Weekly Randoms 7.24-7.30

Didn't see this started yet... how's it going?

Re: Weekly Randoms 7.24-7.30

  • DS1 turned 2 years old today. We celebrated yesterday with family and that was great. He had a good time visiting with everyone and playing with his new toys. We had big plans to go to the CA Academy of Sciences today but my poor kid woke up throwing up! :'(  It lasted all morning, too. After resting his stomach and a nice long nap, he woke up his normal self, albeit starving. Luckily, i think it must've been something he ate yesterday vs a virus. Whew!

  • @mrsrep123 happy birthday to your little man. That sucks he was sick on his birthday! Mine will be 2 in about two weeks.

My H wants to tour a couple montessori schools in the area that have toddler programs. They are only 2 days a week for 2 hours but I have mixed feelings about him going. I know it will be good for him but I want him home with me. Before ds2 was born he went to daycare full time and I had so much guilt about how much he was there.

@mrsrep123 happy birthday to your little guy. I'm glad he's feeling better now.

@lrwardrop 2 hours per day, 2 days per week isn't that much time. I completely understand the guilt, but maybe you can use those hours to focus on one on one time with the baby? I feel like juggling my 3 makes it harder to spend the one on one time they need.

  • Thanks @lrwardrop and @mcvgal.

We are looking into Merryhill Preschool since it's close to our new house for DS1 to go to a few hours a week to socialize. He's only been taken care of by me or MH so we feel like we need to broaden his circle a bit. There was a Goddard School close to where we used to live. I've heard great things about both so I'm not too worried.

  • Was thinking of starting another roll call & GTKY thread... but I can't think of any new or cool questions? Anyone have any?  ;)

@mrsrep123 what about a summer themed GTKY or a childhood theme?

So DD had a NICU follow up appointment this morning. Development and growth wise, everything seems to be on track. However, she was referred to PT because she is showing a preference to her right side/mild torticollis. That appointment is 2 weeks away, so we'll see if she shows any improvement in that time.

  • Thanks @MTB16.

There was a huge thread dedicated to daycares, nannies, etc. @jayandaplus gave some great input as she used to be a nanny and posted on care.com. I'll see if I can find it and bump it/tag you on it!

  • Is anyone else's toddler having MAJOR separation anxiety?

Mine will scream bloody murder if he's left alone for a second. Ugh!

  • @mrsrep123 mine does the same thing! For him, I think it's more about wanting my attention. If I am rocking or feeding the baby he wants me to pick him up, refill his drink, get him a snack, etc.. Basically anything he can think of to get me away from the baby. When I walk away he screams "mommy where are you?!"
  • Hey ladies, when did you or when do you plan on moving LO to a crib in their own room? Our LO has outgrown his bassinet, we would wake up to him grunting and smooshed at the top and his neck at an angel, so we figure he needs more room. Last night I talked DH into bringing up the PNP so he could sleep in that but I know taking apart every night is going to get old fast. His nursery is literally right next to our room so he won't be far but I am having a hard time with it. Especially since they say to have them room with you the first 6 months to lowers the risk of SIDS. We also don't have enough room to move his crib into our room. What are you ladies doing/planning on doing?

  • @lilylover27 we have DS2's crib in our room and will for probably his first year (new AAP recommendation). Maybe invest in another PNP so you don't have to keep breaking the other one down every night?

@lrwardrop I think it's partially attention-seeking as well, although he likes to give a high-pitched scream (not annoying at all but more like "look at me") when MH or I are showing DS2 attention. It's kinda cute/funny but we're trying to not encourage it. I also think he's loving that I've been at home these last few months...

@lilylover27 I second @mrsrep123. Ds1 was in a pnp in our room until 15 months, partially because our master is on the 1st floor and his room upstairs. I would see if you can squeeze in @ pnp or mini crib if you want to keep him close. I moved my nightstand so I could put a minicrib next to my bed.

@lilylover27 DD has been in her crib since her first day home. We have a full size bed in her room as well, so I slept in her room until about 3 weeks ago. (She will be 5 months in 3 days) Our house is somewhat small and her room is across the hall from ours. DH is a very light sleeper and can hear her as soon as she starts moving around. I still rely on the monitor to hear her better.
