Infertility

New...again..

Hi everyone!!  It's been quite a while since I've posted and quite a lot has happened since then.  Our baby journey was put on a long hold while my DH and I worked through some challenging times together.  We came out stronger than ever and so excited to start our journey again.  We found out a few years ago that DH had an extremely low sperm count.  After a procedure, it went up slightly then we continued to try and still no bfp... now 2 years later, we are unexplained infertility.  HSG and clomid for me and tomorrow is our first iui.  I'm so excited and crazy nervous... After all we've been through in the last 4 years TTC, it's amazing we're here.  So happy to tell you my story and welcome words of encouragement or someone to tell me to chill the f out! Lol

Update on yesterday's appointment..  the clomid definitely worked.. 5 follicles all between 17-20mm.  So RE recommended we wait another cycle.  Now he's recommending plan b since we had sex day 12 before my day 13 appt yesterday.  I have 5 sets of twins between both sides of my family so multiples are even more likely in my case.  I'm so torn with this decision...any words of wisdom or encouragement?

  • If there is any degree of MFI going on, it is highly unlikely that all 5 will fertilize and grow.
I ovulated early during my ivf cycle and has 5-6 maturing follicles. We bd'd the day before I ovulated, but I still didn't get pregnant.
A lot of RE's aim for that many follicles for injectable iui cycles.
Obviously it's your decision, but the odds are extremely low.

  • @roxarn8 I agree with what was said above!! We have an August iui board! Join our group and you might get more support there :)
  • @ReesaAnne16 thank you for the encouragement and reassurance.  I decided not to take it... My thoughts exactly about the odds of all 5 fertilizing.

@meredithj123 thank you for your reaponse!! I'll see you on the August board!!
  • Welcome back! I'd skip the Plan B... The way I see it, the more the merrier right? lol jk... I always joke with my RE that if she gave us twins or triplets or eve quads I would be forever grateful that I would never have to go through this process again! ;) Like PP said, it's unlikely that they all would fertilize so I wouldn't have taken it either.

    Good luck on your cycle!!!!
