I love 13 reasons why @ktw1518.  I'm a huge fan of the book so I was so excited for the show.  I thought they did an amazing job bringing the book to life.

I was just googling to see when the next season comes out! Looks like Halloween - I can't wait.

Also anxiously awaiting season 2 of The Crown on Netflix. I'm not embarrassed to say I've watched the entire season twice now.
  • @allen4tl I feel like shameless may be my most favorite show ever
  • I just started watching rattled on TCL and because I saw commercials I am watching out daughter too.
  • Now Im rewatching Shameless even though I binged it just a few weeks ago. It is amazeballs.

  • Love everything that's already been mentioned, but my all-time fave show available on Netflix is The West Wing. It's SO GOOD. I'm a political junkie anyway so that type of show appeals to me, and I was obsessed with it when it was on TV the first time around. Binge watching it makes it even better!

@Dumbgurl04 this might be an UO, but I felt that 13 Reasons Why was a really dangerous show because it glorified suicide and victim behavior. But, to be honest I also thought it was entertaining to watch - I just wouldn't let any kids or teenagers watch it.

@bebber I love Below Deck and Below Deck Med!  I'm SOOOOOO glad that Malea is finally getting called out for stringing two guys along, although both guys are behaving like idiots. It's one thing to casually date two different guys in normal life, another thing to try to do that on a freaking yatch when the guys are roommates.

    AFM,
GoT, SYTYCD, Below Deck, The Spouse House (it's so horrible that it's good), can't wait for new Stranger Things, Handmaid's Tale (hey @kaymaroo! can't wait for season 2!), Victoria ...

Also watched some of Orphan Black (meh), and Gypsy - which I had to stop watching because I found it really depressing.

Some of my favorite older shows: Dexter, Downton Abbey, Call the Midwife, Westworld. I'm sure I'll think of more.
  • @lund YES to dexter!  I binge watched it over the summer a few years ago, soooo good!!!

  • @lund I loved Dexter but I never got over the ending.

@lund I loved Dexter but I never got over the ending.
Confession: I never watched the last episode. Partially because I didn't want it to be over, and partially because everyone said how dumb it was.
  • @lund that was a good decision haha it's not worth the wtf whyyyyy?

I get why people say that @lund. Have you read the book?  I actually got so mad when I read articles about people saying it glorified suicide.  I feel like I'm always screaming
Image result for read the book gif

I feel one thing they missed a lot of in the show (even though it was great) was in the book Hannah said a lot through out the tapes how she didn't want to die.  That's the thing a lot of people  have overlooked.  People who are depressed and thinking about suicide aren't going to come right out and say it.  They drop very small hints that they think are good enough but they just believe people don't care.  There was just more to Hannah in the book and her feelings.  After I read the book I saw so much of myself in Hannah (expect for the wanting to kill myself part) but there were times in high school I felt lost and thought nobody cared and stupid rumors got started that just had this snowball effect.  Yes I can see how people see this show as something that glorifies suicide, but I don't feel like they are really seeing the whole picture.  The show added a lot and I felt it lost some of Hannah's view but still I really liked the show and thought they did a great job of bringing the book to life.  I just wish people looked more into it then this girl killed her self and made some tapes.

  • My favorite shows are Gilmore Girls, Game of Thrones, Supernatural, Vampire Diaries (until the last...2 seasons?), Grey's Anatomy, uhh... I don't even know which others.

I have a problem with watching shows/movies if based on a book. I have to read the book first, which is what I'm doing with Outlander at the moment.

Two of  my coworkers love Shameless and described it to me... I'm just not sure it's something I would like. :/

PLL - I was obsessed with this show and then we got rid of cable and I never watched the last season.

I am one of the few who didn't like Stranger Things. DH and I tried to watch it but... eh. We just didn't care or like it after watching 5 episodes.

@peppersmith22 I love Orphan Black. Haven't watched any of this season though. :/ Only watch through Amazon Prime. I started Midnight Texas though, and I'm not sure what to think just yet.

@lund love Dexter! The ending though... ugh! (And edited to add good decision not to watch it!

@Dumbgurl04 Fair enough - most shows or movies don't do a great job of interpreting everything that's in the book. I just cannot agree with glorifying vindictive, victim behavior that seems to scream "I'm such a good person! Why is everyone else an asshole???" *eyeroll*. I also feel that the show implies that suicide is anyone's fault other than the person who committed it. Yes, they're responsible for their own mistakes and actions - but no one is EVER responsible for someone else's decision to commit suicide.
  • @lund that's how I felt about the show. I didn't like that those people were held responsible. Suicide is a choice and a choice that hurts the ones left behind. It's life you will be burnt one time or another, especially in HS teenagers are assholes. I hated HS. I ended up taking an alternative route to receive my diploma. However I will still be watching season 2!
  • @Buttercup0525 This season of Orphan Black is intense! I'm sad it's the last one :( I also like Supernatural and TVD. Did you watch the Originals? I read that they are ending it after this season. I'm not sold on Midnight Texas yet either but I like it more than I thought I would!
  • @peppersmith22 I know! I can't believe it's almost over. :(  I'm currently watching The Originals on Netflix. I started watching it when it first came on, but fell out of watching TV for a while, so had to go get caught up on it all again. Midnight Texas is interesting. I mostly started watching it because Lexie from TVD is in it. lol.

  • yep and that's one thing I wish the show would have kept in @lund she knew it was her choice.  I didn't feel like she was playing the victim card in the book.  Yeah she had her reasons and its from people's actions if anything it felt like she blamed herself for not being able to deal with their actions.  I agree she acted like a victim in the show.  Plus totally agree about the whole "im a good person, other people are bad" that is a major eyeroll.

Also I'm curious to see what they do with season 2.  Because the author of the book brought a 10th anniversary edition of the book.  It had the original ending where Hannah lives so I wonder if they would play around with that.  Either way I'll be watching.

  • @Dumbgurl04 Just the first one. I put off reading it for a while because I'm not a big fan of romance type books (where it's the main plot, rather than a sub plot) and so it took some convincing from my current manager to get me to read it. I was also told (by the same person) that the second book is hard to get through. Did you think so? Different note: Hannah lives in the original ending?! I read the book when it first came out, but didn't even look at the 10th anniversary!

  • For me @buttercup0525 book two had moments that dragged but then were amazing and hard to stop reading.  Book 3 and 4 (Voyager and Drums of Autumn are the best at least to me) Book 5 the Fiery Cross was boring to me it took me forever to get through because it just seemed like it never went any where.
And yes the 10th anniversary edition of 13 reasons has some special little things here and there from the author on his ideas for the story during writing process and why he went with what we he did.  And pretty much the original ending is almost the same as how the book ended but instead of Hannah still being dead someone tells Clay that they just found out that she lived.  But it felt like there could be a another book to see what happens to Hannah after that.
