This thread is for those who have started TTC but are now TTA or Benched. (There is also a TTCAL "sister" thread.)
***General TW that this thread can and will mention MC and loss.***
This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have hit a roadblock and are delaying for whatever reason. You
can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on not TTC and
connect with others who are in the same boat. TTC can be a long journey,
and having to wait makes it feel even longer -- even if it is for a
good reason. I invite you to resurrect this thread at any point in the
week if you have something to say. Treat this like an ongoing
conversation.
Benched = involuntarily not NTNP/TTC and "out of the game," usually due to medical reasons
TTA
= avoiding pregnancy by using protection or FAM, usually for
non-health-related reasons

What brings you here?
How long do you think you'll be here?

Any R/R/CS/Q?
GTKY: What's your go-to dish to cook when you are having guests over?
Me: 35 DH: 28 TTC since June 2016 Azoospermia diagnosis (zero count) Dec 2016 AZFc chromosome microdeletion discovery March 2017 Unsuccessful TESE for DH in August 2017 October 2017 IVF with donor sperm
29R, 24M, 16F, 2d5, 4d6 (6 embryos total) Only 3 could have PGS. 2/3 normal. 5 embies frozen 12/15/17 FET #1 (1 embryo)--CP 2/7/17 FET #2 (2 embryos)--BFN Chronic endometritis diagnosis May 2018
ERA Sept 2018--borderline receptive--12 more hours of progesterone Abnormal SIS Oct 2018 Repeat hysteroscopy Nov 1. Treated recurring endometritis. 12/4/18 FET #3 (2 embryos)--BFN Our journey has come to an end.
How long do you think you'll be here? So we just moved and are in the process of switching doc's, but I got my HCG checked with a prescription from my "old" doc on Friday. She left a voicemail on my phone this morning saying she wants to repeat the beta monthly for 3 more checks. So that puts me at the end of October before thinking about TTC again... I hope the new doc's recommendations aren't that long.
How have things been going? I'm WFAF and my cycle to regulate, on CD46 and counting. I know that it can take months for AF to return after MC. For some reason I thought I would be "special" and bounce back to normal right away, so I am struggling with that right now. I just want myhormones to straighten out so I can feel more like myself. Other than (not) TTC, things are going fine. I'm applying/interview for new jobs and found one I am really hoping to get an interview for.
Any R/R/CS/Q? Did anyone else have multiple LH surges with no O after loss?
GTKY: What's your go-to dish to cook when you are having guests over? Usually something on the grill or something easy like taco's. Nothing fancy!
@rachelg777 I hope all goes well with the process of switching over to a new doctor and finding a great job. You might want to ask your question about the LH surges on the TTCAL board as well, since you might have more eyes on your question there.

What brings you here? DH quit his job and is going back to school this month, plus my sister's wedding in April. Just giving us some time to adjust and make it so I can get back to my home state for her wedding.
How long do you think you'll be here? Until October
How have things been going? Alright. I'm not happy about having to TTA, but I could also use a little bit of a break in TTC. I might not be around here were as much, but I'll be here for the check-ins
Any R/R/CS/Q? Had an OK weekend, despite the fact that Saturday was CD1 and MIL called to tell me to drink the ginseng tea she sent so it could "warm my uterus." Nevermind the fact that it has been linked to miscarriages. Otherwise, I relaxed, drank all the beers, and got a bit of cleaning and laundry done
GTKY: I've been making a spinach artichoke dip since high school, but I've gotten tired of it and try to find new recipes each time now.
Me: 30 | DH: 31 Met: August 2006 Married: July 2012 TTC #1 since June 2016
How long do you think you'll be here? Hopefully just until sept.
How have things been going? Had my hysteroscopy and septum removal on Friday. Wasn't the smoothest surgery in the world, but it's done now. Also not the smoothest recovery, but I just got another week and a half of being uncomfortable I think. I've developed a low-grade fever, and I have a balloon catheter in my uterus (to hold it open) which is giving me all kinds of cramps, but I'm happy it's all done with. Doc said she also found some polyps while she was in there and had those removed - she thinks they may have been some tissue from last MC.
Any R/R/CS/Q? Nope. Just whiny while I recover Thank god it's the summer. I will feel better once this fever goes away and I poop. (anesthesia blocks you up something fierce!)
GTKY: What's your go-to dish to cook when you are having guests over? Crazy enough, I don't really have guests over unless it's the holidays - then we cook a huge meal, of course. I like cooking ethnic dishes, though - I like to make a huge Indian spread when my IL's visit.
@hezzer78 you deserve time to whine and recover! Also, I hope you poop soon! I'm glad they found and removed the polyps- saves you a different surgery right? woop!

@BusinessWife You can check in with us but you can't come back to the bench! :P I'm so happy your ER is this month! I'm sorry about the polyp, but hopefully it's just a small bump in the road with no lasting issues.
Are you benched or TTA? Benched. Complete pelvic rest was what Mrs. RE ordered due to 4 cysts. My body was sensitive to all they gave me. I told them I'm a 10 percenter but they didn't believe me.
What brings you here? I don't know. I enjoy snark I guess and I like places where I don't have to feel anything other than pissed that my body won't work properly.
How long do you think you'll be here? Who knows.
How have things been going? Well I have MS, trying to have a baby, and I'm taking care of my Dad who has lung cancer (healthcare POA and caregiver; just diagnosed at the end of May). He is in a different state than I live in. The smallest amount of stress possible.
Any R/R/CS/Q? Af arrived last night and she has had a lot to say. I keep shouting at her to expel these cysts or else I'll annihilate her with a hysterectomy.
GTKY: What's your go-to dish to cook when you are having guests over? Delivery. I'm not doing all that. The heat bothers my MS big time. H just built a deck. We will be getting a grill soon to help with that. Then I'll be a backyard grillin' machine.

@BusinessWife so excited for you to being IVF!! Totally been lurking on IF thread too, but this is where I belong now. Hoping I get taken off the bench soon, too! @suzycupcake I, too, love snark.
Are you benched or TTA? Benched
What brings you here? Azoo >:O
How long do you think you'll be here? Still in testing, waiting, testing, waiting. We have our next urology appt. on 8/14, at which time we get the results from hormone BW, genetic testing & chromosome testing.
How have things been going? The waiting is the hardest part... Tom Petty was not lying. Our hospital has an online portal that you can sign up for and check your test results as soon as they come in, but we've both decided that would be a terrible idea to peep those on our own without the dr there explaining it to us.
Any R/R/CS/Q? If MH and I are unable to have our own baby, I would want to pursue donor sperm as opposed to adoption or remaining childless. It's something MH and I have mentioned, but haven't seriously spoken about bc we want to do things one step at a time and we do still have hope. Anyways, yesterday I took a much needed mental health day yesterday and went to the beach with my good friend, who is also the gf of my brother in law, and one of the only people who knows about our IF. She brought up MH's BIL as a sperm donor, which is something I have thought about alot (what he thinks about it, how to ask him etc), and the fact that she mentioned it made me think it's something that is on everyone's mind. It was a definitely a little bit of a relief!
GTKY: What's your go-to dish to cook when you are having guests over? Calzones, cheese plate or a dip. I love cooking for guests. I love summer but can't wait for football season..
@businesswife I'm so happy for you, sweet friend! So glad to see you're moving on soon. @suzycupcake GIRL. Yes! I'm all about that delivery life. My H loves to cook or we'd be getting takeout (or eating crockpot meals) almost every day.
@hezzer78 I'm sorry you had to do a hysteroscopy. I had one a few months ago and it was a horrific sight; contractions and all. I hope you have a good and stiff adult beverage in front of you right now.

I'm temporarily benched for a non-ttc issue, so I hope it's ok to be here!
Are you benched or TTA? Benched
What brings you here? Just a few days pre O I developed intensely painful muscle cramps in my neck and shoulders that landed me in the ER. Ibuprofen, narcotics, and muscle relaxants don't mix well with ttc, so here I am.
How long do you think you'll be here? I think just the rest of this cycle. Hopefully I'll be off the meds soon.
How have things been going? I was feeling very hopeful about this cycle, so I'm very disappointed to be benched.
Any R/R/CS/Q? Nope.
GTKY: What's your go-to dish to cook when you are having guests over? MH and I love to cook! It depends what meal we have guests for. @kiwi2628 I'm sorry to hear about your cysts! I hope they quickly clear up with the BC! @darkstar42 Sorry you find yourself here! That cramping doesn't sound very fun, I'm glad you got treated but it sucks it delays TTC. Your cooking has my mouth watering over here!
@kiwi2628 @darkstar42. Hey ladies - so sorry to see you both here. Fx the time passes quickly and the issues that have you temporarily Benched resolve soon! (((Big hugs)))
@LeilaK9288. Thank you so much! It has been such a long haul here, I can hardly believe we could finally be so close!
@hezzer78. How are you feeling, love? Resting up and starting to heal I hope? ❤
@suzycupcake Welcome!!! Sorry you find yourself here. Sounds like you have a lot on your plate right now! Wow. We dealt with DHs late SF's lung cancer stuff a few years ago... it's so hard watching them struggle. Make sure you are taking care of YOU through all this. ;)
@rachelg777. Thank you so much! I am trying not to be too mad about it. Ugh. Just after all we went through to get here so far, a part of me figured the rest might be fairly smooth sailing... but of course I know that might not be the case, and it's such a small hiccup in the grand scheme of things. Maybe I'm really just being a bit of a baby about it (in my head) lol Stamp stamp! Lol <img alt="" src="https://us.v-cdn.net/5020794/uploads/editor/h8/x15e6olsrw5s.gif">
@icecubeinthedesert. Ooh! Wanna send me your spin dip recipe? I will be happy to carry the torch. ;) @hezzer78. Didn't you say you have an awesome buffalo chicken dip recipe?
@BusinessWife I'm sorry to hear that your family has been affected by such an awful disease too. It is hard watching them struggle. It's tough not knowing when to jump and be alarmed. The balance of giving quality of life with fun activities and recognizing that the cancer is still there (ie trying to make everything normal when it isn't) is very challenging. Thank you so much for the kind words. It seems like such a duh thing. The reminder is always timely and today, I really needed to read that.

@businesswife Thanks! I'm feeling so much better. I'm off pain meds and the bleeding has pretty much stopped. I went for a walk yesterday and I noticed it picked back up with activity, so I laid low the rest of the day. Going to try again and see if it's any better. I still am a bit crampy so I'm taking just regular ibuprofen for that. My doc prescribed me diclegis - which, upon investigation, I realize is anti-nausea medication? I'm not nauseous so I stopped taking it, and my spotting has now completely stopped. Coincidence or related - idk.
And my 'awesome buffalo chicken dip' recipe isn't really 'awesome' - or even a 'dip' really lol. It's just really easy buffalo chicken. I just put chicken breasts (or thighs - they're tastier) in a crockpot with franks red hot and a packet of ranch dressing seasoning (just the spices). Cook on low for about 5 - 6 hours. Then I shred it and use it in stuff through the week - like sandwiches, wraps, etc. I like to put it in a wrap with some bleu cheese crumbles and veggies. I'm a terrible cook, and I hate cooking - so anything that gets me a lot of food relatively easily, I'm all for ETA: Words

I'm a terrible cook, and I hate cooking - so anything that gets me a lot of food relatively easily, I'm all for
