BO

This may be TMI, but are any of you finding your current deoterant just isn't cutting it anymore. I've tried like 3 new ones and for some reason, they are not working. This is totally new for me and quite embarrassing!!  It to mention a total turn off for my husband!! Eww!

Re: BO

  • I haven't had a problem (yet) this pregnancy but I have with others, or during the post partum period. After DD1 I didn't even need deodorant anymore, after DD2 I smelled like a teenage boy no matter what I used.

  • Clinical strength dove. I think the BO just smells worse to us though because of the super sniffer. My DH hasn't said I smell, but I feel like it's sooooo bad.
  • Havent had the BO problem yet and I had to switch to unscented deodorant just because all smells are making me want to barf right now.

Anyone feel hairier? lol Its embarrassing but there are some dark hairs below my belly button and Ive never had that before, and I feel like even my face seems more fuzzy. ughhhhh

  • @melsue18 yes! I am lol! At first I thought maybe I smell like this all the time, but just didn't notice until now because my sense of smell is heightened now. I've just been reapplying often but I even switched my body wash. I was using a natural one with like 3 ingredients but it wasn't cutting it, I still smelled right after the shower.
  • Not in the arm bit area but i have switched no scented hypoallergenic body wash and deodorant. I thi k it is bc of super sniffer we are like more self conscious of everything
  • @livingoffpbjs yes to being hairy. It happened last time too. Between the hair and my nails growing so fast I can't keep up. I have these 3 dark hairs on my stomach now too

I had to use the clinical strength dove when I was pregnanct with DD for this very reason. I just switched to the dove spray on, that doesn't show up on clothes, since they've been advertising it like crazy. I love it! And I think it's a little cheaper than the clinical strength.
  • I haven't noticed BO, but I can smell other stinky parts of me. Hubby says he doesn't notice and he complains about smells a lot. So I guess my superpower is butt sniffing. Like a dog. :(
  • @melsue18 yes!!!!!!! Both I and DH have noticed (embarrassing, but reassures me it's not just my super sniffer). It took me a while to connect that it must be the pregnancy. I still haven't found any deodorants that work super well, but after reading these posts I might give dove clinical strength a try!
  • Plus one for funky and hairy! I switched deodorant 3 times last pregnancy. This time I'm on my 2nd deodorant...it's still early. I have gross hairs popping out everywhere...even my breasts. Just gross.

I'm not having BO issues yet, but booooooy my girl bits are working overtime. I feel like I'm perpetually smelling my vagina and I hate it (not the natural odor, a special pregnancy smell?). And I swear this funk is seeping into my underwear even after they've been washed.  :s
  • @scatteringashes YES. Some days are definitely worse than others. I find myself needing pantiliners (which I change often) to keep the smell at bay.

    I use Hypnobabies! http://www.hypnobabies-store.com/link.cgi?affiliateID=472

  • @scatteringashes @missblaze - Oh man I am so glad I'm not alone! Especially if I wear something thinner like leggings or work out pants around the house. Some days I can't even make it a full day without being grossed out by the smell.
  • I switched to an all natural unscented deoderant (no antiperspirant) when I was going through IVF.  I felt a little fragrant.  So since switching back to a mostly natural deoderant/antiperspirant, I feel generally fresher/drier.

But my body smells don't bother me nearly as much as manufactured fragrance.  I still use unscented products.

And yeah, I'm way furry these days.  And I like to keep my nails short (I type a lot at work), but they just keep growing!  I'm going to have to let someone else cut my toenails when my belly gets too big for me to reach my toes!

I do sleep bottomless (no underwear, nothing) in a nightgown at night.  I think that helps keep the nether regions a little fresher.  There's definitely more dampness, especially in the heat.
Me- 39 (turning 40 in April), TTC for the first time ever (since Jan 2015), low ovarian reserve
Married 3/14/14 to my wonderful wife, but her sperm count is rather low
TTC with frozen donor sperm and science

    7 IUIs, 7 BFNs.
2 IVF attempts, both cancelled and converted to IUI, both BFNs.
Decided that my tired old ovaries are ready to retire.
Next step- reciprocal IVF, using my wife's eggs, my uterus!
fresh 5 day transfer (2 embryos) 4/17/17- BFP!
Identical twins "due" 1/2/17 (but anticipated arrival sometime December)

  • Ugh yes. Not the deodorant thing but anytime I have to like bend down to get something or help Thing 1 I feel like I can smell myself.

  • I tried to use Tom's after my mom suggested it as it is considered safe for pregnancy.  Yah I wore it once and was like oh.my.god.hold.the.phone.  I honestly didn't even know I could smell like that in such a short amount of time hahaha!  So now I am back to my tried and true Secret and obviously love it.  Also, I am always hairy (thanks Italian genetics) so I can't really tell if things are worse or the same.  I still spend the same amount of time in the mirror EVERY DAY ensuring that all my little face hairs are plucked and I shave everyday as well.  This should be interesting come Novemberish I assume lol?
