Trouble TTC

Throat Punch Thursday

Okay ladies, it's time to vent!

Who or what deserves a throat punch today?   I'll start....

I am totally fed up with my next door neighbors.  Our town has a weekly 'leaf day' in the fall, where they will vacuum or pick up your raked bags of leaves.   Our neighbors take all of this time to rake their leaves in a huge, neat pile, but they do not bag them, and so the leaves blow into our yard by morning time.    So we end up with twice the leaf raking work every week.

We left a POLITE note asking them to please bag their leaves because of this problem.  They responded with a snotty, condescending note about recycling waste and how the wind blows in more than one direction blah blah.   Basically they aren't going to do anything to fix the issue.   Throat punch for them.

Re: Throat Punch Thursday

  • As I may have mentioned, I work in an assisted living.  I love all my residents, but some of their family members drive me crazy.  There is one in particular...I swear, about 90% of my work-related stress comes from her.  I can understand her feelings of concern and guilt, as many families feel....but she can be just down right awful and mean to me and my staff.  She also can be very passive aggressive which drives me up a friggin wall.  Honestly, with what I've seen and heard, she just is not a nice person.  In the 8  years I have been in this business, she is by far the worst family I have ever had to deal with.

  • Technically this is from yesterday, but I'll go with it because no one has pissed me off today:

A woman brought a baby into the fertility clinic waiting room yesterday and it made me irrationally annoyed since I was feeling depressed about our IUI the previous day. I've appreciated that my fertility clinic experiences have been blissfully free of babies and obviously pregnant people. I thought we were all on the same page here, but I guess not. I know she may have secondary infertility or had trouble conceiving her first and is back trying for her second, so I have to keep reminding myself that this is not some slight against infertile couples.

Mine is the same as yesterday's (WTF Wednesday) because I talked to DH about it yesterday after work and he doesn't seem to understand my side of it....

    My husband and FIL.

We need a new engine for his car (we've needed it for 1 year) and finally have the means to get one. Anyway, we were looking at 3 different ones and finally decided on one. We have a friend of my FIL who's a mechanic (let's call him Bob) and is going to put the engine in for us (yay!). Well DH and I agreed on how much we were going to pay Bob. This was about 2 weeks ago.

Fast forward to a couple days ago, DH tells my FIL we're going to pay Bob x amount. Why DH decided to tell FIL is beyond me but oh well. My FIL says you should pay Bob y amount. DH agreed and then told Bob that we we're going to pay him y amount. NEVER was the change in payment discussed with me first before telling Bob. I found out yesterday (Wednesday) on the way to work. The new amount is way too much (IMO) and I don't want to look like the bad guy by saying no, we're paying x amount like we agreed on... ugh

    edited to add:

@GoldenKeys - I would be annoyed with neighbors like that too. I'd also be very tempted to bag my leaves and dump them in their lawn.

@hoffmanr7 - Sorry that your resident's family member is a pain in the a$$.

@Bababatty - That's go to be hard. Good for you for trying to find a logical explanation for her and giving her the benefit of the doubt.

  • Oh my gosh, yes, my MIL please!  We don't have a great relationship with her anyway, she's just kind of crazy...lies a lot, super passive aggressive, gossips, etc.  She insisted on bringing us dinner last night bc it was our first night at home after the tree fell (even though I had said I wanted to cook dinner for the two of bc we've been staying with my parents since the storm) so she's late bringing it (by this time I am starving and nauseous and angry!) and she invites themselves to stay and eat with us "because she doesn't want to have to drive home this late and fix them dinner, too." SHE NEVER MAKES THEM DINNER, THEY EAT OUT EVERY SINGLE MEAL.  So, after cleaning up our house, watching the tree guys take my beautiful oak tree away (husband and I were both in tears) I got to entertain my crazy MIL for dinner!  Throat punch!

  • I have an impending throat punch. We are in Wisconsin visiting family (my SO's parents and my dad and his wife live here...a few hours from each other). I am DREADING this weekend when we stay with my dad and his wife, mostly because they have three Yorkies that bark at EVERYTHING and have had zero discipline (my dad lets them drink from his coffee mug!). His wife fits right in with the dogs....she's one of those people who will keep talking even though everyone has walked away from her, she literally never stops. Happy vacation to us!

  • Uggggggggggggg.  Just found out today that another person is pregnant at work.  I had a bit of a lull this past year pregnant coworker wise and now this.

To make matters worse, this will be her second pregnancy since DH and I have started trying for 1.  She was a pain in the a$$ work wise because of constant call-ins.  She constantly is dragging her little one to the ER or doctor's office over every little thing.  Over the past year (less than actually), she and her boyfriend have "broken up" and gotten back together twice (the last time just being like a week ago), and she can't even legally drink yet.  She is immature and really, not the type of person who should be having children...especially so young.

I had to excuse myself after she told us and ended up crying in the bathroom.  Of course, this is all compounded by the feeling that AF is on her way, meaning our last medicated cycle before moving to IFV has most likely failed.  The unfairness still dumbfounds me every single time.

  • @hoffmanr7 - it sucks. I'm so sorry about the possible AF and the possible failed IUI, and I'm sorry that as you're dealing with this, you're getting another pregnancy announcement. :(

I hate throat punch Thursday. Ugh. But also, proud of you for making it to the bathroom! Half the time, for real, I just end up sobbing at my desk, openly!
