  • Current stats if you'd like to share!  (Usually starting weight, current weight and TTC goal weight.)
CW: 139.7 (I just like having a number under 140. Hasn't happened since high school!) GW: 135 (but TBH if I don't reach that before TTC I'm really ok with it.)

Fitness game plan for this week:
I want to actually work out more days than not. Aiming for 5, ideally every week day so I can rest on the weekend!
Did you meet last week's goals?
No, but it wasn't a complete bust. I did better on my nutrition than the week before so I lost a little.
    Fitness goal for this month:
I would like to lose a few pounds and stay consistent withe working out using P90x3 workouts.
Anything else you want to share about your fitness plans/journey?
Allergy symptoms have been making it tough, so I hope I can get a reprieve from that.'
    Any rants or raves?  Frustrations?
    Also the heat. Ugh.
GTKY: I think the one I've enjoyed the most is Barre

Current stats if you'd like to share!  (Usually starting weight, current weight and TTC goal weight.)
    127ish, 127ish, GW: 119

Fitness game plan for this week: Crap, just remembered I didn't buy lunch stuff for the week. I think I have a frozen lean cuisine though. So game plan: go shopping for healthy lunch stuff and continue walking/jogging.

Did you meet last week's goals?
4 walks! But only a total of 8.3 miles (but I'm happy that I at least got out there!)

    Fitness goal for this month:
3 walks/week average 9 miles per week. Healthy (no take out!) lunches 4/week.

Anything else you want to share about your fitness plans/journey?

    Any rants or raves?  Frustrations?
Weather has been a tiny bit cooler this week which makes it SO much easier to get outside!

GTKY: What is your favorite type of exercise?
I really enjoyed using an elliptical when I went to the gym!
@lalala2004 one of my friends LOVES barre! I like dancing but never really got into barre.
  • Current stats if you'd like to share!
    SW: 145, CW: 142, GW: 130

Fitness game plan for this week:
Eat better!! I need to stop shoving my face with junk food once I get home from work.

Did you meet last week's goals?
    NOPE!

    Fitness goal for this month:
I created a simple workout that shouldn't take me more than 5-10 minutes a day. And I really need to start taking my vitamins!

Anything else you want to share about your fitness plans/journey?
    Nahhhh

    Any rants or raves?  Frustrations?
Frustration - I take the train to work downtown, so between getting to/from both train stations, and taking a walk around lunchtime, I am walking 4-6 miles a day. I *should* not have a problem losing a couple pounds. It's the damn junk food that does me in!

GTKY: What is your favorite type of exercise?
Walking, biking, or swimming. I'm good at doing those on my own. When the weather is nice, and when I have time!

Hey guys! I'm going to join you on this thread even though I think it's intimidating!

Current stats if you'd like to share!  (Usually starting weight, current weight and TTC goal weight.)

SW/CW: 175ish  GW: 160 (short term). I'm currently TTC so obviously if I get KU soon I will not reach that.

Fitness game plan for this week:

I signed up for beach body on demand so I started a 3 week program (shift shop) this morning. That's 6 days of workouts and also comes with a nutrition program I am going to attempt to follow (its grain free  :| )

Did you meet last week's goals?

    Fitness goal for this month:

I want to complete this program and get my nutrition in check (even if I don't follow the program exactly). I definitely need to work on portion control!

Anything else you want to share about your fitness plans/journey?

I've gained 15ish lbs while TTC. I'm super frustrated with myself for this. I'm hoping I can channel some of this stress into my workouts and get my emotional eating in check. It's also partly because my mindset was "I will be KU soon and it won't matter". But here I am 8 months later and I realized I would rather start my potential pregnancy feeling healthy!

    Question -
does anyone have good suggestions for portable and easy lunches? I work to far away to go home for lunch. But I have a breakroom or I go to my parents house quite a bit just to get out of the office.

    Any rants or raves?  Frustrations?

Not yet but it's only day 1.

GTKY: What is your favorite type of exercise?

I like lifting, but I don't really know what I'm doing... I also like being outside and running, biking, walking. I used to take yoga and barre classes and loved it but it's expensive!

  • @MrsMiller8588 I love Beachbody on Demand! I haven't done shift shop, but my favorite grain free lunches are tuna salad, Greek yogurt, or turkey chili. With the chili I make a batch at the beginning of the week and divide it out into individual portions. For breakfast I would make a sweet potato crust quiche and divide it into portions, but that would be good for lunch, too. Meal prepping is really key for most of those Beachbody eating plans. I've stuck pretty close to the 21DF plan for the last 7 months and it's really worked for me, but it does allow grains.

@lalala2004 Thanks for the tips!! I haven't gotten my containers yet but if this meal plan is too hard for me I might try to switch to the 21DF. Do you have recipes you wouldn't mind sharing for the tuna salad and quiche?

I guess I am going to start meal prepping! I travel for work pretty frequently so I also need to find some recipes I can eat cold. And buy a little lunch cooler. Being healthy is hard work!

  • @MrsMiller8588 - I definitely eat better when I've meal prepped before. Do you like salads? If you're creative, there's lots of different ways to prepare salads! I was adding taco meat and black beans for a while. Then switched to avocado and hard boiled eggs. Even crumbled hamburger and shredded cheese makes for a tasty salad! And keeping them cold in a cooler would be easy.

@kimberbeep I do like salads! What do you use for dressings or do you just skip it? That's where it's hard because I love ranch, but it's not healthy. At all.  Do you do them in a Mason jar or just keep dressing on the side to not get mushy lettuce?

  • @MrsMiller8588 I've been obsessed with Trader Joe's lately, they have a great prepared lunch section (wraps, salads, sandwiches, burritos), most of them have a good helping of veggies and are reasonably healthy (and delicious). That's probably the only way that I'm able to keep my eating on track myself. Everything is so yummy that I don't even miss going out to lunch.

  • millpemillpe member
@JennyColada I wish we had a Trader Joe's!!! I think being in ND makes this even harder. Or maybe that's my lazy side. Lol

  • @MrsMiller8588 lol! Is there another grocery store near you that does like a prepared deli section? Even if it's just a salad bar, often that can still last in the fridge 1-2 days. I'm a very impulsive eater, so having a little variety of lunch options is like the only way I can do it.

Alternatively, I used to buy a carton of eggs, some frozen/canned veggies, some instant rice or noodles, and just keep all that in the break room at work. I'd make things like faux toaster oven fritatas, rice with mixed roasted veggies, loaded veggie ramen, etc.

    Tuna salad: https://pin.it/auL3JGC

    Sweet potato crust quiche: https://pin.it/Cv5ORmo

With the quiche I'll mix and match what veggies I use, and sometimes I make it without the cheese.

  • @MrsMiller8588 - sometimes I use salt instead of dressing, cause yeah. the good stuff has tons of calories. I have also used salsa as dressing, cause it's not too many calories and tomatoes are good for you! I do measure whatever out and put it in a separate container. I haven't tried mason jar salads, but see my coworkers with them all the time!
  • Another good way to do dressing is to mix salsa with some Greek yogurt for creamier dressing. There are a lot of dressings you can make a lot cleaner by making yourself, but TBH I'm lazy and I usually buy them anyway

  • I'm so impressed with everyone, you're all working so hard at all of this.  And I love the sound of sweet potato quiche.

Current stats if you'd like to share!  (Usually starting weight, current weight and TTC goal weight.)
I don't know.  I've been trying to decide if I should just buy a scale.  I nearly went into the university student locker rooms today just to use the scale, but I didn't want to take the time.

Fitness game plan for this week:
Stick to my plan: get more steps than average, climb the stairs in the parking garage, keep an eye on my calories.

Did you meet last week's goals?
Nope.  I had a couple busy days at work and it all went out the window.

    Fitness goal for this month:
Establish a routine so all of this is easier.

Anything else you want to share about your fitness plans/journey?

    Any rants or raves?  Frustrations?
DH is way more active than I am, as are my BIL and SIL.  Recently, they keep going for bike rides and swims and runs, and I can't go for a number of reasons, not least of which is I have to stay with DS.  I wouldn't be able to keep up, and I don't think I would enjoy it, but I feel like the fitness gap is just getting wider and wider.

GTKY: What is your favorite type of exercise?
I really like Zumba.  I like that I have to focus on following the steps, so I can't think about getting tired.  I was all set to take a class this summer, but then they only offered it at 6 pm instead of noon, so I couldn't go.
  • Current stats if you'd like to share!  (Usually starting weight, current weight and TTC goal weight.)
    Not keeping track

Fitness game plan for this week:
Workout 5x during the week.  Up the water intake.  Limit sugars/snacks.

Did you meet last week's goals?
I did get in 4 or 5 workouts.  And I have been drinking more water...I cut out diet soda recently.

Anything else you want to share about your fitness plans/journey?

    Any rants or raves?  Frustrations?

GTKY: What is your favorite type of exercise?
    It's a tie between running & swimming.
  • Hey everyone, hope you are all off to a good start this week!

Current stats if you'd like to share!  (Usually starting weight, current weight and TTC goal weight.) Nothing right now, after a while I may weigh myself on one of the nurse's scales at work and let y'all know if anything happened, haha.

Fitness game plan for this week: Trying to get 3 workouts in during the work week, and walking daily with the dog.

Did you meet last week's goals?
    Nooope, I struggled last week.

Fitness goal for this month: Get into a better exercise routine overall.

Anything else you want to share about your fitness plans/journey?
Nothing I can think of right now.

    Any rants or raves?  Frustrations?
Definitely frustrated with myself for not making my goal last week when it was already not a very high bar lol BUT I know I can't dwell on that. It'll only get in the way of making this week's goal :)

GTKY: What is your favorite type of exercise?
I know I've said this before in other threads but I love yoga and Zumba. Both of those seem to take me out of the "I am working out right now" mindset into a place where I can just enjoy it.. if that makes sense.

@Secretstapler I feel like you and I are working on the same stuff right now - just getting into the routine! It is NOT easy!

@lalala2004 That quiche recipe looks awesome. I might have to make that for my breakfast next week.

@JennyColada UMMM.. how has no one else commented yet on your MacGyver-esque break room lunch skills?? Toaster oven fritatas!  I am impressed!

@MrsMiller8588  I know you already got a lot of lunch suggestions, but one thing I do sometimes if I get bored of sandwiches or salads is make a big pot of rice and beans, add in some shredded chicken and top it with whatever other veggies I have (peppers/onions and tomato are good, or avocado). I usually flavor it up with chili powder and cumin, or I'm pretty sure just a packet of taco seasoning would work well too. Then I've got enough taco bowl stuff to last all week. :)  If you're sticking with grain free, it'd probably still work well without the rice.

@kimberbeep I like the idea of salsa as a dressing! One good dressing that I've found is balsamic vinegar, olive oil, a little bit of dijon mustard, a little bit of honey, and some salt and pepper.  It's super easy (just whisk it all together) and really tasty.

@dukestar5  Cutting down on sugars is a tough one for me. I've made some progress on that in the past, but it's always a struggle. Hope you're doing well with it!
  • So yesterday I ate McDonald's for lunch and Jack in the Box for dinner.

    Whoops.

But I hadn't had McDonald's (for lunch at least...) in like over a month, and considering that I used to have it 2-3 times a week I think that's ok! It was SO yummy and worth it!

  • @JennyColada that sounds like my week! So much bad food even though I tried (and failed) to plan.  I've been gone too much! And will be out of town all weekend too. Hopefully next week will be better.

  • @MrsMiller8588 aw sorry your meal planning didn't work out that well this week (mine neither, I STILL hadn't gone to buy lunch stuff!). But I think so long as OVERALL it's better than it could be or has been in the past then that's a win! It's all about improvement, not doing it perfectly all the time. :)
  • @JennyColada Haha yes I'm making better choices than last week! I was just unexpectedly out this week so I never had time to prep and cook! Thanks for the encouragement :)
