  • How far along are you? How big are the babies? 20w4d with just one! Size of a banana according to the bump.

Any appointments this week/last? We had our anatomy scan on Friday. It seems it's good, however my OB appointment isn't until this Thursday. Baby was weighing 11 ounces, so right on track!  The tech had a clear view of the sex of the baby, but we opted to stay Team Green. Ahh!

GTKY: If you could go on an all expenses paid vacation anywhere in the world where would you go? I have traveled a lot but there are a few places I would like to go. I'd like to do a tour of Australia/Figi/New Zealand since it's expensive to get there. Maybe throw in a stop to Bali or somewhere else along the way. :)

    What rants/raves/questions/advice?  I can't believe I'm over halfway already!!!

18 + 3, babies are the size of artichokes or sw eat potatoes

    Any appointments this week/last?
Weve got or anatomy scan tomorrow. I'm excited. I was thinking I would be nervous, but then I realized that we get scans basically every week, so I'm sure if there were something horribly wrong, they would have seen it. Right?  Right?!  Don't tell me otherwise, that's how I'm selling it to myself ;)

GTKY: If you could go on an all expenses paid vacation anywhere in the world where would you go?
@tmk0325 youve got my answer!!  Totally an all expenses paid trip to Fiji, New Zealand, and Australia. With unlimited scuba diving, water sports, and insane accommodations. Luxury all the way. Le sigh. Maybe when we win the lottery.

    What rants/raves/questions/advice?
Well, it's getting more and more difficult to get out of bed, so that's fun, and I'm winded after just WALKING anywhere. I went shopping the other day and got lightheaded and clammy and had to take like 5 breaks. I'm only 18 weeks and already feel huge, so this is going to get interesting. Definitely not complaining, but it's just crazy how pregnancy changes your body so fast!  I'd do it a million more times for these guys though.
Questions????  Hmmmmmm...I don't think I have any right now!
  • How far along are you? How big are the babies? 19+1

Any appointments this week/last? nope, I have my anatomy scan next week

GTKY: If you could go on an all expenses paid vacation anywhere in the world where would you go? This is such a hard question!  so many options... all over Europe, Hawaii, the Galapagos, southern Africa, Australia/new Zealand...

What rants/raves/questions/advice?  I've actually been feeling pretty good the last few days which is nice.  I feel like i'm starting to nest and have been more antsy to get things set up in the baby room. We are making progress on that front, we got a chair for pistachio's room and one new to us dresser for the twins room that we will refinish and then trade out for the one they have and move their old one to pistachio's room. one of the last puzzle pieces will be weather we transition the twins to toddler beds or twin beds... both ideas terrify me... I'm not ready to release the kracken!

@tmk0325 so glad your anatomy scan looked good. we are also team green so I will be averting my eyes next week too.
@breezybee its amazing what an affect pregnancy has on your body. When I was pregnant with the twins I had to walk up a flight of stairs to our apartment and would get winded from that. (hell even with one in there I get winded.) the anatomy scan can be slightly more detailed but if there was something big they would have seen it by now. GL tomorrow! just be prepared that you will be on the table for a while... I think my US with the twins was 90+min.

  • Haha @wabash15. You should just choose a crazy around the world adventure. Hell, that's what I want!  I'm changing my answer :)
I feel like I'm always on the table for at least an hour lol, so no biggie. My husband gets bored after about 15 minutes and tries to slyly check his emails.
You guys, I am so lazy today. I woke up at 9am and STILL haven't gotten up, except to eat toast and make coffee. This long ass staycation is getting soooooooooooo boring!!!!!!  I literally have nothing I need to do today. I'm going to go for a walk or something I'm going insane.
  • @breezybee I can handle 2 maybe 3 lazy days then I too go stir crazy and must have stuff to do.

  • @wabash15 Have your twins been climbing out of their cribs yet? If so, when did it start?  I'm worried that this is going to start sooner rather than later.  One of my twins cribs is near the light switch and he just figured out that he can reach it and now we occasionally see the light go on and off. We live in a tiny apartment so their cribs are in the living room, so there is no where else to place them!

  • @breezybee I'm winded with just one. I remember though with two I was winded often. It was horrible and sad to say it only gets worse!

  • I'm 20+2 with boy/girl twins.

Today I'm tired and with a bit of an upset stomach. No appts till next Tuesday with the OB. I'm an idiot and forgot to do my 24 hr pee test over this weekend! Pregnant brain is real at this point.

Right now I want to visit all the cool places. Texas heat hasn't been my friend this particular summer. I'm thinking Prince Edward Island, Alaska, Quebec, Finland, Sweden, etc. It is winter right now in the southern hemisphere, a beach in Chile or Argentina? Maybe a visit to Iceland, Sweden, Finland, and Norway? Staying in a converted castle would be okay.

I'm in with the winded group at this point. I ran around town this weekend for an hour than needed a ten-fifteen minute sitting/reclining break. I'm also dealing with a headache right as I wake up in the morning, any suggestions on that?

@breezybee I'm confirming that you'll be on the table for awhile. I'll be hoping for an update from you! I feel like I've got the opposite issue to your time off. I've got to save every bit of my time as my current employer doesn't give paid maternity leave. I'd kill for a lazy day right now. I know that your free days are cause your employers are on vacation with their families, maybe plan a fun outing just for you. I like to take myself to a nice restaurant and window shop antiques. : )

  • @stella_700 I hope you get a lazy day soon. I can't imagine not having an occasional lazy day!
Oh, believe me - I've done so many lunches and window shopping lol. I'm going to do more tomorrow, actually!

For the expecting twin moms - I've been listening to a podcast called Twin Talks. It's got a ton of different topics and guests and it's super informative. The hosts can get a little annoying at times, but overall, it's good.
  • How far along are you? How big are the babies?
22+3, babies are each the size of green lantern's lantern (I spiced up my biweekly Dr appt ooo notice to my team with the size info and they're all asking me about it now lol! I work with a bunch of middle aged geeky dudes)

    Any appointments this week/last?
Tomorrow morning for check up with my OB. I'm finally done with antibiotics and monistat, hooray! My vag is back to her normal self!

GTKY: If you could go on an all expenses paid vacation anywhere in the world where would you go?
Greece! And probably some of the Mediterranean areas around there.

    What rants/raves/questions/advice?
Belly support band has been awesome! I got a more discreet one that fits under clothes nicely for public, and a giant looking one that gives better support, but there's no hiding it, so I only wear it at home.

I'm also excited for upcoming baby wearing meet up,  hopefully there are some twin mama's that can give me some hands on advice!

I'm with everyone on the pregnancy brain (I make a list when I remember with questions for my OB), and on being winded all the time.
  • How far along are you? How big are the babies?
20+3, babies are the size of bananas.

    Any appointments this week/last?
Last week, I had an AS, but I'll have to go back because the babies weren't cooperating. Also, had a follow up with my doc, but he didn't have the results yet.

GTKY: If you could go on an all expenses paid vacation anywhere in the world where would you go?
I'd go around the world too. Starting with several countries in Africa (South Africa, Kenya, Ethiopia, Ghana, Egypt, etc.), the Maldives, Greece, Brazil, Peru, Bali, Philippines and Italy. For anyone who chose Australia or New Zealand, you guys have fun there without me LOL. I've seen way too many videos of the type, size and amount of spiders there.

    What rants/raves/questions/advice?
    Nothing at the moment.
  • @breezybee Thanks for the tip on the podcast, I'm going to check that out! Also, I too have started getting winded pretty quickly! I volunteer leading horses at a therapeutic riding center and I've asked them to switch me to a slower horse because I could barely keep up with the one they gave me last time.

@clovelyone Well, it's an all expenses paid trip, so maybe you could hire someone to be your personal spider destroyer lol.

How far along are you? How big are the babies?
    19+4, di/di twins, mangos/Gameboys/hedgehogs :)

    Any appointments this week/last?
Had my AS last week. All went well, just need to keep an eye on my low lying placenta. And I have an appointment next Friday with my OB. I'm hoping that even though he can hear the babies separately now, he'll continue doing quick ultrasounds at every visit!

GTKY: If you could go on an all expenses paid vacation anywhere in the world where would you go?
I'm with others for the around the world trip, though there are a few countries I'd probably skip. I think the country I most want to visit is Thailand.

    What rants/raves/questions/advice?
Rant: My stepdaughter's been staying with us for the last week and a half and it's been both physically and emotionally exhausting. I realize I'm about to raise two little humans of my own so I sort of need to get used to it, but I do think it will be different when we get to set the rules and parenting style from the start. While I love her and am very close with her mom as well, there are definitely some things I plan to do differently when we raise our own kids that will hopefully reduce the stress and frustration we're feeling a little!
  • @KathrynJ088 I'm happy your Vag is back to itself.  That made me chuckle, but on a serious note, I have had some issues below and it's no fun!!
I dont listen to podcasts hardly ever but I might check that one out. Thanks @breezybee!

  • @tmk0325 DD got out a few times at just before 2 years of age (like 20-21months) but we lowered the crib to the very lowest level and since she is a bit of a peanut she has not been able to get out since. A few times DS has had his foot over the top rail but never seems intent on actually getting out. I worry when they are not confined that the twin tornado will just go crazy....
@stella_700 its amazing how pregnancy makes you heat intolerant
@KathrynJ088 when the twins were super little I could wear them both in a single soft structured carrier (it was a mai-tai) and then after that I would just wear one and hold the other or if DH was home or we were out and about we would each wear one. Ring slings are super easy too and I loved mine. GL and baby wearing is so helpful.  I never did master wraps with wearing both twins though there are some youtube videos that might be helpful if you go that route.
@leilagphillips you'll have those moments with the twins too. just hang on to the happy sweet moments to get you through the rougher times.

  • Hi all! I'm very new. But excited to find fellow Moms of Multiples!

How far along are you? How big are the babies?
19 +3, although measuring a bit ahead per ultrasound. My girls are the size of mangoes. Or bananas. Depending on your app/produce preference!

    Any appointments this week/last?
Anatomy scan last week. All is well! Cervix scan this week, woo hoo.

GTKY: If you could go on an all expenses paid vacation anywhere in the world where would you go? I'm going to jump on the Australia/New Zealand train. Although going back to Morocco would be a close second.

    What rants/raves/questions/advice?
Rants- It's way above 100 degrees here, and I had to go grocery shopping today. The heat is KILLING ME.

Raves- my husband brought me terrible/wonderful junk food tonight, so I didn't have to cook. (And he didn't have to starve.) This pregnancy is brought to you by chili cheese fries and Starbucks breakfast sandwiches.

Also, found my local Facebook multiples group and a Tandem babywearing group. Definitely recommend. It's somewhat intimidating, but I'm learning a lot!
  • @jennasaisquoi welcome. are your girls di/di or mo/di?

  • Welcome @jennasaisquoi ! Congrats on twins!  and @breezybee congrats on girls! Yay!

I also met with my doc yesterday, actually he got called into something so I met with the Midwife, and she reviewed my anatomy scan. Baby looks great, however my cervix not so great. It is a bit shorter than normal (normal with my doc is 3 or higher) and I was at a 2.7.  They did not do a transvaginal u.s. so the measurements may be off.  I'm really hoping that's the case and not that it's shortening. I have a follow up u.s. next week Friday to get better measurements and they are saying pelvic rest and no heavy lifting the remainder of the pregnancy.  I was like I have two 20lb twins at home, I'm not sure how well that will work?!  She said well, anything else besides them and try to limit lifting them.  It's a good thing I'm already doing the progesterone shots!

  • Hang in there @tmk0325!  Hopefully it stops right where it is.
  • @tmk0325 Sending good thoughts your way. Hopefully your followup will just show a bad measurement!

@breezybee Two girls! Congratulations! I'm glad that your scan was good!

@jennasaisquoi Welcome! Congrats on your twins. These ladies have been a lot of help so far. I'm going to a baby wearing meeting this month and next month is Fort Worth's semi annual Just between friends used babystuff sale. Its in the Will Roger's coliseum over Labor Day weekend for any DFW moms.

  • @tmk0325 fx it was just a wonky measurement. I hate when docs give you restrictions that are just not realistic in your life. Like don't lift your kids...

Any appointments this week/last? I met with the MFM again today and was put on modified bed rest for the next 2 weeks while we see if the new meds they are switching me to will slow my heart rate. I have another echocardiogram scheduled for this coming Tuesday and an appointment with a cardiologist next Thursday. Make to the MFM in 2 weeks for an ultrasound and another consult.

GTKY: If you could go on an all expenses paid vacation anywhere in the world where would you go? Ireland. I've always wanted to visit!

What rants/raves/questions/advice?  Do people use Rock N Plays for sleeping?  I thought I had read that but then read they may not be safe because of SIDS. Thoughts?  I'm just thinking of a back up when the babies are born before we put them in their cribs in their room.

  • @beary67 I'm sorry your having HR problems. I hope the bedrest helps and that you don't go crazy. I'm glad the boys looked good. I know plenty of parents who have their kiddo's sleep in the RNP. The recommendations for sleep is a flat hard surface such as a crib or PNP with nothing in it, but that being said sometimes for sanity things get fudged...DS and DD mostly slept in the PNP/crib but when DD was having a lot of problems spitting up we put her in our mommaroo (though that stopped when she was able to start rolling over), we also did some co-sleeping which for some is also considered a no-no. They (the saftey experts) also recommend that babies don't be allowed to sleep in their car seats. I will tell you that IRL if the twins fell asleep in their car seats as were were running errands there was no way in hell i was waking them up to get them out when we got home. They stayed in their car seats. I put the seats where i could see them and we didn't put them down to sleep in the seats but still. So, use your judgement, make sure they are strapped in, and do what saves your sanity and is as safe as you can make it.

@tmk0325 Hoping for just an inaccurate measurement and an all is well on your next scan!

@beary67 FX your follow ups get you off of bed rest. Otherwise, try to relax and enjoy a little time off of your feet.
  • @beary67 Sorry you're having to go on bedrest. FX your HR goes down. If you need any show recommendations, let me know!
  • @wabash15- They are di/di, definitely fraternal (we did IVF, so know for sure!)

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone!

  • @beary67 we used RnPs for the first 8 weeks home and then they went to a PnP and a Crib. They had reflux so the upright position definitely helped. They would give us 3 or so hour stretches at a time in them. As @wabash15 said we also left them in their car seats too if they were sleeping in there. Just remove hats and blankets so they don't get to hot. Ours almost always fell asleep in the car so this was a for sure way to get a short nap!

    Hey y'all

I'm 18 and 4, with mo/di twin girls. They were 7 and 8 oz when I had the anatomy scan on Wed.

The smaller one (baby b) was found to have 2 blood vessels only in the umbilical cord. She should have 3. This defect can be associated with heart or kidney issues, and IUGR. Also genetic problems, but we're 99% sure genetics are good, based on screening. We'll get a fetal echocardiogram next week.

I think the biggest risk is IUGR and TTTS (which can be associated), but we'll get regular monitoring. Also, I have gained weight (smidge more than I should), so we don't have the low maternal weight gain thing happening, which is associated with increased risk of IUGR. We'll be watching and waiting.

    Anyone familiar with this?

Me- 39 (turning 40 in April), TTC for the first time ever (since Jan 2015), low ovarian reserve
Married 3/14/14 to my wonderful wife, but her sperm count is rather low
TTC with frozen donor sperm and science

    7 IUIs, 7 BFNs.
2 IVF attempts, both cancelled and converted to IUI, both BFNs.
Decided that my tired old ovaries are ready to retire.
Next step- reciprocal IVF, using my wife's eggs, my uterus!
fresh 5 day transfer (2 embryos) 4/17/17- BFP!
Identical twins "due" 1/2/17 (but anticipated arrival sometime December)

  • @KLake42 I am familiar but we didn't have it happen with our mono/di twins. The mono/di Facebook group has lots of people that have dealt with it and I believe there is a separate TTTS group as well. I'd highly suggest joining and asking more specific questions in there once you find out more.

How far along are you? How big are the babies?
I just had my anatomy scan at 20 weeks and 1 day. My babies are both at 12 oz.

Any appointments this week/last? Yes. 20 week scan

GTKY: If you could go on an all expenses paid vacation anywhere in the world where would you go? I would go to Europe. I have been craving Italian food. Breads. Paste.

What rants/raves/questions/advice?  My husband had been comparing my pregnancy to other women. I keep telling him sometimes I just feel terrible and he doesn't understand how difficult it is some days. He came to my appointment and got to see the babies. How big they are already and how much they are moving around and looking great.  I was so happy and not he really treats me like I'm carrying precious cargo.

He helps me up and down the stairs. Helps me out of bed. Helps me off the couch. I just feel so appreciated.
  • @KLake42 I didn't have this with my twins but I have known several singleton mammas who have had a 2VC who went on to have healthy pregnancies and healthy babies. Fx its the same for you and your baby girl. I hope the extra monitoring makes you feel a bit better about it.

  • @KLake42- My (singleton) son had a 2 vessel cord. He is perfectly healthy, uncomplicated pregnancy and delivery, no problems, I went to 40 +3. I worried myself sick Googling about it, but after a panicky phone call, my ob/gyn basically said he's seen the diagnosis multiple times and it's never been an issue. *Hugs* Hang in there!
