  • What sort of diet do you plan to follow?

I'm currently transitioning to a plant based diet (as vegan as possible)  and I follow IIFYM (if it fits your macros)  My maintenance macros had me around 1800 cals a day and we'll (I have a fitness nutrition coach i've worked with for a while) increase as the pregnancy goes on and is necessary.  I'm almost completely off dairy and slowly phasing out most meat at this point.

What's your meal plan this week?
Planning to shop for plant based proteins to help me with my week and lunches.

    Plan so far:
    Cuban Quinoa bowls
    Chipotle sofritas for tacos
    Salad
    Seitan wraps

snacks- dairy free yogurts/granola/berries, avocado toast, nakd bars (or other protein type bars), smoothies
Breakfast- oatmeal, looking in to smoothie/acai bowls, pancakes
    Any food aversions?

    none so far!

Cravings? (and how are  you satisfying it?)

    nothing yet

GTKY: What is your favorite type of food?

after interning overseas indian food is by far my favorite!

What sort of diet do you plan to follow?
Small meals with good grains and proteins. Increasing my vegetable and fruit intake
What's your meal plan this week?
Cheap! Rent is due and the budget is TIGHT!
    Any food aversions?
I'm starting to dislike my coffee and feel the need to cream and sugar it.
Cravings? (and how are  you satisfying it?)
Last week it was goldfish, so I grabbed a box at the dollar store. Right now I'm writing DH a grocery list, so the whole thing is like a craving wishlist
GTKY: What is your favorite type of food?
I'm an ice cream addict. I have to find a recipe for this week before I send DH to the store. I read a TB article on not eating too much fat during pregnancy, but I won't budge on my ice cream

Anyone have a go to cheap meal idea? My brain is shot. My grocery list is starring to look like a toddler wrote it

@allowachick our go to cheap (meat meals!) are:

-chicken fajitas (chicken breast cut in strips with peppers and onions, toss with taco seasoning and a little oil and all in the oven...serve with rice/tortillas or on a salad

-taco night- ground beef or turkey (make into tacos, salads or burritos)

    -kebabs on the grill

    -burgers and pasta salad

    -soup and grilled cheese

-pasta and meatballs (homemade or store bought)

  • Does anyone do Blue Apron?  That's about as close as I get with meal planning.  We've been doing it for a few months now, and I love, love, love it.  My husband used to do all the cooking, but now Blue Aproning is my new favorite hobby!

  • @allowachick Check out the budgetbytes.com blog - she does a price per meal and price per serving breakdown on all her recipes. They're pretty healthy for the most part, very budget conscious and really, really delicious. It's my favorite blog of all time.

  • What sort of diet do you plan to follow? Thinking about following the gestational diabetes diet. I didn't have it last time but I did have a large baby and ate a ton of cupcakes.

What's your meal plan this week? I love your meal plan @ekendall09 !  Cuban quinoa bowls sound delicious...

Not quite sure what we're doing this week, at least:
    - Tonight corn on the cob, pork chops, and veggies on the grill
    - Garlic chicken with long grain rice and green beans

    Any food aversions? None yet!

Cravings? (and how are  you satisfying it?) I've been craving ice cream but am trying to drink more milk!

GTKY: What is your favorite type of food? I love potatoes in any form.

@bettyvonsomethingstein I've never tried Blue Apron but I've always been interested!

What sort of diet do you plan to follow? I'm going to slightly splurge this week as a last hoorah kind of thing. Then next week I'll be going the Gestational Diabetes diet. I had it last time so the chances are good I will again. Especially since my weight is a bit higher. The nutritionist I worked with last time had my focus on carbs. 30/50/50 with 15C snacks

What's your meal plan this week?
I am generally a meal planner but DH is OOT at at work conference so no step kids. DS is a picky enough eater so I'm doing easy stuff.

    Any food aversions?
    Nothing yet

Cravings? (and how are  you satisfying it?)
Nothing really however if something has ketchup I want a crazy amount of it.

GTKY: What is your favorite type of food?
I love food I don't discriminate except thing with slimey or oddly chunky textures(aka cottage cheese)

  • What sort of diet do you plan to follow?
We just try to stay away from processed foods.
What's your meal plan this week?
Tonight, we are out late and I have no self control, so fast food
Then I have some general meal ideas of meatloaf with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts, chicken and rice with veggies, and vegetable soup
    Any food aversions?
No real specific aversions, but generally struggling in general, most foods are gross.  And I had to gag down my coffee, because I didn't want a headache
Cravings? (and how are  you satisfying it?)
Eggs. I have eaten eggs the last 4 days, and twice a day for at least two of them.  Also I really wanted canned ravioli, which I probably haven't eaten in 10-15 years, there is a can in my car....
GTKY: What is your favorite type of food?
I don't have a favorite.  I am not picky at all and eat very much according to mood.

What sort of diet do you plan to follow?
I would love to at least get to a dairy-free vegetarian diet(ie vegan, but still eat eggs and honey ETA: this is how I feed #1. No milk or meat.). I currently eat very little meat, but still eat lots of cheese and ice cream.  I tried eliminating it maybe 6 or 8 months ago and I nearly lost all my milk. So I reincorporated it in and my supply came back. When I go dairy-free my eczema and dandruff goes away. So someday, perhaps if DS#1 weans during this pregnancy I'll be able to cut the dairy again.

What's your meal plan this week?
Eating leftovers from Ds#1 bday party yesterday. So lots of quinoa/brown rice sloppy joes, veggie pasta salad, and cantaloupe

    Any food aversions?
    None so far

Cravings? (and how are  you satisfying it?)
    None

GTKY: What is your favorite type of food?
Mexican. At least 1 meal a day must consist of tortillas, beans, and salsa in some way shape or form. I have a problem.

@ekendall09 you are my food hero. I'd love to get to a whole food plant based diet... but I keep just saying "maybe later..." *sigh*

  • @dirtyboots we'll see how it goes! SO will never get on board, he's a lost cause and eats whatever he wants. I just got the dairy free Ben and jerrys and I'm hoping it's good but I've heard of other good non-dairy ice creams too!

  • What sort of diet do you plan to follow?
I'm a vegetarian but DH and DD are not.

What's your meal plan this week?
Who knows. DH is on call all week for work so I never know if he'll be home.

    Any food aversions?
    Nope.

Cravings? (and how are  you satisfying it?)
Nothing yet, and I didn't have any last time around.

GTKY: What is your favorite type of food?
Mexican sounds really good right now...

Off topic, does anyone know if pregnancy diet is related to food allergies in babies? DD has food allergies and I'd like to know if there's anything I can do now to lessen the risk for the next baby.

I feel like I've heard taking probiotics during pregnancy can reduce allergies in babies. I'm not sure if it'd legit, but maybe something to look into?

  • @sdavis2189 to my knowledge there are not studies to prove if there is a direct connection. That said I had PB toast every morning for breakfast with DS and he's allergic. But his dad also is so I think it's more the genetics

  • I eat a ridiculously boring and crazy strict diet. Anyone interested in whole30 and vegan meals? ;)
  • @hurricane1212 what's whole30? I've never heard of it
  • @hurricane1212 yes to vegan!

@allowachick whole30 is a whole food based diet. Absolutely nothing processed. Like a stricter version of paleo. I've done it once and it was good but very hard to sustain for me long term.

Wow, this is definitely something I want to read up on.  I can't sing enough praises for probiotics, especially when KU.

@sdavis2189, DS had FPIES and we recently learned his rice allergy turned into IGE.  The little I can find only states probiotics, which I recently started.  Honestly though, I thought that was because FPIES is gastrointestinal.  Other research says (at least FPIES) can come from antibiotic use during pregnancy, which I am unfortunately currently using for a UTI.

Also, about consuming vs not, the research is very contradictory, some says to eat it, some say not to.  I was reading an article the other day saying to eat high allergens like peanut butter, but not on a daily basis.  FWIW, I swear I ate peanut butter daily with both kids, and neither is allergic.

My kids pediatrician swears that allergies are related to GMOs, so he always tells us to stay away from them.
