@adirat Looks like I will be getting a hysteroscopy too!
So my consult today was basically discussing that we have a minor chance of getting KU through IVF/ICSI/PGS. I told my RE I needed a number. Like his best percentage. He said 15% chance of it working with MH sperm (because of the chromosomal abnormalities and he cant guarantee quality with such few sperm). Again he strongly suggested donor sperm. We talked costs ($15-$18,000) of IVF. Previously, MH was not open at all to donor, but in talking with the RE more about it, he seems more and more open to it. I kept asking questions about how it all worked, and we decided that we felt we had to take a chance because we didn't want to live not knowing there might have been a small chance. So the RE said well I can set you up with IVF orientation when you are ready and we both agreed we were ready, so he actually did it right then and there. So we stayed an extra hour and a half and went through all the paperwork and procedure. In talking with MH during downtime, he said he was much more open to donor sperm now. They wanted him to do another SA while we were there, even though we had one last month, and the results were such crap... 4 fucking sperm. Ugh, so MH said he will do donor as long as we give his a chance too. So we can do IVF with his and donor backup and they won't tell us which embryos were his vs donor. We asked not to know. We also asked if we could find out at any given time in the future if we were dying to know. So we both got BW done and I did a UA and scheduled a hysteroscopy for Monday since today was CD1 anyways. We met with the embryologist as well. Because of H's translocation, we can just do PGS and don't need to do PGD. @adirat They also thought initially we would have to do the same and get a probe made, but because of his abnormality, they said the PGS will catch it. Basically our next steps are getting together a lot of paperwork, signing consents, meeting with a psychologist to get "approved" to use donor sperm, finding a donor, and looking to schedule things once all of those are together.

@adirat Ohhhhh my female parts just cringed reading that FX your hysteroscopy will be quick and painless for you.
Everything you have gone through is so unfair. I hate that you have to go through IVF, but I am crossing my fingers that this is it for you, and you will have your take home baby ASAP And thank YOU for the positive words!
@Redpuma119 That is interesting. PCOS is already so all over the place, and not really a black and white diagnosis. It's interesting to learn that there is another...type? of it. Either way, you are not alone. I don't completely understand it either!
@JuneRoseRuby Wow! I'm so happy that you and your H are finding the same page about donor sperm. And I think it's such a great option that you have a donor backup and could potentially not know which the embryos are. After everything you've been through, FX so hard that this is the plan that works out for your family.

@juneroseruby Wow. That's a lot. I'm glad you have a supportive team of doctors, and it's nice that they could just do the donor as a "backup" so that YH's sperm are still in the picture. I really feel for you and all you two have had to face.
I was actually thinking about you when I was reading up on the two PGS options and the new one (NGS) that finds translocations. It's nice that it can pick things up so you don't have to wait around for a PGD probe! (If you're ready, I mean to say.) Anyway, sending you big hugs! MH was mad I already told my mom about the donor stuff. He feels like there is no point in telling anyone and we should just keep it to ourselves. I feel like I just need to give him time to rest on it and think on it. I know it took him a while to come around to the fact that he was actually shooting blanks. He thought it was just a bad test. I feel the need to talk about it with people because it helps me to digest the info and to gain support. I also just feel like it is part of our journey and I am not ashamed. He says he isn't ashamed either but he said he doesn't see what we will gain from telling people. I said I only plan on talking about it with close friends and family. Again, I realize that I just need to give him time.

@JuneRoseRuby So much happened at your appointment! That's awesome you have a path forward now. Can't wait to hear more from you over the next couple months!
@JuneRoseRuby wow what an appointment!! I think your plan is such a great idea to use the donor sperm as backup but possibly not being told if it was his or not. I'm so glad the ball is rolling for you guys! I totally see why you would want to talk to your family for support and how this is just a part of your story but I know for me that there are times where I blame myself (all DHs results have always been great) and I have not said a peep to my MIL because as much as I love her and she is a good person I know in the back of her mind she would always think "oh my poor son" because he has to try this hard to have a baby because of me. Sounds like you're family is very supportive so definitely a different story but even if it's not shame maybe it's guilt even though it's not his fault or from nothing he's done. I'm so glad to hear that he is so on board. That's a very tough decision to make and it speaks volumes of how important having children is for you both. Rooting so hard for you!
@mrsmeettherays hi there, looks like you are new here. Did you intro on the intro thread yet? I would definitely suggest it so we can get to know a little bit more about you. Or if your willing to, post more here about what brings you over to the IF thread besides the treatment. With your question what were you hoping for natural resources to help with? Thicker lining? Implantation? Many women here recommend reading It Starts with the Egg. That would definitely provide more information about what you may be looking for.
@JuneRoseRuby I feel like the support here has helped so much when it comes to talking to other people about our IF. Even my closest friends though, have a hard time REALLY understanding what this journey is like. I love that I can say something about LH or AMH and everyone understands. Maybe if your husband had someone (or someones) to talk to he would see that it can be so helpful?
@beachbunnyxo123 Yeah, I do feel like there would be some level of guilt on MH's part even though he isn't either admitting it or comprehending his feelings about it. His mother will just panic so we sort of leave her out of it until big decisions are made or are happening. She's also just super annoying. My mom would sell her house for me if it meant affording IVF if we needed that kind of support. She's the best. I think since losing my dad too, she just knows we all need each other so much and our family is what we find important in our lives. Thanks so much for the support!
@Redpuma119 yes, I definitely feel like the love, support, and knowledge I have gained from this group has been more than I can account for. I spoke about you all at my IVF orientation today! I know MH will just talk to his friends when he feels ready. When we found out about his sperm counts and whatnot, he took about a month before he said something to them. Also, he's in complete denial. I asked him on the way out of the appointment how he felt about the SA results today and he said he just feels like he needs 100 SAs done to really feel like he has a good sample size to know what his sperm counts are.... uh bro, 100 SAs are still going to say you're 99% infertile. But I completely agree. I have one friend IRL that is in the same boat as me and we 100% relate. My other friends that have had a little struggle here and there think they can relate and then say stuff that makes me want to karate chop them in the throat.

@JuneRoseRuby girl, I'm so thrilled that your appointment went well! It's great that your H is willing to consider donor sperm. It's a lot to try and take in and digest, but you've made the first step! After all you've been through this year, you deserved some good news!

@JuneRoseRuby Wow that's a lot of info to absorb in one sitting for you both! I think your plan makes a lot of sense and it's awesome they will include YH's sperm so you won't know, unless you want to. I'm so excited for you guys to be moving forward in your next steps!
@50wife You can do this! @RVAmom315 That's wonderful that you and YH came up with a plan that works best for you. FX that you don't have to deal with any of it because you're out of here! @Aurora1973 *Hugs* Sorry for CD1. Sometimes you just have to cry it out and be upset about the failed cycle in order to move forward and be positive about the next one. @adirat That's so exciting! Obviously I wish it wasn't necessary for you, but it's exciting to start the process. @JuneRoseRuby Wow, that is a lot to take in all at once, but I'm so happy that YH is open to donor sperm. FX everything goes smoothly.
Is anyone well versed at reading insurance language? I got my plan coverage document but I don't know what it means. If so, can I PM you the language to see if you can decipher? Thanks!
@JuneRoseRuby I know it took a while for my DH to adjust to the diagnosis, too. Like you, I'm not ashamed and I want to share our story with others, but I realize that DH feels like this is his "fault," even though it's clearly not anything he did or didn't do. It got better over time and we were able to have the conversation about donor sperm, although DH flat out tells me that he doesn't want to talk anything IF related at times. (Hopefully your DH will realize that 100 SAs won't change the truth of the situation...yeesh.)

@JuneRoseRuby I'm so sorry YH seems to be struggling with this. Unfortunately, I think that most men tie their value as a man to things like sperm count. They rationally know that it doesn't have anything to do with them, but there's something I think is ingrained in men to think that way. OH would die a thousand deaths if he knew how many people know he has Low T. It's a freaking hormonal health issue, but I'm pretty much forbidden from sharing that with people. He says he's not ashamed, but somewhere deep down he may still feels some embarrassment and doesn't want people to know.
On the flip side, since you are potentially not going to know if it's the donor or YH's sperm with each embryo, perhaps he's saying the biology doesn't matter, he's the baby's father and no one needs to know enough to question that.
Hugs to you, and FX this awkward and difficult part doesn't last long.

The good news is, the procedure itself was totally fine!!! Thank God. I think before it was so crazy bc he was trying to check my tubes, too. This was so so way much less saline and totally nbd.
But.... she saw a polyp. Womp. So for now, we will probably just stick with my stimming schedule for August, then schedule the polypectomy prior to FET. Plus, that way we have time to see how retrieval/ fert/ blasts /PGS all went, in case we feel compelled to bank.
Either way, it's really fine, just lame to know we have one more little hiccup in the road ahead, and one more "nap" lol
@BusinessWife At least the polyp won't affect timing.

My other friends that have had a little struggle here and there think they can relate and then say stuff that makes me want to karate chop them in the throat.

**TW** June 2016 had CP **end TW**
August 2016 - dx with DOR
Somewhere in here received recommendation to do IVF with donor eggs, elected not to; OH dx with Low T
May 2017 - began freezing sperm
June 2017 - OH began treatment for Low T
July 2017 - began doing 1 IUI via a midwife and 1 at home insemination each cycle

July 2018 - exhausted frozen sperm, officially NTNP since OH is probably shooting blanks
@JuneRoseRuby. It's so tough, but it sounds like you have made an awesome plan! I loved the point Aurora made that somewhere in his heart - he must know that it's being their father and raising your children together that makes him a dad, more so than biology ever could. I'm really happy for you guys!! ❤❤❤
CD3 test all came back looking great!

So I had my saline sono today... good thing we repeated it...

@mrsmeettherays Welcome! I hope your stay here is short, but if it isn't, we look forward to getting to know you.
@businesswife Ugh, that's a drag. At least it's an easy fix and if you're doing PGS anyway you can just get it over with and get to your FET!
AFM: It's been a really hard TTCAL/IF week for me and you know what that means. I hope everyone has a better weekend. I'm just going to try to veg and recover my emotional energy. Sending all of you big hugs oh and also this:
i hope you can take the weekend to just chill and recharge.
