Re: Symptoms/Questions/Concerns 7/31

  •  My pelvic/groin pain has lessened as I've been using a belly support bands, but wanted to throw out a bit of advice. I was seeking immediate relief for all the pressure & pain and was advised on a fb mom group (LWB) to try KT tape. It was awesome and I had immediate relief while I impatiently waited on Amazon. What no one told me about KT tape was to not stretch it too much at the ends. It literally ripped my skin, not from pulling it off, just the weight of my belly was pulling on my already stretched skin.

So warning: be careful with KT tape for belly support! And use baby oil to help remove, DO NOT rip off like a bandaid!

  • @KathrynJ088  do you have a specific resource for how to position the KT tape?

  • thanks @KathrynJ088!

my symptom for this week is that my pregnancy "nose" came roaring back recently. i never realized the sensitivity had gone back down a smidge in second tri until this weekend. i don't know what's up with me but everything smells terrible / really strong and it's affecting my tastebuds as well.

  • @anewadventure SAME. DH washed his hands in the upstairs bathroom and I could smell the soap from my perch in the den before he was even halfway down the steps.  Also, my congestion and nosebleeds are worse than ever!
  • Really sensitive nipples. They burn so badly. I'm starting to get heartburn. Things taste weird. RLP in my belly. Still feeling sick some but not like 1st trimester.

  • Had my second ultrasound on Friday and the doctor just called and wants me to have another done this week. The baby is growing fine but there is a small spot that is showing up in the baby's stomach. She went through the usual "there shouldn't be anything to worry about" speech but obviously I'm freaking out. Anyone have prior experience with this?
  • @jamiekay123 DD2 had a spot on her liver and it resolved and was nothing - hoping you have a similar experience!

As far as symptoms, I have been getting the absolute worst migraines lately. And BH in the middle of the night - they feel a lot stronger this time around which is really annoying. Thankful I have an OB appt tomorrow to talk about all these things!

  • My headaches appear to be back. I had a bit of a nose bleed but I'm constantly congested. Still really tired.. and of course, not sleeping well at night.
  • I'm dealing with decent back pain currently, time for me to wear the support belt more I'm thinking. I don't have too many nose issues except I snore now. Not like a little gentle snore, like freight train snoring.

@dkizz82 Lord the nipple pain. The only thing that helps it seems to be warm running water over them followed by time to let them subside from whatever irritated them. I've put away all lacy bras/bras with seams running across the cups etc.

@elcd458 @dilbert890  I also have horrible sinus congestion. I do have a prescription nose spray that I was already on, and my fertility doctor and OB were not concerned about it - but now my sinuses are so much worse, the spray only lasts for a little while and then I'm stuffed up again (like, completely congested). I have to pick and choose when I use it so I don't get addicted! I find that Breath Right nose strips actually help a bit and recommend those. I wear them around the house and at night if I need it.
  • Hello fatigue! I took a nap after work and slept a good 2.5 hours, but could've just stayed asleep until morning if I didn't have a family to feed. The heavy cream I bought went bad and I didn't have an ingredient for my other recipe, so I ended up going to Taco Bell at 9PM to pick up dinner. They had some computer problem and couldn't take orders, so McDonald's was the only back up plan. Now I'm super frustrated for taking a nap in the first place  :s
  • I'm super congested all of a sudden and so tired... worse than first trimester. My nipples are also super itchy? That's a new one for me.

  • Still pulling and RLP. I'm going to need belly support for this pregnancy I feel. BH like woah. I don't remember them starting this early with my first two. Sleep sucks and I'm still fatigued. I guess just a lot of complaints lol
  • I've had an interesting weekend thanks to what I originally assumed were my "pregnancy symptoms". This pregnancy has been drastically different from my first, especially in that I have had a much more sensitive stomach. I've also had some strange "side stitch" sensations at what seemed like random times. Then, this Friday I had fairly severe pain in my upper right abdominal area, right under my ribcage for HOURS. I felt bloated and could not get the pain to lessen. I called OB and they gave me the typical "drink water and lay on your left side" despite my insistence that this pain was NOT a contraction. Long story short, it ended up being my gallbladder, which we decided to remove to lessen the risk of emergency surgery after the baby was too big (uterus crowding surgery area was the concern) or becoming septic from infection, etc. Turns out I had multiple stones and an inflamed and infected gallbladder. I'm home and healing now, baby boy handled everything perfectly, but it was easily the scariest thing to ever happen to me.

  • @lovelylittledahls Glad both you and baby are OK. That would be super scary.
  • @lovelylittledahls I had an appendectomy when I was pregnant with DS1. Suuuppppeeerrr scary. So glad everything went well for you both. And speedy recovery the rest of the way for you
  • Just had my anatomy scan and am being sent to a specialist to check out my placenta previa for another ultrasound. Just placed on pelvic rest. Here's hoping it moves up!
  • @lovelylittledahls Oh my gosh, how scary! Isn't it amazing how we just know when something is off about our bodies? I'm so glad to hear everything went well, best wishes for an easy pregnancy from here on out.

  • @lovelylittledahls How scary! This happened to my friend when she was pregnant, I guess pregnancy can exasperate the situation? I'm glad you're home healing.
  • @lovelylittledahls How scary! I'm glad it's taken care of so you don't have to be in pain or worry any more!

  • @lovelylittledahls I had mine out in 2014 and felt ridiculously better after. So happy all went well and wishing you a speedy recovery. Very happy baby boy is just fine!
  • Count me in on the smell sensitivity.  Yesterday SO had taken a shower, was sitting on the floor playing with my boys and I was like what's that smell?? Wasn't the boys, wasn't me, here it was his feet AFTER he showered. I was like go wash them again! I swear I have a super nose this time around!

@KathrynJ088 I never tried the tape with the twins, but I did get a belly belt.  I wore it almost everyday after like 26 or so weeks.  It really did help with support.

  • @elcd458@dilbert890@bbylifelove @kaylawing I am also feeling the congestion! Seems to be lessening but I had horrible sinus pain for the past 2 weeks. I sleep wit the humidifier which seems to help.

@KathrynJ088 I am rocking the support belt, too! The pubic bone pain I had with my daughter has come back earlier and more intense with this one. I might resort to going to a chiropractor to see if I can get some relief.

  • @lavashiner I'm curious on the chiropractor fixing the groin pain. My MIL swears by them, but I've never been.

How many Braxton Hicks are too many? I've read to call your OB after 4 in an hour, but that seems crazy to me.  I'd be calling everyday almost. They usually go away, but were close to every 7 minutes on my way home from work today,  disappeared for a few hours and they're back again. I've also been behind on my water intake for today, so I'm hoping that's the only reason they are picking back up.
  • Anyone on glyburide for GD or has been in the past? If so, thoughts?
  • @anewadventure, the pregnancy nose, YES. I don't even realize I can smell things so strongly until I mention it and DH has no idea what I'm talking about. Some of it is awesome. A small bouquet of flowers in the kitchen and my whole house smells amazing. But then there's the not amazing stuff. My daughter's sandals/feet. Omg GAG. Stank up the whole house today.
  • My most recent symptom is a ton of pressure in my lady parts. Like, just sore for no reason. I'm anticipating needing some physical therapy for my abdominal and pelvic regions post baby.

and I'm just waiting for carpal tunnel to come back in full force.
  • @KathrynJ088 I've never used KT tape for pregnancy but I use it a lot for marathon training and have found some excellent YouTube videos on application. Depending on how/where you're applying it, it can require between 25-75% stretch which makes a huge difference. I can't imagine ripping it off my belly, it usually cements onto my legs!

@elcd458, ditto on the nosebleeds and congestion. It's been nonstop for me since about 12 weeks.

I hate to be the gross one here but... holy hell, I have what I can only describe as swamp crotch. I just feel sweaty and gross 24/7.

  • Swollen feet! Aching like I stood in the OR for a few hours today and it feels like I'm walking on cinderblocks. My hands also keep swelling and I have to go up and down glove sizes. Face is swollen too ugh  :s:s

I also suffer with swamp crotch ugh

i think I feel like I've just aged 50 years. How does anyone do this more than once much less year after year.

also mrs duggar omg baby girl we need to talk I can't believe you've had 19 children and I can barely do one

swollen face and acne and too tired to put on make up I literally look like something from the wild things

    also ahh!
  • This really sums it up.....or lack there of.....

  • @NME44 yup. My vag aches. I think it's just the swelling and such. I was actually planning on phoning my physical therapist tomorrow to book an appointment soonish (which will probably be in 2 months cause she's insanely busy). Never hurts to see them in pregnancy! Have you been to Pelvic floor physio? They are a godsend to the perinatal woman!

  • @nme44 I had carpal tunnel with my first.  This time, though, my hand just feels numb when I move it a certain way.  Could that be from carpal tunnel too?
  • @anewadventure yes I teach. So far my instructions have been for no sex. Nothing on excercise. We will see what the specialist tells me on Friday... My fear is bedrest in the future since it would completely affect my work. I'm just hoping it moves up!

And it seems to be fully covered. :(
  • @balletnerd  FX for some improvement!
  • Here's a new fun one.. Charlie horse in my calf. Thought it was just a one off the other night, and now I'm hobbling around the house because it still hurts hours later. I know bananas, but I'm not a big fan (read: I hate them except banana bread). Any other suggestions for high potassium foods?
  • How about magnesium supplements @KathrynJ088?
