was to keen on giving us both. She wanted to keep one in an empty bedroom that no one will sleep in, I guess? Oh, and she may have broken the side of the crib. I will lose it if we end up with two crappy dressers and a broken crib.

  • 1) How far along are you? 24+4
    2) Any appointments this week or last week? Yes, had my 24 week check-up yesterday, measurements and heartbeat were good.
    3) Cravings/symptoms? Back pain, and really uncomfortable pressure on my belly when I do pretty much any cardio (even just walking). My midwife recommended a belly belt, so I've ordered one and am hoping it will help.
    4) Rants/raves/concerns? My husband officially turned our guest room into a nursery over the weekend—took apart the bed, and put together the crib and glider. And I got a bunch of hand-me-down clothes washed and organized. Feels so good to see things starting to come together!
    5) Anything else you want to add/ask? I said this on another thread yesterday, but please excuse me if you don't recognize me! I participated on the board more my first trimester and am trying to get back into it now.
    6) GTKY: Most surprising part of pregnancy for you so far. Gosh, I don't know if I can pick just one. One of them is definitely how uncomfortable it is (like @angkay711 and @ames011said!). While I was going through infertility, I imagined I wouldn't complain about pregnancy at all. Boy was I wrong... I feel like I'm not very good at being pregnant. The other thing is how quickly it's going by. I feel like I was just 12 weeks, and suddenly the third trimester is just around the corner!
  • 1) How far along are you?
    25w3d
    2) Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go?
    Nope
    3) Cravings/symptoms?
No cravings, just occasional heartburn, and my back is starting to hurt a little.
    4) Rants/raves/concerns?
We are making progress on the nursery! Had mt shower this weekend, so I got to put together the smaller things we got, now just to assemble the crib!
    5) Anything else you want to add/ask?
I am apparently carrying her pretty low, and was just wondering if anyone else is carrying low, too.
    6) GTKY: Most surprising part of pregnancy for you so far.
I'm just amazed at how quickly it's gone by so far! I love feeling her moving around, and last night, DH had his head on my belly talking to LO, and she kicked him in the face! It was hilarious!
  • @hillaryo14 at my 20 week ultra sound the baby was riding really low and since then most of my movement is down lower and I constantly have to pee because of this.  You are not alone.
@NYTino24 that sucks.  Hopefully things work out and the crib isn't broken.
@YesOuiCan where did you order the belly belt from? My doctor recommended one because of pain I've been having.
  • 1) How far along are you?
25 weeks! Size of a Napa cabbage (or prairie dog)
    2) Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go?
Had one today. Went well. Measuring right. Heartbeat was great. Have plenty more coming up too
    3) Cravings/symptoms?
No real cravings. But back pain, cramps, exhaustion, and my boobs feel extremely heavy. They were on the bigger side to begin with but they've gotten fuller and just seem to weigh me down.
    4) Rants/raves/concerns?
Hopefully we're putting the crib together in less than 2 weeks! DH unfortunately works every day but one weekend a month, so he's taking one of his free days to put it together so I can start on the nursery! I can't wait to see it together!
    5) Anything else you want to add/ask?
    6) GTKY: Most surprising part of pregnancy for you so far.
How much I love it! I'm terrified most of the time that something will go wrong. But after having medical issues prior to being pregnant and being told they don't kno if I can even carry let alone carry to term, I am seriously enjoying my pregnancy. So many people talk about how awful it was or how they couldn't wait to not be and I'm over here like I love it so much please don't come out yet I'm not ready for that part! If I could be pregnant all the time I would. Lol idk how true that is, but I seriously love it! Except the back pain and really not wanting to do ANYTHING ever, it's the best time of my life.
  • @kaitlinliz I'm so jealous of your experience. That's so awesome that pregnancy has been so great for you.  :)  I didn't have any medical issues but my husband has had so many that it is a blessing that we are having a child.  It does make you appreciate things even more.
  • @angkay711 I ordered my belly belt from Amazon for about $20. The one I chose is the Babo Care Breathable Abdominal Binder. It is arriving today so I can't speak to how well it works, but it gets very good reviews. I liked that it was one size fits all and that it seems to have good support without being too bulky. I'm sorry you've been having pain too!
  • @hillaryo14 I appear to be carrying low too, but my providers haven't said anything about it. Maybe I just look like I am because I have a slightly long torso? I'm actually kind of confused by this whole carrying low vs carrying high thing. How do some babies get up higher than other?!
  • I'm carrying low, although my fundal height was normal. Little guy likes to be frank breech and transverse, not head down. I assume that's why he's low.

  • @angkay711 @NYTino24 @YesOuiCan  I'm glad I'm not alone with carrying low! Baby girl is great at kicking my bladder, so I'm contemplating buying stock in TP!!
  • I'm carrying very low! He's been hanging out in my pelvic bone since the beginning. I pointed to the Dr yesterday where I feel him most and when she went to use the Doppler said she found him exactly where I said he'd be (and he wasn't moving at all when I pointed) but never said anything about it being an issue or anything. Definitely causes more back pain being that low tho
